- Billie's paternal grandmother, Mary Wimberly Hayden, was one of few African American grade school teachers in Lisman, Alabama during the early 1940's.
- As a teen, Billie was close friends with "Angelo Moore" founder and lead singer of the musical group "Fishbone". The pair, along with another friend, took the bus on several occasions from Woodland Hills, California to Sunset & Vine in Hollywood to dance on the long running hit show "Soul Train". Soul Train was then taped at the head quarters for A&M Records,originally the "Charlie Chaplin Studios" built by Chapman in 1917.
- In 2003 Billie's friend "Thomas Wilson Brown" helped her shoot and edit a video for a Time Warner Cable internal video contest. Stealing a couple of tricks from Robert Rodriguez, Thomas used his personal video camera as Billie pushed him around in a wheelchair for their dolly shots. They submitted their completed video and took 1st Place.
