Yo, Adrian! I did it! I just bought a Porsche by selling three Rocky tapes! Original, sealed VHS copies of the first three Rocky movies just sold at auction for $53,750. To give that a little perspective, that’s around 20% of the original movie’s budget and significantly more than Sylvester Stallone’s salary.
Sold at the Dallas-based Heritage Auctions, the Rocky VHS tapes were brought to attention by Jay Carlson, who not only is an avid VHS collector (sealed only), but serves as consignment director for Heritage. He also runs a nifty and nostalgic Instagram called rareandsealed. It was there he posted more on the Rocky VHSes:
“2 days after our last auction where we sold the only known 1982 drawer box releases of Rocky, Rocky II and Rocky III, these Even Earlier 1982 copies popped up. The main tell is the die cut that you’ll see on the bottom left of...

The enduring “Rocky” fandom sure packs an expensive punch.
The rise of VHS auctions has included a whopping sale of $53,750 for the “Rocky” trilogy starring Sylvester Stallone. A February sale from Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas marked a return for videotapes. As Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary relive their video-store days with a VHS-centric podcast, and video production company and YouTube channel Red Letter Media raised over $80,000 for charity by selling a sealed “Nukie” tape, consumers are flocking to collectibles. And especially as content keeps getting yanked off streaming services.
“A man told us he found a sealed first release of ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ at Goodwill,” Heritage specialist Jay Carlson, a collector who uses an Instagram account titled Rare and Sealed, told The New York Times. “He paid a quarter. That will probably go for $20,000.”
Carlson’s first auction in June 2022 profited more than half a million dollars.

Hugh Jackman running for President? We’d vote for him… So too would The Front Runner director Jason Reitman who we spoke to on the red carpet for the film at its London film Festival premiere.
Produced by Helen Estabrook, written by Jay Carlson and Matt Bai, on whose book “All the Truth is Out” the film tells the story of the 1998 Presidential candidate Gary Hart, and his career-ending scandal. In the film Jackman and Reitman wanted to find the humanity in politics – no easy task. Check out the press conference highlights from the world premiere in Toronto International Film Festival.
The film stars Jackman as Hart, Vera Farmiga, Kaitlyn Dever, Sara Paxton, Molly Ephraim, Alfred Molina, J. K. Simmons, Bill Burr and Courtney Ford.
Our dream team of Colin Hart (no relation) and Scott Davis were on the carpet to speak with the director – here’s how they got on.
