It was a big night for Kristen Wiig on Saturday Night Live as she joined the Five-Timers Club. However, she was welcomed into the elite group by a bunch of mostly Non-Five-Timers Club members.
The actress and comedian kicked off her monologue, saying, “I am so happy to be back, and I am so excited because it is my fifth time hosting. So I’m officially in the Five-Timers Club!”
She then took a moment to acknowledge the sketch comedy show’s band, but shortly after, that’s when the celebrity cameos started, beginning with Paul Rudd, who previously joined the club in 2021.
“I also heard a rumor that you might be doing one of those five-timer sketches featuring awesome celebrity cameos,” Rudd said after popping up in the Studio 8H audience. “So, is there like a script or something I could look at for that?” But unfortunately, Wiig informed...

A star-studded group of veteran “Saturday Night Live” guest hosts were on hand this evening to welcome Kristen Wiig into the “Five-Timers Club.” But much to Wiig’s chagrin, most of them haven’t matched her feat of actually hosting “SNL” five times.
The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member made her fifth appearance as host — having previously hit the stage in 2013, 2016 and twice in 2020.
The stolen “SNL” valor actually began with a legit five-timer: Paul Rudd, on hand to welcome her from the audience..
“As a former cast member, it is very special,” Wiig said. “I’m really excited about getting my jacket tonight… they don’t just hand the jackets off to anyone.”
Well, not quite. Soon more stars came out: Matt Damon, Jon Hamm, Martin Short, Will Forte, Fred Armisen, Martin Short and Ryan Gosling. None of whom haven actually hosted five times yet.

Saturday Night Live took a break from politics in its cold open to riff on March Madness — more specifically how the women’s tournament has been a lot more exciting than the men’s competition.
The setup was TBS’ post-game coverage, with co-host Kenny Smith (Devon Walker) noting that 14 million people watched the the Iowa-Connecticut game, where Caitlin Clark faced Paige Bueckers.
Fellow host Charles Barkley (Kenan Thompson) chimed in, “The women’s is turning up the stars. Caitlin Clark is going as for State Farm, Subway, XFinity and Nike. I’m only doing ads for three of those companies.”
Later, the anchors go to Lsu coach Kim Mulkey (Heidi Gardner), who says she’s been made up to look “like the Riddler with the Talbots.”
When she was asked about her reputation for being too tough on her players, she told them, “Ohh please. People think I’m just...

No matter who prevails next Sunday at the NCAA’s championship game, 2024’s March Madness will go down in history as a milestone moment for women’s sports. Not just in the college basketball realm — but for female athletes overall.
In a perfect storm, the annual bracket-bonkers frenzy around the NCAA college basketball tournament has conferred a level of respect to the women’s game that is rarely been seen across sports media, but for the quadrennial exception of the Women’s World Cup. It’s happening this year for all the right reasons – basically, math and gravity. The games have been too good to ignore and the stats put up by such players as the University of Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, Louisiana State University’s Angel Reese, USC’s freshman phenom JuJu Watkins and University of Connecticut’s Paige Bueckers are too eye-popping to not analyze.

Updated with statement: Los Angeles Times columnist Ben Bolch, who came under widespread fire for a column about the Lsu-ucla Women’s NCAA tournament matchup in which he called the Lady Tigers “dirty debutantes” and called them “villains,” while calling the Bruins “milk and cookies,” has apologized.
Bloch says that he “failed miserably in my choice of words,” admitting that he “tried to be clever in my phrasing about one team’s attitude, using alliteration while not understanding the deeply offensive connotation or associations.” (See Lsu women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey’s point on that below.)
He goes on to write that while he did not intend to be hurtful, “the words I used were wrong.”

It was just three weeks ago that viewers demanded that Saturday Night Live satirize Alabama Senator Kate Britt’s response to the State of the Union. The show happily complied, casting Scarlett Johansson to play a pitch-perfect Britt, an in the process delivering one of the largest audiences the show has seen all season.
With Lsu women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey grabbing headlines for her, shall we say, outsized response to an as-yet unpublished Washington Post article, sports fans who’ve long wished for Mulkey lookalike Amy Poehler to play her in an SNL sketch may finally get their wish.
Mulkey’s SNL worthy performance came in a press conference between March Madness games on Saturday when she delivered an angry four-minute statement in which she bashed the media and threatened the Washington Post with a lawsuit if they publish the article.

The late Kobe Bryant had a lot of successes in life. His 2000 recording of a gangsta rap album wasn’t one of them, but it’s now finally out there for the world to judge.
Bryant, who will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, recorded the 16-track album, titled Visions, with a host of all-star support. Artists including Nas, 50 Cent, Beanie Segal, Black Thought, and Destiny’s Child appear on the recording.
Unfortunately, the album’s debut single, K.O.B.E. – featuring model and actress Tyra Banks – did not live up to Columbia Records expectations, and the project was quietly dropped without the entire album being released. This after Bryant released the single on the NBA All-Star Weekend, and performed it live at the game.
Bryant went on to release a handful of other tracks over the years, and appeared on the official...

It's becoming a tradition unlike any other -- win a national title, get a fast food smorgasbord from President Trump ... and Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey's face says it all. The Lady Bears celebrated their title at the White House after beating Notre Dame in the Ncaa Tournament earlier this month ... and of course, there was all the Wendy's, McDonald's and Burger King they could eat. It looks like the players were cool with...
