After a couple of faux series finales and several multi-year breaks between seasons — including one that lasted six years — it’s no wonder that the most frequent question asked ahead of Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s 12th and final season has been, Is this really the end?
“This time it really feels like it,” HBO’s head of comedy Amy Gravitt told Deadline at the Curb Season 12 premiere party this week. “This is the most declarative that I’ve experienced it for sure.”
Curb creator, star and executive producer Larry David and fellow executive producer Jeff Schaffer told HBO brass early on that Season 12 would be the comedy’s final chapter.
“As has always been the case, story-breaking led the decision,” Gravitt said. “So, as they were writing, Larry and Jeff called to say the best version is the final version. It’s hard to argue with that!”

Larry David on Tuesday attended the premiere of the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, where he revealed what he had planned next and gave insight into the creative freedom HBO gave him during the series’ 12-season run.
Ahead of a screening of the first two episodes of Season 12 of the comedy, David got onstage to present the show, getting a standing ovation from the crowd.
“If I would’ve been a different person, I might have been touched by that,” David joked after the ovation.
“So, yes, yes, this is it. This is it. The final season. It’s very sad, very sad,” David awkwardly said while being playful with the American Sign Language interpreter next to him.
David noted that many people have been asking what he would do now that the show is ending, to which he jokingly said, “Hey, don’t worry about me. I got plenty to do.

The sports book is reopening after Max renewed Bookie, starring Sebastian Maniscalco, for a second season.
The renewal comes two weeks after the season one finale of the show, which comes from Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay.
The series, which premiered on November 30, follows bookie Danny (Maniscalco) as he and his partner, former NFL star Ray (Omar Dorsey), romp around Los Angeles trying to keep their illegal sports betting operation in play.
Season 2 presumably will show whether Danny [Spoiler Alert] can win back the affections of his wife Sandra, played by Andrea Anders, after his Super Bowl win seems to have torn them apart, as well as Ray dealing with the fallout of his mother’s wedding, which saw the groom seemingly die at the altar.

Season 3 of "The Righteous Gemstones" isn't over quite yet, but HBO has already seen the light when it comes to the comedy series about a dysfunctional evangelical empire: The show has just been renewed for a fourth season. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise since the Danny McBride-created show is a raucous crowd-pleaser whose most recent season earned a 100% Rotten Tomatoes critics' score, but it's still exciting news for fans of the show. McBride's previous comedy series, "Vice Principals," was canceled after just two seasons, so it's great that HBO is letting "The Righteous Gemstones" spread its (very silly and stupid) word for at least one more season.
"The Righteous Gemstones" has actually hit higher viewership metrics in season 3 than in either of its earlier seasons, according to a press release from the network. Recent episodes are averaging 4.9 million viewers, making it McBride's most-watched show. For reference, "Succession,...

HBO is listening to the prayers of The Righteous Gemstones fans by green-lighting another season of the hit series. The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 renewal comes as WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike against unfavorable conditions throughout the entertainment industry. Naturally, production on the new season would start once negotiations conclude and new work conditions across both organizations become established.
Created by Danny McBride, The Righteous Gemstones tells the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work. When the Gemstone children finally gain control of the Church, they discover running a holy house is more complicated than they ever imagined.
The Righteous Gemstones has grown exponentially throughout the years. The hit comedy features an extensive cast of comedic greats, including Danny McBride as Jesse Gemstone, Adam Devine as Kelvin Gemstone, John Goodman as Eli Gemstone, Edi Patterson as Judy Gemstone, Cassidy Freeman as Amber Gemstone,...

Created by Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, Somebody Somewhere is inspired by the life of comedian and singer Bridget Everett and is set in her native Kansas. The series follows Sam (played by Everett), a true Kansan on the surface, but, beneath it all, struggling to fit the hometown mold. New episodes of the six-episode season will debut on subsequent Fridays. In season three of How To With John Wilson, documentary filmmaker and self-described “anxious New Yorker” John Wilson continues his heartfelt mission of self-discovery, exploration, and observation as he films the lives of his fellow New Yorkers while attempting to give everyday advice on six new deceptively simple and wildly random topics. This July, John Wilson is going to teach us all how to say goodbye. The third and final season of “How to With John Wilson,” HBO’s critically acclaimed docu-comedy, will premiere on Friday, July 28 at 11 p.m. Et/Pt.
New episodes of the six-episode season will premiere on Fridays and will be available to watch both linearly on HBO and on Max. Topics for this season will include how to find a public restroom, how to work out and how to clean your ears.
In this last season, Wilson will continue his odd yet heartfelt mission of self-discovery and observation as he films his fellow New Yorkers and gives advice on six new, deceptively simple topics. Simply put, there is nothing on TV like “How to With John Wilson.” Wilson’s camera whips between everything from an energy drink millionaire’s lavish mansion party to a dog pooping on the sidewalk.

Bill Hader is certainly happy that people like “Barry,” but he also wants to be clear: the episodes you see are the product of a lot of refinement. Specifically in Season 4 Episode 6, there was an entire Sally storyline that would have (maybe) involved Jennifer Lawrence that was jettisoned and a scene that was reshot mere weeks before the series premiered.
“When you’re doing this stuff, people can tell you you’re great until they’re blue in the face, but you make a lot of mistakes,” Hader told TheWrap in our episodic breakdown interview for Episode 6. “People watch the show and go, ‘Oh my God it’s so good,’ and it’s like, ‘No, I make a lot of mistakes!’ You need smart people who aren’t afraid to tell you you’ve made a mistake to be like, ‘What are you doing?’”

“Barry” is back, and the fourth and final season of the Emmy-winning HBO series picks up pretty immediately where Season 3 left off. Bill Hader’s hitman-turned-aspiring-actor is in prison for the murder of Janice Moss, and the revelation that Barry is a killer has reverberations for everyone on the show. The first two episodes of Season 4 premiered on Sunday night, and TheWrap spoke with Hader – who directed all eight episodes of this final season – about putting it all together.
In the following extended Q&a, Hader talks about the alternate opening scene that was considered for the start of Season 4, an abandoned idea that would have seen the specter of Barry’s father appearing throughout the premiere episode, putting together Sally, Fuches, Gene, Hank and Cristobal’s storylines for Season 4, and the suggestion from Paul Rudd that made it into the first episode. Hader also talks about crafting those two extended oners,...
