Although Daredevil: Born Again features the return of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, the series originally didn’t have any other connection to the Netflix series. When Daredevil: Born Again was forced to shut down last summer due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and other executives grew displeased with the direction of the show and demanded a creative overhaul. According to Cox and D’Onofrio, that overhaul has brought “a lot” of crossover with the original show.
“It originally wasn’t going to be at all, but now it’s a lot,” D’Onofrio told TVInsider. Since the overhaul, we’ve seen other members of the original Daredevil series return, including Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and more. Charlie Cox’s return to the MCU was first announced during the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. Daredevil: Born Again got an official confirmation at the event and the filming of the series began before the Hollywood strikes put a halt to the production. During the strikes, Marvel Studios reconsidered the creative direction and overhauled the entire series with new directors and showrunner.

Since 2021, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin of Crime have shown up in various MCU TV shows.
We've seen the Man Without Fear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo, with Wilson Fisk appearing in the latter and Hawkeye. However, these two haven't shared the screen since Daredevil wrapped up on Netflix six years ago.
That's set to change in Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again and, in an interview with TV Insider, D'Onofrio revealed that the revival originally featured no significant links to Daredevil.
"It originally wasn’t going to be at all, but now it’s a lot," the actor said of crossovers between the two. Cox chimed in to say there's now "a lot" of them, presumably meaning Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, Bullseye, and The Punisher were M.I.A. in the previous iteration of Born Again.

It’s been nearly six years since Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio starred in a series with Daredevil in the title, but in less than a year, they’ll be back to form in Disney+’s Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again. The series is currently slated to arrive in March 2025, and the stars will once again portray vigilante lawyer Matt Murdock, known by most as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, a.k.a. Daredevil, and crime boss Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin. While the actors have made several MCU appearances since their former Netflix series was canceled – most recently in Echo – Daredevil: Born Again will get back to putting Cox and D’Onofrio at the forefront. “It’s fun,” D’Onofrio told TV Insider at the Disney Upfront presentation in New York City on May 14. “The best thing about it is that we like each other and we appreciate each other’s work,...

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is one of the most talked-about upcoming MCU projects, partly due to the fan-fueled hype and partly due to its turbulent production that’s been plagued with everything from SAG-AFTRA strike to creative differences in what the showrunners wanted and what the studio wanted.
Recently, we got a confirmation of the release date. The show is supposed to arrive on Disney+ in March 2025, with 9 episodes in total. Fans were disappointed with this information considering that the original outlines for the show promised 18 episodes.
Despite that, we have to mention that the show was rumored to be a two-part,two-season story, meaning that 9 episodes will be released in March and 9 episodes at some later date. Charlie Cox’s recent comments only support that idea.
Speaking to Deadline, Charlie Cox revealed his future in the MCU along with D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, and we gotta say we’re excited about it.

Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox teased Daredevil: Born Again as Disney+ has targeted March 2025 for the series to premiere.
The duo attended Disney’s upfront presentation to advertisers on Thursday and teased what viewers can expect.
“It’s a phyiscally demanded show, which I love, I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Cox told Deadline on the red carpet. “There will come a time where I am not able to do it anymore but for right now, just keep doing the best job we can and loving it. Feel incredibly grateful for still making this show and hopefully we got another ten years on us.”
Cox said he that returning to the show, his knees are not what they were ten years ago and needed a lot more rehab after shooting the new series. The actor said that during the strikes, he underwent shoulder surgery.

Last year, a creative overhaul saw The Punisher's Dario Scardapane replace Matt Corman and Chris Ord as Daredevil: Born Again's showrunner. Now, all signs point to the Marvel Studios series delivering the take on the Man Without Fear we've been waiting to see in the MCU.
TV Line caught up with Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio at the Upfronts in New York yesterday and asked the former whether the retooling has brought Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk more in line with Netflix's Daredevil.
"Not exactly the same, but much closer," Cox teased. "And potentially much improved."
D'Onofrio added, "It’s hard to comment because I want to say so much about both the [Netflix] show and this show, and the change that happened, but in the end, the last few months of work we did was written beautifully and directed beautifully. Personally, I think it’s as intense as we’ve ever been.

Fans have been waiting for the Disney+ production, Daredevil: Born Again, since it was announced by Kevin Fiege during the 2022 San Diego Comic Con. Starring Charlie Cox as the titular character, the show is alleged to be a soft reboot of the Netflix series Daredevil, which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. After numerous delays because of script changes, as well as the SAG-AFTRA strikes, the show is finally ready to land on the streaming platform.

Yesterday evening, we learned that Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ next March. That's later than expected, but the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes slowed things down, as did Marvel Studios' decision to creatively overhaul a series which wasn't working in its previous form.
TV Line spoke to Charlie Cox, confirming that a total of nine episodes were shot for the series. When Daredevil: Born Again was announced, it was as an 18-episode TV show, so something has clearly changed.
However, this appears to confirm claims from a few online scoopers who have said the series is being split in two, with the other 9 episodes now likely to serve as Daredevil: Born Again "season 2."
In a separate interview (which you can watch below), Cox also revealed that production has wrapped on the series. Given the expense associated with taking the show back to the drawing board, it's possible the rest of...

Men in Black is one of those franchises that defined the late 1990s and the early 2000s, along with franchises like The Mummy and Pirates of the Caribbean. However, given that this was the time when Hollywood did not shy away from experimenting, Men in Black had an earlier draft that would probably have made it less palatable to general audiences.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have been locked in to reprise the roles of hero Matt Murdock / Daredevil and villain Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, characters they originally played on the Marvel-inspired Netflix series Daredevil, on the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again ever since Marvel and Disney+ started pushing the show forward. When their supporting cast was being assembled at the end of 2022, it was announced that Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) had signed on to appear on the show as a love interest to the Fisk – with the word being that she was taking over the role of his wife Vanessa Marianna Fisk, who had previously been played by Ayelet Zurer on the Netflix show. Apparently there had been scheduling issues with Zurer, who said she was “sad to not take part” in the new series… which, at the time, wasn’t meant to line up with the Netflix show perfectly. Daredevil has truly been born again, as more set photos from the upcoming miniseries have emerged. But it’s not just Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock that we’re getting a glimpse of, it’s Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle aka Punisher.
In one photo (courtesy of the Daredevil Updates social media account), we see a suited-up Daredevil alongside Castle as the two look off camera to unseen terror. A main draw here might be the shot of Daredevil’s suit, which we previously saw in other set pics but can now see from a different angle and alongside yet another character. More photos also show The Punisher solo, giving a better look at his own get-up, although he does seem a little more reserved than we might be used to of the character. Bernthal first turned up as Castle in the second season of the 2015-2018 Netflix series.

Did anybody call for a lawyer?
We can barely contain our excitement about the news that Disney+ is bringing back Daredevil in a bid to reignite the character for Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The glimpses of Matt Murdock that we got on Echo and Spiderman: No Way Home were great, but we have missed this tortured, hopeless do-gooder and his heart of gold.

Following its success, the director was brought back to craft the next two sequels in the franchise with a much bigger scope than the first one, which was fairly a street-level film. But being a street-level film was one of Homecoming‘s biggest charms, as it helped the movie differentiate itself from other MCU IPs, and Marvel is reportedly looking to go that route again.
However, per reports, Sony was against this idea and wanted the fourth part to follow in No Way Home‘s footsteps by bringing Watts back, but it appears, it isn’t going in Sony’s favor this time.

Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors in Hollywood, if not the best. It’s in the Phoenix genes it seems. Even his late brother River Phoenix was a great actor. Although all of the Phoenix siblings had embarked on a journey to build a career in the entertainment industry, only River Phoenix and Joaquin Phoenix made it big. However, the former passed away at a young age, unfortunately.
Joaquin Phoenix is best known for his role as the DC Comics character Joker in Todd Philips’ eponymous psychological thriller, released in 2019. All actors have a way of dealing with things because their exposure to public opinion is much more than any other person. Phoenix has a rule for his friends watching his movies. It sounds as cynical as something Joker would do.

Joker: Folie à Deux director Todd Phillips shared a few Valentine’s Day special images featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga on his Instagram. Phillips shared a total of three images depicting the demented romance between Joker and Harley Quinn. Fans are very excited to see the pair, especially after Phoenix’s performance in the previous film and Gaga’s addition after her impressive roles in A Star is Born and House of Gucci.

Phillips confirmed the release date of the film as October 4, 2024. Interestingly, the critical reception of the first film, Joker, was polarizing, but audiences were more accepting of the film. It went on to gross $1.079 billion at the global box office.

Wilson Fisk very much ascribes to the "Speak softly and carry a big stick" philosophy. Except, the crime boss of Hell's Kitchen doesn't need a big stick -- he's got himself. Whether on the pages of a comic book or the screen, the man they call Kingpin always towers over everyone around him. "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," once again demonstrating that animation is uniquely equipped for the superhero genre, exaggerates the proportion of Fisk's shoulders to his head to an absurd degree to literalize the idea of a man who dominates any room he enters. Meanwhile, the late, great Michael Clarke Duncan had little trouble physically embodying the character in the 2003 "Daredevil" movie, being a real-life Jack Reacher at six-foot-five and over 300 pounds.
Vincent D'Onofrio, on the other hand, had a trickier task, having to capture not just Fisk's daunting physical stature but also his vulnerable personality in Netflix's "Daredevil" series.

The Marvel / Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again went into production last year – then when the strikes hit, it underwent a creative overhaul that, according to Vincent D’Onofrio (who plays the villainous Kingpin / Wilson Fisk on the show), has ensured that this new series is now directly connected to the Daredevil series that ran for three seasons on the Netflix streaming service. So not only are D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox (who plays Daredevil / Matt Murdock) back in their roles, but so are Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll as Murdock’s associates Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. Daredevil: Born Again is now back in production, and behind-the-scenes images posted on social media have shown Cox, D’Onofrio, Henson, and Woll on set, along with new cast addition Margarita Levieva as Murdock’s latest love interest, Heather Glenn. These images can be seen at the bottom of this article.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is gearing up for an exciting lineup of upcoming movies, despite recent challenges faced by Marvel Studios in their last few projects. Discussions about reducing project releases have circulated due to concerns about diminishing quality, but amidst this, Spider-Man continues to be the franchise that consistently draws audiences, proving to be Marvel’s most lucrative venture.

MCU has quite a slate of movies coming up, even though Marvel Studios has hit a rough patch with the last couple of projects. There have been talks about releasing fewer projects, as fans are definitely becoming tired of shows and movies of lower quality; still, if one character always managed to drag people to movies, it’s Spider-Man, by far the most profitable Marvel franchise, no matter the product you’re looking at.

As Kingpin once said, “The people need to be reminded that the city belongs to me.” And apparently all of the Kingpin reading material belongs to Vincent D’Onofrio, who has consumed just about every piece he can get his hands on.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, D’Onofrio said, “I’ve seen everything that involved [Wilson] Fisk that’s up to this point. I mean, there’s some of the new runs, the Kingpin runs that I haven’t looked at yet, but as far as everything, any canon that connects Fisk I’ve read.” We sense a little slacking from D’Onofrio, but then again, considering just how much Kingpin material is out there, we can’t entirely fault him for falling behind.
As far as which Kingpin works have grabbed his attention the most, D’Onofrio pointed to the legendary Frank Miller, who wrote Daredevil’s Born Again storyline in 1986. “The [Frank Miller] runs...

Marvel’s ‘Echo’ project has officially integrated several Marvel-based shows into the MCU continuity and timeline, including The Defenders Saga. Initially released on Netflix, The Defenders Saga, also known as Street-Level Heroes and Marvel Knights, focuses on New York City vigilantes within the MCU, beginning with ‘Daredevil’ season one and concluding with ‘Jessica Jones’ season three.
The inclusion of details from ‘Daredevil’ in ‘Echo’ suggests Marvel Studios’ willingness to recognize these projects as part of the MCU canon despite previous events being disregarded in mainline movies and series. Fans had speculated about the canonical status of the first three seasons of ‘Daredevil’ in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ However, with the recent announcement that ‘Born Again’ will be a reboot featuring a new creative team and significant rewriting, the current status of the show remains uncertain – whether it will be a reboot or a continuation.

Even though Charlie Cox, who played the Marvel Comics character Matt Murdock / Daredevil on the Daredevil series that was made for the Netflix streaming service (and is now available on Disney+) has since reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Vincent D’Onofrio also reprised the role of the villainous Wilson Fisk / Kingpin in the Hawkeye series, it hasn’t been clear whether or not that Daredevil show would really be considered part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. When the eighteen episode MCU / Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again went into production with Cox and D’Onofrio in the lead roles, it was apparently branching off in directions that wouldn’t exactly match what had been seen in the Netflix show. But then the writers strike hit, causing Daredevil: Born Again to stop filming for a while… and during the break, Marvel executives watched the...

Numerous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects are currently in progress or slated for imminent release. However, none generate as much excitement among fans as ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Initially intended as a reboot of the existing Netflix ‘Daredevil’ series, the plan to revive the live-action Daredevil Universe within the MCU faced a setback. Fans were notably disappointed, as the reboot meant that certain beloved cast members wouldn’t be reprising their roles.

Plenty of MCU projects are in development or bound to soon be released, but none gets the fans hyped as ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ a reboot of the already existing Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ show, or that was the original plan in any case. Yes, the live-action Daredevil Universe was supposed to be rebooted with the new McU-based show, and fans were disappointed, to say the least, because this meant that some of the cast members that we’ve grown to love won’t return.

[This story contains spoilers for Echo.]
Echo star Vincent D’Onofrio isn’t ready to say whether Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk has been healed by Maya Lopez.
At the end of Disney+ and Hulu’s five-episode miniseries, Echo, Maya (Alaqua Cox) utilizes the powers of her Choctaw ancestors to enter Fisk’s mind and potentially heal him of his childhood trauma involving his abusive father and the ball-peen hammer he used to stop him. Once Maya releases Fisk from her grip, he desperately wants to know what she’s done to him, but he’s whisked away before the police arrive on the scene.
At this moment, D’Onofrio can’t give the game away, especially with Daredevil: Born Again still en route.
“That’s a good question, but I can’t answer that question. That question is boxed up in a lot of other stuff, and I can’t open that box,” D’Onofrio tells The Hollywood Reporter.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Echo Season 1, Episode 5, “Maya.”] Disney+‘s latest Marvel entry is bringing some fan-favorite characters back into the mix with Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Kingpin, but is it also teeing up Daredevil: Born Again? In the opening episode of the season, viewers are taken back in time to a point when Maya was still learning the ropes before joining Fisk’s organization full-time. On one of her first ventures out, she has a scuffle with Daredevil against which she holds her own. The following contains spoilers for Marvel's "Echo."
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has made interesting detours in its television output, with several shows on Disney+ that serve as side-stories to the greater overarching MCU "phases." Now they've started releasing stories under the "Marvel Spotlight" banner, which allows for much more adult content than the family-friendly MCU fare people have grown accustomed to, and the first mini-series under the banner is "Echo." "Echo" follows the story of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), an Indigenous woman who was taken in by Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) after the death of her father. In the comics, she eventually becomes a superhero through a very long, painful journey that sees her go from one of Kingpin's goons to helping out the New Avengers, even teaming up with Moon Knight and Daredevil along the way. Ah, Netflix’s Daredevil. We didn’t know how good we had it.
We all thrilled to the series’ first season, with its violent actions and powerful performances from Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, but the second season got too muddled with the Punisher and Elektra, and then Netflix diluted the Marvel shows with seasons that went on too long and the boring crossover Defenders. Daredevil‘s third season returned the show to its former glory, but by that time, too many viewers had fallen off.
So when Cox’s Matt caught a brick in Spider-Man: No Way Home and when D’Onofrio’s Fisk lumbered into the final episode of Hawkeye, fans got excited. In this era of mediocre Marvel entries, Daredevil and Kingpin would bring a much-needed edge back to the MCU. Daredevil’s one-episode...

In 2021, Marvel Studios introduced the character of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) in Hawkeye. Lopez was the complex and violent right hand of New York crime lord Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), but towards the end of that miniseries she came to realize that Fisk was behind the murder of her father, so she cornered him in a back street and shot him in the head.
After so decisively confronting Kingpin and freeing herself from his grip, you might wonder why both Cox and D’Onofrio are back in the five-episode spinoff series, Echo. The answer is that Maya apparently needed to confront Kingpin again and free herself from his grip, but this time in a more unsatisfying way than before. Marvel, I’m losing my mind.

It's long been debated whether the Netflix Marvel series were Marvel Cinematic Universe canon. The shows advertised themselves as being connected to the MCU movies; "Daredevil" obliquely referred to the alien invasion of New York City in "The Avengers" as "the incident," and criminal overseer Wesley (Toby Leonard Moore) even quipped to some goons, "If [Daredevil] had an iron suit or a magic hammer, maybe that would explain why you keep getting your asses handed to you." However, these connections were very much a one-way street.
Since then, though, Vincent D'Onofrio returned as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin on "Hawkeye," while Charlie Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "She-Hulk." These days, legacy can be a burden for television. Whether it’s the legacy of a beloved property poised to be bastardized via reboot, the legacy of a network or star, the legacy of a brilliant debut now hinging upon equal or better subsequent installment, there are legacies intertwined in too many new shows, hanging in the balance as studios and streamers churn out new stories.
But legacy doesn’t matter so much to Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) the lead of Marion Dayre’s “Echo,” now streaming in full on Disney+. Whether it’s her family, her employer, or the stories passed down to her as a child, Maya is more interested in forging her own path than appeasing various players around her. Like “Echo” itself, she stands alone and stands tall — distinct and imposing compared to any imitation.

Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Marvel Studios’ Echo, releasing on Hulu and Disney+. Photo courtesy of Marvel Studios. © 2023 Marvel. Echo is a new television entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, spinning off characters from the show Hawkeye into a new setting and a new story. Vincent D’Onofrio and his character Wilson Fisk (a.k.a Kingpin) make the leap into the new show, pursuing Alaqua Cox’s Echo/Maya Lopez character to her hometown in Oklahoma. As has been the case in Kingpin’s other MCU appearances, he’s the villain of the story, and a clever one at that. D’Onofrio spoke about how he’s enjoyed playing his MCU character for exactly that reason, because he may be the villain, but he’s often the smartest one on the screen.
