A couple days ago, Sony Pictures unveiled a trailer for their Marvel Comics adaptation Venom: The Last Dance, giving us our first look at the film that’s meant to wrap up the Venom series and is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release. Now Forbes has published an interview with star Tom Hardy in which he talks about ending the series with a bang – and teased that this movie might have an R rating. (The previous two Venom movies were rated PG-13.)
Hardy told Forbes, “This one – I’m so, so excited about because we’ve gone much bigger. If the mission statement is commercial, blockbuster, action and superhero movie, how can we imbue a sense of something that’s fun and different? What’s going to entice people that they have a memory, they have a moment, they have an event? This comes from us who are really,...

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe hasn’t had a great start this year, with ‘Madame Web’ being a disappointing flop. However, there’s hope with two big releases lined up: ‘Kraven the Hunter’ and the last movie in the ‘Venom’ series.
Yes, you heard it right, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ marks the end of the ‘Venom’ franchise in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. There’s speculation that the character might crossover into the MCU in the future, but that’s just hearsay for now. Given the mystery surrounding the movie, let’s summarize what we know so far about its plot, cast, release date, and other details.
The movie’s plot is kept secret
Typically, comic adaptations are rife with leaks and insider information, but the ‘Venom’ franchise has been surprisingly tight-lipped. As a result, we have no official or unofficial hints about the movie’s plot.

A third film in the Marvel Comics-inspired Venom franchise made its way through production last year, shutting down for several months along the way due to the Screen Actors Guild strike. Now the film, titled Venom: The Last Dance, is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release – and today, Sony Pictures is starting to build the hype by unveiling the first trailer! You can check it out in the embed above.
The first Venom was scripted by Jeff Pinker, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel. Ruben Fleischer directed that film, which made $856 million. But then Fleischer turned his focus to making Zombieland: Double Tap and Uncharted – so Andy Serkis took over as director on Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Marvel's best couple is coming back to try and save Sony's woebegone live-action Spider-Verse one final time. With "Morbius" failing to make "It's Morbin' Time!" happen and "Madame Web" falling harder than Dakota Johnson trying to pop the lid on a soda can, it's up to Tom Hardy's lobster tank-diving journalist Eddie Brock and his tater tots-snacking, gooey-hearted (and just plain gooey) boyfriend Venom to keep the studio's hopes of a viable "Spider-Man" extended universe alive. (At least until Aaron Taylor-Johnson's nose-biting Kraven the Hunter arrives to usher in the next Yuletide season classic.)
"Venom: The Last Dance" sees "Venom" and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" co-writer Kelly Marcel trying her hand at directing for the first time, once again drawing from a story she cooked up with Hardy. The pair have gradually become the main creative driving force behind this franchise over the course of the trilogy,...

With just five months to go until the release of Venom: The Last Dance, we surprisingly know very little about the movie, but that’s all set to change as there have been rumblings that the first trailer will debut next week.
The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has classified a 2-minute, 27-second trailer for Venom: The Last Dance. Scooper Daniel Richtman narrowed down the release window, saying it will be released on Monday. The trailer is expected to screen in front of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which hits theaters on June 7th.
Related Venom 3 gets a new title and release date
As I mentioned above, plot details regarding Venom: The Last Dance have been kept under wraps, so it will be nice to finally know a little of what to expect from what’s being billed as the third and final installment of the franchise. Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock/Venom,...

When Tom Hardy first appeared as the fan-favorite Eddie Brock/Venom, it was largely the ideal combination. The grit, acting chops, and intrepid energy that Hardy brought to the character meant that Sony immediately had a hit on their hands.
While Venom was rated PG-13, it did not need to showcase a large amount of violence and gore in order to attract audiences. That was a job done by the film’s narrative, and the evergreen, oft-hilarious charm of Tom Hardy.

Regardless, Sony did what Sony does, and showed every intention of turning the Hardy-led movie into a full-blown franchise. Our favorite extraterrestrial symbiote, in an unfortunate manner, gave birth to an offspring in the form of Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady / Carnage. However, things did not work out as well as the first time around.

With Andy Serkis stepping behind the camera, expectations were high for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The movie ended up being a big improvement over its predecessor, but a PG-13 rating neutered Cletus Kasady and held the movie back to a large degree.
A post-credits scene teasing Venom's meeting with Spider-Man increased fan interest, only for Spider-Man: No Way Home's own stinger to send Eddie Brock back where he came from without ever meeting Peter Parker.
Venom: The Last Dance is up next and that movie will reportedly be Tom Hardy's final appearance as Eddie. Kelly Marcel, who wrote Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, now writes and directs...whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen.

It was recently confirmed that Venom: The Last Dance will be the final movie in Sony's hit franchise. That could be because Tom Hardy is ready to move on or a result of Marvel Studios having its own plans for the Symbiote.
Either way, after the runaway success of 2018's Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage's respectable performance in the post-pandemic 2021, Sony is no doubt hoping this trilogy ends on a high (and profitable) note.
While the movie remains shrouded in secrecy, a newly surfaced plot leak for Venom: The Last Dance has been gaining traction on social media this evening.
In that, it's said Venom sets out to kill a 10-year-old Peter Parker in an effort to avoid suffering the same fate as many of his Multiversal Variants: death at the hands of Spider-Man (which would tie into the post-credits scenes of both the Venom sequel...

Shooting has wrapped on Venom: The Last Dance and with a little over five months before it arrives in theaters, we're hoping an official first look is somewhere on the horizon.
Sony Pictures could do with a win after delivering flops like Morbius and Madame Web, but only time will tell whether the Venom threequel can give them one. After all, most fans aren't expecting much from Kraven the Hunter, a movie recently pushed back to December 13.
Now, a first look at the stunt team's crew gift has been revealed and it may reveal Venom: The Last Dance's big bad.
As you can see in the X post below, green is being used for the "3" in the movie's logo, while three green slashes can also be seen across the Symbiote's unmistakable face.
Looking at the comics, we have to believe this is meant as a reference to Lasher.

Venom: The Last Dance's Official Logo Has Been Revealed As Merchandise Starts Finding Its Way Online
We've already seen a fake logo for Venom: The Last Dance, and plenty of fan-made efforts have continued to do the rounds ever since. Now, though, generic merchandise has surfaced on Amazon which finally reveals the real deal.
It's not overly exciting if we're being honest, but a logo is a logo and we'll be seeing a lot more of this in the coming months. Like the title itself, it doesn't give much away and we wouldn't necessarily assume the red is any sort of giveaway about who Venom is facing.
The fact this logo has surfaced now could be an indication that a trailer is somewhere on the horizon and we'd put money on it being ready to go with Bad Boys: Ride or Die in June.
Merchandise for the Venom franchise has typically been pretty rare outside of Funko Pops and the odd Hot Toys figure, so we...

Kevin Feige still wants to make Avengers: Secret Wars the biggest phenomenon in the superhero genre, despite the numerous setbacks faced by the studio. While his Og Marvel characters have started failing him, Feige wants other new characters from Sony and 20th Century Fox to play major roles in upcoming films. Most notably, Feige is reportedly eyeing Tom Hardy’s Venom to play a key role in Avengers 6.

It’s a big year for Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent comic book universe. The year started with Madame Web connecting them all – and this summer, we’ll see Aaron Taylor-Johnson make his debut as the title character of J.C. Chandor’s Kraven The Hunter. And beyond that, there’s a third film to come from the ‘Spumc’ (as it was once known) in 2024 – Tom Hardy’s third outing as Venom. Now, some fresh details have emerged about what’s in store.
The film has received the official title Venom: The Last Dance – a title that indicates a possible trilogy-capping final chapter. Or, perhaps, a Magic Mike-esque bout of male stripping. Perhaps even both. The film – both written and directed by Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote on Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage – also has a new release date, set to hit screens on 25 October. Sony has announced that Venom 3’s official title is Venom: The Last Dance, and has moved its US release date forward from November to October 2024.
The third and final film in Sony’s unholy trinity of Spider-Man adjacent releases for 2024, Venom 3 has now been given an official title – Venom: The Last Dance. Its US release date has also been moved forward a touch – from its original 8th November slot to 25th October. And that’s it. Bye!
Wait, you want more? Sigh.
As the new title implies, Venom: The Last Dance is billed as Tom Hardy’s final outing as the titular anti-hero, also known as Eddie Brock. British screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who wrote the previous two films – 2018’s Venom and 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage – will also direct as well as produce this time round, making it quite an auteur project.

Venom 3 has reportedly completed its filming and is heading in the right direction for its planned theatrical release by the end of this year. Andrew Garfield fans cannot forgive Sony for not giving him a deserved trilogy, while Tom Hardy’s villain is getting his sweet three films. Many fans also complained about Sony making a Spider-Man villain trilogy without the central superhero appearing in the films.
Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock / Venom will return in the upcoming film Venom 3
Kelly Marcel, who wrote the screenplay for the first two films, serves as the director of Venom 3. While the first two Venom movies were profitable, the fate of the third film hangs in the balance due to the studio’s current reputation.

Juno Temple recently spilled the beans on ‘Venom 3’, revealing that the film is almost done shooting. She chatted with Variety at the 2024 SAG Awards and couldn’t hide her excitement. She mentioned it’s been a thrilling adventure on such a massive set and working with an amazing team. Temple is new to the ‘Venom‘ series, joining other actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor and Clark Backo in this latest installment. With Kelly Marcel directing and Tom Hardy co-writing, there’s a lot of buzz around this film.
Filming faced delays last year due to the SAG-AFTRA strike but got back on track in November. Hardy, who’s back as Eddie Brock, has put his heart into this project, according to Temple. She believes no one else could nail the Venom role as he does.

Juno Temple confirmed to Variety On the Carpet presented by Directv while at the 2024 SAG Awards that “Venom 3” is finally nearing the end of filming. The “Ted Lasso” star is one of the new additions to the “Venom” franchise alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and Clark Backo in the upcoming third movie, which is being directed by Kelly Marcel and features a story that leading man Tom Hardy co-created.
“We’re coming close to an end at the moment,” Temple said. “It’s been a wild, wonderful ride. It’s so new to me. It’s a big set! This is crazy. It’s been so much fun and I got to work with such cool people. I’ve been so lucky in my career to just have the most incredible casts. I can’t wait for it to get out into the world. I think it’s going to be a good one.

On December 6, the 2023 IndieWire Honors ceremony will celebrate 11 filmmakers, creators, and actors for their achievements in creative independence. We’re showcasing their work with new interviews leading up to the Los Angeles event.
Kelly Marcel, who believes in signs from the universe and sees magic everywhere, was at home with her six-month-old baby when “The Changeling” appeared at the door.
“The book landed, I read it, and I was horrified,” the showrunner said, laughing as she recalled her overly intense introduction to Victor Lavalle’s dark fantasy novel from 2017.
“I was at home with a new baby, and I was experiencing all of that crazy stuff that you go through as a new mom, whilst reading this horrifying book about parenting! Ultimately, it’s very hopeful and incredibly beautiful, but it was also scary and felt very real to me as well.”

Directors of the Apple TV+ supernatural series The Changeling, Jonathan Van Tulleken and Michael Francis Williams, spoke about how they created tension between characters in their new exclusive interview.
Van Tulleken explained how his first step in creating this tension is by “looking at the script.”
He poses questions to himself about the language like, “Whose point of view is it? You know how do you draw the audience into sort of this subjective dreamlike experience?”
Williams added, “It’s trying to bridge the gap between the audience and what we see on the page of the script.”
Actors can do this by using visual tricks to make viewers feel their tension.
Specifically in The Changeling, they noted that there are a lot of elements at play like, “magic realism and horror and suspense” that were helpful for the directors to use.
Williams explained how he was able to do this in his episode.

[This story contains spoilers for the season finale of The Changeling.]
The Changeling showrunner Kelly Marcel, and author and executive producer Victor Lavalle, say last Friday’s season finale was never designed to be an ending for the adaptation. But, they did want viewers to come away from the Apple TV+ series’ first season with a “what the fuck” feeling.
The duo, who appeared on a Saturday panel for the show at New York Comic Con, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the season finale, which saw Apollo (Lakeith Stanfield) and Cal (Jane Kaczmarek) — the leader of a band of women who have had their babies stolen by a Norwegian male-led cult called the Kinder Garten — joining forces against a cult member named William (Samuel T. Herring) and a giant, destructive “Fairy.”

Emma Valentine, Apollo Kagwa’s better half in the AppleTV+ show The Changeling, is one of the most enigmatic characters in recent memory. The portrayal by Clark Backo is haunting yet mesmerizing. There are times when her arc seems to go nowhere, and it frustrates us, but ultimately, we realize that the emotional weight of what transpired could only be transferred to us via this journey that Emma undertook. Apollo came into her life like a breath of fresh air. She saw her whole life ahead of her and decided Apollo was the one she wanted to share it with, but nothing could have prepared her for motherhood. If Apollo had problems emanating from his father’s absence in his childhood, Emma had her fair share of problems related to her mother. In a way, Emma’s history was more traumatizing as it wasn’t kept a secret. Let’s...

The Changeling has been a journey, to say the least. With the promise of a modern fairy tale in a fictional New York, the show had an exciting premise, with parenthood, specifically black parenting in America, at the center of it all. But the execution is rather rough around the edges and ends up falling short with the pacing and the order of the episodes. Interestingly, episode 7 dove into a completely different arc of the story, Apollo’s mother’s story, and gave us an insight as to why Apollo’s son may have been “sacrificed,” so to speak. What plants the series firmly in our minds are the performances of the parents, Lakeith Stanfield and Clark Backo. Interestingly, the last episode of the series is its shortest, and it is actually paced much better than the rest of the series. Regarding the story, on the other hand, I am...

In “Stormy Weather,” the penultimate episode of The Changeling, all the flashbacks of Apollo’s (Lakeith Stanfield) childhood and the early days of his mother’s relationship with his father Brian (Jared Abrahamson) that have been sprinkled throughout the season bring viewers to the Elk Hotel in Times Square, a seedy location steeped in even darker memories. It’s there that Lillian Kagwa (Adina Porter) recounts the deal she made decades prior, which sets in motion the turmoil her son is now enduring as a father.
Through a series of monologues, a vocal performance and musings on faith, motherhood and identity that unfold like a secret stage play only select audiences have privy to, Lillian reveals the totality of the incident that forced her to emigrate from Uganda to the United States, and the chilling threats Brian nearly made good on one day that forced her to kill...

Episode 6 may be the best episode of The Changeling yet. We were all praises of Lakeith Stanfield’s performance in episode 5, but Clark Backo hits it out of the park in this one. We really see her determination as a mother to get to her son (the real one) after she destroyed everybody’s trust, especially Apollo’s, and fled the scene. While Apollo thought she was a murderous witch, acting on the orders of Cal and her women, Emma was busy trying to make her way to her son. Clark has the ability to be frightening in one second and then emotional in the next, balancing the act of being a mother on a mission in between all of that. Truly great stuff from her here. Let’s quickly get into the episode.

“The Changeling” director and executive producer Jonathan van Tulleken broke down how he captured a “painful” scene that was inspired by “The Changeling” author Victor Lavalle’s real-life experience growing up. The scene — where Apollo Kagwa’s (Lakeith Stanfield) mother is compelled to leave her young son home alone while she goes to work — plays out in the third episode of Apple TV+ series.
Fear and uncertainty describe what a viewer might experience while watching the Stanfield-led horror-drama, “The Changeling.” But those words can also describe the experience of parenthood, which is one of the backdrops upon which “The Changeling” rests.
“There’s definitely strands of postpartum depression, how difficult is to be a mother, how difficult it is to be a Black mother,” van Tulleken told TheWrap about “The Changeling,” which was adapted from Victor Lavalle’s book and carries the same title.
Tulleken, who directed Episodes 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the freshman series,...

The Changeling is a horror fantasy series created by Kelly Marcel. The Apple TV+ series is based on a novel of the same name by Victor Lavalle and it follows the love story of Apollo (Lakeith Stanfield) and Emma (Clark Backo) until it turns into a horrific nightmare when Emma disappears after doing something horrible and Apollo is risking his life in her search.
The Apple TV+ series is a very surreal experience filled with tense and dark moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The creators of the series have done a wonderful job in making a distinct horror series that will surely be loved by its audience.

At its best, Apple TV+’s new series The Changeling has been called “the most unique fantasy show of 2023,” and at its worst “mediocre.” Director and executive producer Jonathan van Tulleken is fine with either assessment.
“When people don’t like it, they really don’t like it; when people love it, they really love it,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter of the strong reactions to the horror fantasy, which debuted its first three episodes Sept. 8. “You never know how it’s going to go when you’re making something. All you can do is immerse yourself in the story, especially as the director, and hope that you get the best performances and the best visuals and that you can hold the story together and push it through.”

The Changeling promised twisted fairytales, and that's what we got with the three-episode premiere.
Unfortunately, despite an excellent plot and flawless acting, the new Apple TV+ horror fantasy struggles out of the gate because of its dreadful attempt to tell a story across multiple timelines.
The Changeling Season 1 Episode 1 started strongly enough, but the pace slowed considerably on The Changeling Season 1 Episode 2, and The Changeling Season 1 Episode 3 became the biggest chore to watch.
It's unfortunate because Lakeith Stanfield and Clark Backo turn in awards-worthy performances as this husband and wife whose lives are changed forever, seemingly out of nowhere.
The series needed to establish this bond between Apollo and Emmy off the bat because it made the horror they endured so much more challenging to watch.
Don't get me wrong: Many scenes could have been left on the cutting room floor because we understood their bond when they saw each other.

In Apple TV+’s The Changeling, a man searches for his wife after she does something horrific following the birth of their first child. While we don’t see the specifics of that truly disturbing event until a bit later, the premiere sets up one dark, twisted fairy tale that provides tons of mystery and intrigue from the jump.
The story begins in 2010 at the library where Emma Valentine (Clark Backo) works. After she deals with an unsettled homeless man, Apollo (Lakeith Stanfield) is smitten by her and asks her out. She declines, but that doesn’t stop him from...
