A few songs into Kings of Leon’s new album, frontman Caleb Followill asks something uncomfortable: “Are we still having fun?” The answer: yes, but maybe in a way you wouldn’t expect. Over two decades after the Tennessee rockers released their excellent debut Youth & Young Manhood, Kings of Leons’ ninth studio LP serves as a fresh start for the band. It’s the sound of veteran musicians searching for an answer as they underpin their characteristic gritty Southern arena-size garage-rock with surprisingly sleek-and-polished grooves. Following the band’s introspective 2021 LP When You See Yourself,...

Kings of Leon have shared a new single, “Split Screen.” The song will appear on the rock band’s forthcoming 9th LP, Can We Please Have Fun, out on May 10 via Capitol Records. A press release notes that the song “lands in the middle of the album, a more meditative section of songs that favor texture and atmosphere.”
“We like this song,” the band said in a statement. “We thought the fans would like it too. ‘Split Screen’ may give people a little insight into the depth of the album,...

Kings of Leon are back to announce their ninth studio album, Can We Please Have Fun, which will be released on May 10th. The band has also revealed the album’s lead single, “Mustang,” and mapped out a lengthy 2024 tour.
Can We Please Have Fun was produced by trusted hitmaker Kid Harpoon, and marks Kings of Leon’s first album with Capitol Records. According to a statement from the band, Can We Please Have Fun aims to take Kings of Leon’s established sound and take it all a little less seriously. “It was the most enjoyable record I’ve ever been a part of,” says vocalist Caleb Followill. “It’s like we allowed ourselves to be musically vulnerable,” drummer Nathan Followill says. “I love it when a rock band is not embarrassed to admit that every song doesn’t have to be on 11.”

Miley Cyrus took home one of the night’s top prizes, record of the year, at the 2024 Grammys for “Flowers,” presented by Meryl Streep and her son-in-law, Mark Ronson.
Streep kicked off the presentation by saying they would be presenting the best album of the year, because a record is an album. Then Ronson explained that is not what the award is. It actually recognizes everything that goes into making a song, including artists, producers, recording engineers, mixers and mastering engineers.
“Flowers” producers Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson; engineers/mixers Michael Pollack, Brian Rajaratnam and Mark “Spike” Stent; and mastering engineer Joe Laporta were also recognized for the award.
“Thank you all so much,” Cyrus began her acceptance speech. “This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday. Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular.

In the history of the GDMAs thus far, Swift is the only artist who has won Artist of the Year. She’s also the only artist who has won Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Leading up to the Grammy nominations on Nov. 10, Rolling Stone is breaking down 16 different categories. For each, we’re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.
You might think that Taylor Swift would dominate in this category, but she has just one win out of four nominations. It’s likely that voters think of Swift as so strong in the general fields that they don’t mark their ballot for her here. Miley Cyrus has a good shot, but her smash hit...

Miley Cyrus is standing in the backyard of the Los Angeles home where Frank Sinatra once lived, glowing in the sun as she sings about a man who broke his own heart. She won’t take the blame, but she’s sorry that it happened. The house is the same location where she shot the “Flowers” music video, and it’s also the backdrop of Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions), the Disney+ special that premiered Friday and finds the singer debuting live performances of songs from her just-released eighth studio Endless Summer Vacation.

Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation is the perfect goodbye to messy histories and hello to new opportunities. Teased by the enlightened divorce bop “Flowers,” Cyrus zeroes in on the independence angle as she reflects on past relationships and finally accepts the heartbreak while welcoming in new love for herself and others.
The pop star’s eighth LP is as much a statement of moving on as it is a mature amalgamation of her musical history. There are moments of perfect, on-trend radio pop blended with country, psychedelic rock, and Eighties synths.

“I’m on an island, dirty dancing in the sun,” sings Miley Cyrus on Endless Summer Vacation. The line perfectly captures the mood of a sensual but solitary eighth album served at an unexpectedly slow, controlled sizzle.
Released back in January, the only advance single – “Flowers” – was a poppy, post-break-up anthem. It saw the 30-year-old former child star strut confidently away from her marriage to Liam Hemsworth, proclaiming: “I can love me better than you can.” It sounded as though Cyrus might be sticking with the banging groove she established on 2020’s rock-indebted Plastic Hearts.
But anyone with an eye on the track’s producer, Kid Harpoon, may have caught a whiff of what was to come. The English producer slash songwriter born Thomas Hull won both a Grammy (for album of the year) and a Brit (for songwriter of the year) for his work on Harry Styles’s 2022 album Harry’s House.

Miley Cyrus fans have something special to look forward to this year: a new album - and now we have the official tracklist. On Feb. 27, Cyrus unveiled the titles of all 13 songs on "Endless Summer Vacation" via an Instagram video, which also revealed that the album features none other than Sia and Brandi Carlisle as featured artists.
Back on Jan. 12, Cyrus dropped the album's first single, "Flowers," along with the accompanying music video. The song is an exuberant ode to self-love, with the refrain "I can love me better than you can" hammering home Cyrus's message: she's not sacrificing her peace for anyone.
She also seems to reference ex-husband Liam Hemsworth in the first verse. "We were right 'til we weren't / Built a home and watched it burn," she sings, which appears referring to the home she and Hemsworth shared in Malibu that was destroyed by the 2018 Woosley Fire.

Harry Styles took home album of the year and Best Pop Vocal Album honour at the recently concluded Grammy Awards.
After the ceremony, he spoke with Variety and said that he disagrees with the idea of ‘Best Music’ and that musicians never make a track with the intention of bagging the ‘Best Music’ award. Like every artistic expression music too comes from heart and then moves outwards as it connects with the audience.
The ‘As It Was’ singer told Variety: “A lot of different times in my life, I’ve listened to a lot of people in this category when I’m alone. I think on nights like tonight, it’s important to remember that there’s no such thing as ‘best’ in music. The Grammys shocked everyone — including Harry Styles himself — by naming Harry’s House the Album of the Year.
Styles appeared a little stunned as he walked onstage and accepted his trophy, which was presented to him by an elderly super fan, who had shared her excitement for Styles earlier in the telecast. He then shouted out his fellow nominees in the category, which included Beyoncé’s Renaissance and Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti. “I’ve been so, so inspired by every artist in this category with me,” he said.

The 2023 Grammy Awards returned to the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday evening, and while Beyoncé made history by breaking the record for the most Grammy wins of all time, Harry Styles took home Album of the Year for his album “Harry’s House.” Styles also won Best Pop Vocal Album.
Beyoncé took home four awards, bringing her career total to 32 — enough to unseat composer Georg Solti as the winningest artist of all time. But this marks the fourth time in a row she’s lost Album of the Year. An astonishing fact for the Grammy record-holder.

The 65th Grammy Awards take place on Sunday 5 February, with music fans preparing for the rematch of the century: Adele vs Beyoncé.
Both artists are up for Album of the Year, six years after Adele took home the top prize for her third record, 25. The win over Beyoncé’s critically adored surprise album Lemonade was highly controversial; Adele herself famously declared that Beyoncé deserved the prize during her acceptance speech.
This year, the British singer is competing with her record-obliterating fourth album, 30, released in 2021. A four-star review in The Independent praised the songs as “handsomely crafted ballads about love and its various agonies”, with Adele’s voice, as ever, the main draw. “Adele possesses that perfectly imperfect voice, gargantuan and frail all at once,” critic Annabel Nugent wrote. “It’s epic without resorting to showy, melismatic affectations. It yawns into unexpected shapes and makes intonation fun.”

Producer/songwriter Kid Harpoon, a.k.a. Tom Hull, has had a wildly successful 2022 so far, co-producing and co-writing every track on Harry Styles’ Harry’s House (including the Number One hit “As It Was”), as well as doing the same for Maggie Rogers’ rock-influenced second album, Surrender. On top of that, he worked on new songs for his longtime collaborators Florence and the Machine, as well as Lizzo’s “If You Love Me.”
He worked on the Rogers and Styles albums simultaneously, and was struck by the contrast between them.

Harry Styles has responded to a bizarre rumour that he is bald.
During a recent interview, the singer was asked about the unfounded rumour that his hair was, in fact, a wig and that he’s secretly bald.
The conspiracy theory appears to have started after a blind item on social media gossip page Deux Moi claimed an A-list male pop star and occasional actor was secretly balding.
Some people on TikTok began making detailed videos inspecting Styles’ hairline, as he fits the description of the post thanks to his roles in Dunkirk and upcoming appearance in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling and gay romance drama, My Policeman.
Styles told Rolling Stone that he was made aware of the bizarre theory by his friend and collaborator Tom Hull (aka Kid Harpoon) who is “obsessed” with the rumour.
