A Wounded Fawn Trailer: A Killer Cat-And-Mouse Game With A Surrealist Twist Hits Shudder In December
If you haven't already noticed, Shudder has been on a roll with its original acquisitions this year. From "Mad God" to "Resurrection" and everything else in between, it has proven itself as the premier horror speciality streamer. Now, it looks to add to its increasingly demented collection with Travis Stevens' surrealist rollercoaster "A Wounded Fawn."
You think you might know where this movie is going based on the first half of its new trailer. An obviously creepy man (Josh Ruben) lures an art collector named Meredith (Sarah Lind) to his secluded cabin in the woods. When she realizes that he may have sinister motivations, their dangerous cat-and-mouse game commences. However, there's something much more sinister going on behind this conventional plot, if the bizarre imagery involving demons and snakes throughout the trailer proves anything.

Externo begins with a series of disclaimers written in bold red lettering as the screen glides through a kaleidoscope of monochrome imagery:
‘This film is based on a true story… The reality that you will see in this film is not real… The rulers don’t behave as we show in this film… So, please be kind and don’t interpret this story as reality’.
Is this an earnest plea, sardonic irony or a pointed rebuttal of conspiracy extremists? It might be all three. In any case, it becomes obvious that the filmmakers have an appropriately skeptical view of the world and an awareness of the monied interests that shape it.
Our focaliser is Joseph (Leandro Taub), a radical businessman who plans to conquer the world with $2000 dollars and a smart phone. Living off-grid in a derelict warehouse, Joseph liaises with a network of industries, plotting ways in which to...

Jodorowsky actor directorial debut to be presented at new co-production event; Reygadas curates for Filmfest Hamburg.
Argentinian actor Leandro Taub’s directorial debut The Dream of the Guest and Slovenian filmmaker Jan Cvitkovic’s new feature film Mercedes Fire Horse are among the projects to be presented at a new co-production event, the Matchbox Coproduction Lounge, during this year’s Oldenburg International Film Festival (Sept 14-18).
Matchbox’s inaugural edition will also present Buddy Giovinazzo’s Potsdamer Platz which had been the last project, which the late Tony Scott had optioned to direct.
Taub, who was a lead actor in veteran Chilean director Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Cannes competition film Endless Poetry this year, wrote the screenplay for the comedy drama which centres on how a family’s life changes dramatically when a special guest, claiming to be building a space ship, moves into their home to “confront them” with his strong belief in the possibility of the...

Alejandro Jodorowsky is gearing up for a sequel to "The Dance Of Reality." The picture is called "Endless Poetry," and finds the filmmaker gathering together Dante Jodorowsky, Adan Jodorowsky, Brontis Jodorowsky, Pamela Flores, and Leandro Taub for the fantastical telling of "Jodorowsky’s teenage years in Santiago, Chile" chronicling "his struggle to overcome family pressure and find his path as an artist and a poet." A crowd-funding campaign for the low-budget movie kicks off later this month. [Variety] Alex De la Iglesia ("Witching & Bitching," "The Last Circus") will next direct the comedy "My Big Night." The story "unspools at a lavish New Year’s Eve TV show, where the frenzied fake bonhomie contrasts with the shoot date – a sweltering mid-August – the participants’ actions and sentiments, and the solitude of the studio’s setting." Filming starts this month. [Variety] "The Guest"...
