It's looking less likely with each passing day that a mass audience will be able to see Dave Green's comedy film "Coyote vs. Acme." Despite being complete, Warner Bros. infamously decided to cancel the film's release -- and delete it from existence -- just to obtain a massive tax write-off. The few Hollywood insiders who have seen "Coyote vs. Acme" have gone on the record, assuring audiences that it's good. Meanwhile, WB has reportedly received multiple offers for the film from other studios, yet has rejected each and every one of them. It seems "Coyote vs. Acme" is doomed to become yet another lost film, sacrificed on the alter of the Bottom Line. It makes one wonder how many other films have been similarly deleted.

In a significant backpedal, Warner Bros. has reversed its decision to shelve the completed Coyote vs. Acme film, and is now allowing an outside distributor to purchase the film after significant public protest, a source confirmed to Rolling Stone.
It’s been a quick turnaround from Thursday when it was first reported that Warner Bros. was using the live-action/animation hybrid starring John Cena and Lana Condor as an estimated $30 million tax write-off instead of moving ahead with a theatrical and/or streaming release.

Last week, filmmakers, critics and movie fans showed a rare, completely united front in castigating the move by Warner Bros. to lock another of its projects away in a vault, preferring to take a tax write-down instead of releasing it, as with Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt last year. The new movie was Coyote Vs. Acme, which blends CG Wile E. Coyote with live-action John Cena and more. Now, after the outcry, Puck brings word that executives are reportedly changing their minds and allowing the movie's producers to shop it elsewhere.

A year after Warner Bros. decided to shelve Batgirl — to outcry from the public and the film’s own crew — the studio once again decided to ax another completed film project: Coyote vs. Acme.
The live-action/animation hybrid starring John Cena and Lana Condor was originally intended for Max before it was given a theatrical release date of July 21. But Greta Gerwig’s Barbie ended up taking the summer slot. After no update on its premiere or even a trailer, The Hollywood Reporter learned the studio would can the entire...

Warner Bros. has shelved 'Coyote vs. Acme'.The studio has decided not to release the live-action/animated hybrid film based on the Looney Tunes characters that had been set to star John Cena, Will Forte and Lana Condor. The film was due to follow Wile E. Coyote, who after Acme products fail him constantly in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a lawyer to sue the corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer against the Acme company's intimidating former boss (Cena), but a growing friendship between man and cartoon stokes the pair's determination to win.The project – based on the 1990 New Yorker magazine article 'Coyote vs. Acme' by Ian Frazier - had completed principal photography in New Mexico last year but the decision to abandon the release comes after veteran executive Bill Damaschke took charge of the Warner Animation Group earlier this year.

The financial axe of Warner Bros. has fallen on another film. Following in the shelved footsteps of Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt last year, the studio has decided to put another film — this one finished and ready to release — into its vault. The latest victim of the baffling, if monetarily lucrative procedure is Coyote Vs. Acme, which stars John Cena.

“Coyote vs. Acme,” a live-action movie that stars John Cena, Will Forte and Lana Condor, has been shelved by Warner Bros. a year after it was completed.
This follows Warner Bros. similarly shelving nearly completed features “Batgirl” and “Scoob’s Haunted Holiday.”
“With the re-launch of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation in June, the studio has shifted its global strategy to focus on theatrical releases. With this new direction, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with ‘Coyote vs Acme.’ We have tremendous respect for the filmmakers, casts, and crew, and are grateful for their contributions to the film,” a Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group spokesperson said.
The movie was an adaptation of a 1990 short story by Ian Frazier that first appeared in the New Yorker. Development on the project began back in 2018, with Chris McKay attached as a producer. Shortly afterward, Dave Green, director of “Earth to Echo...

In another maneuver by the David Zaslav-run Warner Bros Discovery to kill movies, we hear on very good authority that Warner Bros will not be releasing the hybrid live-action/animated Coyote vs. Acme, with the conglom taking an estimated $30M write-down on the $70M production. We understand the write-down for the pic was applied to the recently reported Q3.
This reps the third time that Zaslav’s Warner Bros has pulled the plug on a movie greenlighted by the previous Warner Media administration, the other two being the Max-destined Batgirl and the animated Scoob Holiday Haunt!
The difference here is that Coyote vs. Acme is a completed movie with very good test scores, 14 points above the family norm. We’re told that the cash-strapped Warners finds that it’s not worth the cost to release the film theatrically or to sell to other buyers (and there are parties who...

A little over a year after the shelving of Batgirl sent shockwaves throughout Hollywood, Warner Bros. is putting another of its films in the studio vault.
Warners no longer plans to release Coyote vs. Acme, a live-action, CG animation hybrid that completed principal photography last year in New Mexico. The move follows veteran animation executive Bill Damaschke taking over Warner Animation Group earlier this year.
“For three years, I was lucky enough to make a movie about Wile E. Coyote, the most persistent, passionate, and resilient character of al time,” filmmaker Dave Green wrote on X after this story initially published. “I was surrounded by a brilliant team, who poured their souls into this project. … Along the ride, we were embraced by test audiences who rewarded us with fantastic scores.”
The feature, which sources believe cost around $72 million to make, had key Warners talent involved in front of the camera and behind the scenes.

Tony Stark may be gone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but soon you'll be able to revisit him in a new "Iron Man" game from Electronic Arts and Motive Studio. Though the game wasn't revealed until after the recent Marvel Games showcase (via ComicBook.com), the company made a joint announcement about it with EA.
It sounds like we're really going to be able to get into the story since this is a single-player, third-person action-adventure game that "taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it's like to truly play as Iron Man."
Considering that this character can fly, blast things from his hands, and is a genius with a great backstory, it could be a nice combination of story and battle. It will be a while until we see this Iron Man game,...

Sometimes there are things that you know you like, but you realize you’ve never really dug into.
Brian Gordon’s comics strip Fowl Language is like that for me: I realized I’ve been seeing it randomly probably since it started, but never actually tried to read it. So I did.
I grabbed this book, Fowl Language: Welcome to Parenting , since it seemed to be the earliest of the three published so far. (Further exploration shows that to be true.) It collects about a hundred of those strips, which break down almost evenly into single panels (many of which would make great posters or response memes; Gordon is good at the crisp specific saying) and four-panel strips.
Gordon, as I understand it, sometimes cartoons about other things, but most of Fowl Language is about his kids. In the strips collected here – from the 2013-2016 time period – there were two of them,...
