Netflix has revealed that its Japanese slate for the year ahead includes three films and a seven new and returning series.
The features include Drawing Closer by Takahiro Miki, a director well-known for romantic dramas such as Love Me, Love Me Not and Your Eyes Tell. It follows a young man with a terminal illness who falls for a woman who is also living on borrowed time. The cast is led by Ren Nagase and Natsuki Deguchi.

Kiyoyoshi Kuga (Ren Nagase) attends law school, aiming to work in the legal field as a lawyer. His childhood friend Mirei Orimoto (Hana Sugisaki) also attends the same school. One day, a leaflet making accusations about the past of Kiyoyoshi and Mirei is distributed by an anonymous person. Soon, unpleasant cases take place around them. Kiyoyoshi talks to Kaoru Yuki (Takumi Kitamura), who is an extremely smart classmate and is in charge of the mock trials. “Yowamushi Pedal” is a very popular manga series by Wataru Watanabe, first published February 21, 2008 in weekly manga magazine Weekly Shonen Champion. Following the success of the manga, 4 seasons of anime television series adaptation aired from October 2013 to June 2018 and a live-action television drama adaptation aired in August 2016.
