"We haven't sailed together for very long, but I know we've got each other's backs." Netflix has revealed a first look teaser for their new live-action adaptation of One Piece, an incredibly popular anime series of the same name. Following up their adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, which turned out to be a failure and not many even watched it despite the hype. The seafaring story follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who can turn rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit. With his crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy explores the Grand Line in search of the world's ultimate treasure known as "One Piece" in order to become the next Pirate King. The manga by Eiichirô Oda was turned into an anime series, originally in 1999, with a total of 20 seasons available so far. This version stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro,...

The story takes place on an island where Uta, the world’s favorite diva, performs for the first time in public. Uta’s voice, with which she sings while concealing her true identity, has been described as “otherworldly”, and while the venue is filled with the Straw Hats led by Luffy, pirates, navy, and fans from all over the world who have come to enjoy her voice, Uta is heard in a new light. The curtain rises on the story with the shocking revelation that she is “Shanks’ daughter”!
In the teaser trailer, the young Uta and Shanks stand shoulder to shoulder in the background, and Shanks says, “Uta, though we’re apart, you’ll always be my daughter.” The trailer depicts a young Uta shedding tears, her growth and appearance on a live stage as a diva loved around the world, and Luffy’s rage at Uta’s name,...

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has become one of the most popular anime and manga series of all time. The series has been running for over two decades and accumulated a staggering amount of episodes that puts it nearly at the 1000-episode mark. One Piece joyfully indulges in many of the aspects that make action shounen anime series so addictive and fun.
Despite the series’ influence on the rest of anime, it’s hard to maintain consistent quality after so much time. The One Piece anime is notorious for exhaustive spans of “filler,” and the vast amount of content can easily intimidate some from ever checking out the series. Funimation recently announced that their dub of One Piece has resumed and so there’s never been a better time to jump into the series. It’s been a difficult road for fans of the One Piece dub. The series’ release schedule is often sporadic with lengthy gaps in between arcs and fans are always left with some level of doubt that the newest batch of episodes could be the last and that a dub is not longer worth doing. Despite these ups and downs, it’s been an exciting few months for One Piece fans and the news of even more dubbed episodes shows that this trend isn’t changing.
Funimation released the start of the series’ Punk Hazard Arc on June 2, which included episodes 575-587. Additionally, Funimation also made the dub of the latest One Piece film, One Piece: Stampede, available to stream for free. These efforts have gone a long way with the community and given fans a little more hope for the series’ future. At FunimationCon 2020—Funimation’s first “virtual convention...

Earlier this month, Netflix added the first hundred or so episodes of the hugely popular anime One Piece to its library. Not only does this acquisition mark one of the first times the Japanese series has become available on a major streaming platform, but it’s also an appetizer for the company’s upcoming live-action adaptation.
Such an adaptation has been rumored to happen for years, and for good reason. Given the series’ immense popularity in the east – a market which is becoming increasingly attractive to American studio execs – it was only a matter of time before the intellectual property would be bought for development.
At the beginning of this year, a prominent Netflix leaker announced that the live-action adaptation was officially in the works. A few months later, the internet learned from a producer, speaking to reporters from Syfy, that shooting was going to take place this summer, but...

Netflix is undertaking some very ambitious projects in the future. Not only is it currently producing a live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s classic animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, but – over the course of just a few months – it’s also become evident that the streamer is planning to adapt the insanely popular Japanese anime One Piece into a live-action TV show, too.
For those of you who are not familiar with the source material, One Piece tells the story of Luffy, a dim-witted yet persistent boy who has but one dream in life: to become the strongest, most-feared pirate on the face of the earth. This is a quite the goal, too, because Luffy’s world knows hundreds of pirates, each of whom is endowed with special, supernatural powers.

Yesterday, Netflix added the first hundred and thirty episode of the anime One Piece to its library, and fans couldn’t be happier. One of the most popular media franchises in the entire world, the show is hard to come by if you live in America or Europe. In the past, most western fans of the series have relied on sketchy websites for access. Now, however, they’re thanking the streamer for making their lives a little easier.

Netflix can always be relied upon for a large and varied quantity of anime to choose from, and several new titles have just been made available on the streaming service.
Based on a series of children’s novels, Okko’s Inn follows the eponymous young girl whose parents are killed in a car accident and is sent to live with her grandmother who runs a traditional Japanese inn. Soon after her arrival she begins seeing ghosts who encourage her in her work, and she starts to take enjoyment in making other people happy.
Elsewhere, One Piece is a ludicrously long-running series set in a world whose oceans are ruled by pirates. You can now stream the popular anime Dragon Ball Z on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Hulu, and Amazon, but not Netflix. However, that may change – at least, according to the folks over at ComicBook.com.
The outlet seems convinced that the infamous Japanese animated series will be coming to the streaming service sooner rather than later. Their rationale? The (supposed) fact that Netflix is releasing the first two arcs of One Piece, another widely-known anime made by the same studio as Dragon Ball, this summer.
If true, this would be great news, not only for anime fans, but all viewers in general. One of the highest-grossing media franchises in the history of civilization, One Piece currently counts over 800 episodes which together tell the emotionally taxing and delightfully imaginative tale of Luffy, a young boy on a quest to become the most feared in the world.

As with most musou games based on anime, I don’t know much about the source material, but I absolutely love smacking around hordes of enemies using a colorful assortment of different characters and weapons. And that’s why I’m absolutely head-over-heels in love with One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4. In terms of genre execution, few can match the excitement and enjoyment I experienced in both the admittedly confusing story mode and the so-called “treasure log” campaign. And while I still couldn’t care less about Monkey D. Luffy and his merry band of misfits, I’m rather bummed that I’m sitting here writing about Pirate Warriors 4 instead of, you know, actually playing Pirate Warriors 4. Even with the astronomical number of high-profile releases currently on the horizon across all consoles in the coming months, I have a feeling that the latest One Piece offering will consume a huge chunk of my time.

After more than 900 episodes and over a dozen feature films, it can be difficult to generate content that doesn’t simply repeat the past. The One Piece series has seen and done a lot at this point, yet despite its hefty history, the series' newest film, One Piece: Stampede, is a satisfying effort that takes the franchise to exciting places.
Stampede is the 14th film in the franchise and is directed by series newcomer Takashi Otsuka. Beyond just commemorating the anime’s 20th anniversary, he’s with also crafting a film that actively takes place outside of the One Piece canon. The choice to isolate the story makes it both more accessible and a pretense to tell a pirate version of It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad World.

Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Death Note — one would think that a game that brings all these franchises together would have the same quality and level of polish of these beloved Shonen Jump franchises. Alas, Jump Force falters at almost every opportunity to deliver the quality experience that its fans were surely hoping for.
The premise is about as off-the-wall as you’d expect — various universes from Shonen Jump have collided with our world, and humanity has thus become invaded by a number of entities known as venoms. Unfortunately, these are nowhere near as cool as Marvel’s Venom, but it’s up to the heroes of the various franchises to prevent all the worlds from merging into the one.
Kicking off the campaign, Goku and Frieza are in the midst of battle. At one point while Goku is trying to prevent Frieza from destroying New York City, a civilian is caught in the crossfire.
