Frank E. Bressel Jr.
- Actor
Frank Bressel Jr. was fortunate to have worked with Marie Stoddard, the leading dramatic and voice coach in Hollywood. Ms. Stoddard had worked with the likes of James Dean, Mario Lanza, Terry Moor, and many of the leading stars and notables of cinema, radio and stage. Frank's studies with Ms. Stoddard included "voice mechanics," which is a system of forming your words on your palate, rather than with your lips, and diaphragm breathing. In doing so, this led to power, projection, and quality of one's voice, as well as extending the range of one's voice--higher or lower in range.
Frank very much enjoyed working with Marie. She shared stories with him about others she worked with. One thing that was disturbing to her was, that so many of the young people that were sent to work with her were smokers, and it was so hard to help them, because their ability to use their breath was so poor because of their smoking.
Frank utilized this training in voice mechanics, noting that, "if one understands and practices it, it's great!" The precepts and training can be used in speaking, singing, voice animation, ventriloquism, and etc. it's a system Frank knows quite well and utilized in his work.
Frank is married to Joanna (Lohr) Bressel, who was a professional dancer and licensed physical therapist; and has five children: Athena Bressel-Garrett, a professional dancer and Human Resources Manager (married to Robert Garrett (III)); Brian Bressel, Ski Resort GM/CEO; Cary Bressel, Licensed General Building Contractor; Derrick Bressel, Rehabilitation Counselor Supervisor; and Eadric Bressel, Ph.D., Professor of Bio-mechanics.
