Luís Figueiredo(I)

Luís Figueiredo was born in Coimbra in 1979. He studied classical piano
at the Music Conservatory in Coimbra, and then at the University of
Aveiro, where he studied under Vitali Dotsenko, Fausto Neves, António
Chagas Rosa and others. He also studied at the Hot Clube de Portugal
with Filipe Melo, Bernardo Moreira and Bruno Santos. Later, he also
studied with pianist and composer Mário Laginha. He performs and
composes regularly since 2004, working with different projects, such as
the Luís Figueiredo Trio, LADO B, and the ongoing collaboration with
singer Sofia Vitória, besides doing work as sideman on other projects.
He has also occasionally worked in theatre and cinema, both composing
and performing. Luís Figueiredo is also a teacher and researcher in
jazz studies, particularly associated with the Centre for Jazz Studies
at University of Aveiro.
