If you want to stream all of the movies in the “Alien” franchise, you’ll need more than one subscription. The six films, all released theatrically by 20th Century Fox, have ended up on a variety of sites.
You’ll find the first four films in the franchise, including Ridley Scott’s 1979 original space thriller and James Cameron’s action-packed 1986 sequel on Hulu and Starz, but here’s where to catch the rest of the Xenomorphs, face-huggers and, of course, kickass heroine Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver).

Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this “special” episode…
Match #1: Asuka def. Roxanne Perez The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
One of the most iconic Nxt Superstars of all-time, Asuka, returned to the brand to defeat Roxanne Perez in a hotly contested one-on-one match. Perez proved that she belonged by pushing The Empress of Tomorrow to her limit, but Asuka used a devastating spinning kick to pick up the win. After the match, Kiana James arrived and attacked Perez, only for Shotzi to come to her aid and stave off the attack.

Match #1: Viking Rules Match – Ivar def. Kofi Kingston The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The New Day’s Kofi Kingston did his best to bring his Power of Positivity to combat all the carnage and mayhem of a Viking Rules Match, but the Viking Rules specialist Ivar came out on top. With Viking shields, flags, tables and more used in the melee, Kingston launched the Viking Raider through the table after he grabbed his beard. With the match breaking down, Valhalla leaped onto Kingston until Xavier Woods came down to make the save. Despite this, Woods got squished by an Ivar splash onto the barricade. Back in the ring, Ivar intercepted a Trouble in Paradise to send Kingston crashing through the table.

The 80s era was memorable for a lot of things, but especially for the rise of iconic action heroes like Rambo, Dutch, Ripley, Sarah Conner, and John McClane, to name a few, portrayed by legendary actors who forever changed the landscape of the genre. Their screen presence, insistence on the portrayal of physicality in action sequences, and larger-than-life appearance have captivated generations of fans ever since—and led to the franchise boom in the first place. Long before studio-wide superhero crossovers took over Hollywood, it was a dream of every action movie fan to see their favorite stars sharing the screen together, and Sylvester Stallone, an action legend himself, fulfilled the dream by creating The Expendables franchise. The franchise is now three movies strong, and after a prolonged nine-year gap, the fourth part is about to crush theaters worldwide this weekend.

Filming is officially underway on Alien TV series that Fargo TV series creator Noah Hawley has been developing for “FX on Hulu” – with the project having to film around cast members who are on strike with the Screen Actors Guild. We’ve previously heard that the series will star Sydney Chandler of Pistol… but Chandler is in SAG, and therefore isn’t currently on the Alien set in Thailand. Deadline reports that Chandler’s co-stars include Essie Davis (The Babadook), Alex Lawther (The End of the F*cking World), Samuel Blenkin (Black Mirror), and Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger).
Filming began on Wednesday. Deadline has heard there’s a total of three SAG cast members, and “the production has reworked its shooting schedule to delay their participation for as long as possible.” Other main actors are members of the UK acting union Equity, and Equity actors have been told they...

In the new season of the Seventies workplace comedy Minx, Joyce Prigger’s fortunes couldn’t be more on the rise. The titular magazine, which pairs feminist journalism with full frontal male photo spreads, is thriving, turning Joyce into a minor celebrity who hobnobs with Linda Ronstadt, Gloria Steinem, and other icons of the period. When Rolling Stone comes to profile her (in an episode with more than a whiff of Almost Famous), she admits to the reporter that getting everything she wants has only left her fearing that it can all be taken away.

Gunther and Riddle traded submission attempts to start the match, with Gunther applying a sleeper hold followed by a triangle hold attempt by Riddle. Riddle’s early momentum was derailed by a huge chop from The Ring General, followed by a body slam onto the mat outside of the ring. As Gunther beat down Riddle, The Original Bro withstood the punishment, attempting to get the victory after a ripcord knee. Team Experience has been looking at LGBTQ+ related Oscar nominations. Tonight we're serving lewks!
By Christopher James
For a movie with iconic nude scenes, the costumes of The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) are just as memorable and titillating. It’s fitting that the Oscars honored the incredible work of costume designers Ann Roth and Gary Jones for the film, which should’ve shown up in more categories than the five it was nominated for. Though the actual Oscar went to Lindy Hemming’s period-specific and gloriously gaudy work in Topsy-Turvy, we’re still cheering on the sidelines for Ripley.

Gwyneth Paltrow has starred in a roster of hit films from Se7en to Iron Man. But a much lesser known project the veteran actor did was the feature Sky Captain And the World of Tomorrow.
One of her main incentives for starring in the underperforming feature was that Jude Law was in the film as well.

Law and Paltrow’s Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was a bit of a letdown financially. According to The Numbers, the film only made $49 million at the end of its run. But despite its box-office receipts, it received moderate reviews from critics, with the slight majority giving it a favorable rating.

“If I could turn back time…” Cher sang in 1989, coincidentally the same year that the last great Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, came out. Rewinding the clock, both literally and figuratively, is very much on the minds of everyone involved in Indy’s fifth and apparently final adventure, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, as an aging Dr. Jones confronts his mortality, his regrets, and the sum total of his life’s accomplishments.
So it’s somehow appropriate that the MacGuffin which lures Indy out of his pending retirement for one last globe-trotting adventure is a device invented by the ancient Greek mathematician and physicist Archimedes that might somehow alter the course of history. If our hero gets his hands on the device—which, naturally, has been split into three pieces—will he be tempted to tamper with it?

Movie, television, and pop culture buffs have plenty of games that they flock to in order to show their knowledge and skill. Some prefer to play something like “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” where you try to connect two actors through movies that they’ve been in and whoever has the shortest list from point A to point B wins. Others prefer to play the Cinephile: A Card Game, Ripley’s Movie Buff Trivia Card Game, or even the Blockbuster game.

Coming along twenty-three years after the release of the original Chicken Run, the sequel Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget will be released through the Netflix streaming service on December 15th – and even though that date is still six months away, Aardman Animations founder Peter Lord, producer Layla Herbert, and director Sam Fell shared some footage from the film at the Annecy International Film Festival.
As described by Deadline, the footage shown featured the utopian island chicken haven – described by Fell as a sort of “Chicken Wakanda” – created by heroine Ginger after she led the breakout from the Tweedy farm in late 1940s Britain (in the first movie). It’s now the early ’60s and Ginger is the mother with Rocky of rebellious teenager Molly. Carrie (1976)
The first Stephen King adaptation also ranks highly as one of the best. Director Brian De Palma and screenwriter Lawrence D. The Venice Film Festival won’t be unveiling its full 2023 lineup until next month at the earliest, but producers, studios and streamers are already prepping the projects they hope to be premiering on the Lido this year for the festival’s 80th-anniversary edition, which will be running Aug. 30-Sept. 9.
Venice will be expected to bring its A-game, especially after Cannes delivered an impressive 2023 lineup (featuring the likes of Indiana Jones 5, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Todd Haynes’ May December, Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, plus Justine Triet’s Palme d’Or winner Anatomy of a Fall). All eyes will be on long-time artistic director Alberto Barbera, who has earned his spot on the podium of the top-tier festivals by successfully blending the needs of the studio and streamer blockbusters — which look to Venice as a splashy platform to generate buzz ahead of an international rollout — with...

Unlike so many other ill-fated stabs at the anthology format, the second season of Cruel Summer counts on some rather distinct storytelling techniques, including frequent jumps between three different timelines. Each period is separated by mere months yet signifies a huge shift in the lives of its protagonists—often with the help of unmistakable fashion makeovers and ostentatious color filters. The result is another kitschy season of the Bert V. Royal series that’s nevertheless rewarding for its ambitious, unpredictable thrills.
The show’s first timeline is set in the summer of 1999, with studious 17-year-old Megan Landry (Sadie Stanley) dismayed at her mother Debbie’s (KaDee Strickland) decision to host exchange student Isabella Larue (Lexi Underwood), who was born in the United States but spent most of her life abroad. Match #1: Shinsuke Nakamura def. The Miz The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Competing in his first Raw match since being drafted by the red brand, Shinsuke Nakamura tangled with The Miz. After settling into the match, The Miz took control, blasting Nakamura with a kick on the outside of the ring. After Nakamura tried to lock up the match with the Kinshasa, The Miz slyly evaded the maneuver, poking Nakamura in the eyes while the referee’s back was turned. The A-Lister landed the Skull-Crushing Finale on The King of Strong Style, but Nakamura wisely put his foot on the ropes. Nakamura then followed up with the Kinshasa for the victory.

Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t be back to the “Terminator” franchise.
The iconic actor confirmed that he is “done” with the “Terminator” films after last starring in 2019’s “Terminator: Dark Fate.” Schwarzenegger has appeared in six of the franchise films.
“The franchise is not done. I’m done,” Schwarzenegger told The Hollywood Reporter. “I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to ‘The Terminator.’ Someone has to come up with a great idea.”
He continued, “‘The Terminator’ was largely responsible for my success, so I always would look at it very fondly. The first three movies were great. Number four [‘Salvation’] I was not in because I was governor. Then five [‘Genisys’] and six [‘Dark Fate’] didn’t close the deal as far as I’m concerned. We knew that ahead of time because they were just not well-written.”

The "Alien" universe created by director Ridley Scott and screenwriter Dan O'Bannon in 1979 is finally making the jump to episodic television in FX's long-awaited series from "Fargo" and "Legion" mastermind Noah Hawley. The project has been gestating since December of 2020 when it was first announced at Disney's Investor Day presentation by FX Chairman John Landgraf. Not to be confused with Fede Alvarez's upcoming "Alien" movie that's set to eventually premiere on Hulu, Hawley's "Alien" series will be set decades before the original voyage of the Nostromo and will mark the first time that the sci-fi horror franchise has been set on Earth.
For fans who remember the intentionally misleading teaser trailer for "Alien 3" that promised a return to our home planet, the potential of seeing a Xenomorph on our own home turf should be an exciting prospect. FX's "Alien" will officially be the first live-action television series,...

The works of author Patricia Highsmith have inspired such films as Strangers on a Train, Purple Noon, Enough Rope, The American Friend, Tell Her That I Love Her, The Glass Cell, a couple different versions of Deep Water, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Ripley’s Game, Ripley Under Ground, The Cry of the Owl, The Two Faces of January, Carol, and A Kind of Murder, among others. Her stories have also served as the basis for a lot of television, including an upcoming Showtime mini-series titled Ripley. Now, Deadline reports that Shailene Woodley (The Spectacular Now) has signed on to star in a film about Highsmith’s life – but this biopic is said to “reimagine the author’s life as a horror movie”. The title is The Murderous Miss Highsmith, and Woodley is being joined in the cast by Cara Delevingne (Carnival Row) and Noémie Merlant (Portrait of a Lady on Fire).

It’s 7:30 a.m. on a sunny May morning in Rome on a side street outside the studios of Italian state broadcaster Rai. A live audience standing behind metal fencing is watching a lithe group of nuns, one with a mustache, who slowly creep out from a row of white closet doors.
They start dancing, hugging and pirouetting to a ballad belted out by a young Tuscan pop singer. Then the dancers, dressed in Catholic sisters garb, begin playing basketball.
Welcome to “Viva Rai 2!,” Italy’s answer to America’s morning shows. It’s a local ratings phenomenon conceived and conducted by volcanic Sicilian megastar Rosario Fiorello, who is breathing new life into Italian television at a time when doomsayers are sounding the death knell of public TV around the world.

Match #1: Bianca Belair def. Iyo Sky The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
“The Est of WWE” Bianca Belair proved once again why she is the gold standard in WWE, as she knocked off a very game Iyo Sky to retain her Raw Women’s Title and become the longest-reigning women’s champion of the modern era. Early on, the crowd was firmly behind Sky as the two Superstars showcased their incredible athleticism. Belair was forced to weather the storm from Sky, using her game-changing power to turn the tide in her favor. Sky came into the matchup with a clear gameplan to incapacitate the champion’s upper body, and it worked as Belair’s...

Match #1: The O.C. def. The Viking Raiders The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With Aj Styles looking on, The O.C. took on The Viking Raiders. Due to being drafted to separate brands, the two teams collided in what could be the last time. Karl Anderson took out a new move, putting Ivar down with the “Brother Me Softly”, as coined by Styles. Ivar flew from up high, colliding with Luke Gallows with an awesome top rope splash. Valhalla proved to be a factor in the match, distracting Gallows before Michin took her out. The O.C. then hit the Magic Killer on Ivar to get the “tres” count.

Melissa Gilbert turns 59 today on Monday May 8, 2023. Best known for playing Laura Ingalls in Little House on the Prairie in the ‘70s and early ‘80s, Gilbert’s life looks a lot different these days. She’s hung up her Hollywood heels for a pair of boots she can get dirty in the chicken coop. Her birthday this year fits in perfectly with her new life. “This is heaven,” she said of the day.

A lot of Academy Award winners get weepy, sentimental and downright ugly in their speeches. One such Oscar winner is Gwyneth Paltrow, who gave an over-the-top speech that began humbly enough before it quickly turned into a sobfest that is often cited as one of the cringiest acceptance speeches ever.
On the Call Her Daddy podcast, Gwyneth Paltrow discussed both the origins of her emotions and the backlash she faced after winning Best Actress for Shakespeare in Love. “I cried and people were so mean about it and I just thought, ‘Wow there’s this big energy shift that’s happening. I think I’m going to have to learn to be less openhearted and much more protective of myself and filter people out better.’…I remember I was working in England…and I remember the British press being so horrible to me because I cried. The Alien TV series from Fargo‘s Noah Hawley has taken a big step forward as THR has reported that Sydney Chandler has signed on to star in the project.
Of course, there are no details on who Sydney Chandler will play in the Alien TV series, only that she will be one of the leads. Noah Hawley’s FX series Alien has found one of its leads in Sydney Chandler, the network has confirmed.
Back at January’s TCA, FX boss John Landgraf said that the Fargo creator was in pre-production on Alien with an eye on starting production this year. The series reportedly takes place before the days of Sigourney Weaver’s alien fighter Ripley. It’s the first story that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth, 70 years from current day.
Alien brings Chandler back to work at FX, the actress having made her television debut in the network’s series Pistol from director and executive producer Danny Boyle. That six-episode series, which premieres May 31 exclusively on Hulu, centers around the legendary Sex Pistols. Chandler portrays singer-songwriter Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders.

It remains to be seen how the museum’s Great Hall will be decorated come the first Monday in May, but one thing is not in question: those entering it will look spectacular. The theme centers on the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, who made an indelible mark on luxury fashion in his long career at Chanel, Fendi and elsewhere. It is a theme not without controversy — Lagerfeld was known for contentious remarks about everything from #MeToo to curvy bodies.

When screenwriter and filmmaker Dan O'Bannon wrote the original "Alien," he couldn't have imagined that his own personal experience dealing with Crohn's disease -- which helped inspire the chest-burster Xenomorph -- would go on to spawn six of the most thought-provoking sci-fi horror movies in cinema history. O'Bannon's own fears eventually transferred over to the character of Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), who became terrified of suffering the same horrible fate as Kane (John Hurt) aboard the Nostromo.
Over the course of Ridley Scott's "Alien," James Cameron's "Aliens," and David Fincher's "Alien 3," Ripley's worst fear was finally realized when she dove into a fiery pit, just as a chest-burster struggled to get free from her grasp. Returning as a clone in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's "Alien: Resurrection," Ripley's humanity was then stripped away in favor of a disconnected superhero version of the character that took away everything...

Sigourney Weaver is laying Ripley to rest.
The “Alien” star confirmed that she is looking forward to another “younger” actor taking over the role of Ellen Ripley, which she originated in the 1979 space-set action film. Weaver went on to star in sequels “Aliens,” “Alien 3,” and “Alien Resurrection,” and was set to reprise the role for a 2015 installment helmed by Neill Blomkamp. The fifth “Alien” film would have sidestepped “Alien 3” and seen Ripley partnering with Corporal Dwayne Hicks (Michael Biehn).
“There are all kinds of younger actors taking this kind of role,” Weaver told Total Film (via Games Radar). “And there was an ‘Alien’ that I really wanted to do with Neill Blomkamp and we didn’t get to do that, but, you know, that ship has sailed. I’m very happy doing what I’m doing. I put in my time in space.”

It’s now been 26 years since Sigourney Weaver last played the role of Ellen Ripley in Alien Resurrection (1997), which was of course the fourth time Weaver’s Ripley battled Xenomorphs up on the big screen. Legacy sequels are all the rage for popular franchises at the moment, but will we ever see Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley again? Don’t count on it, she says.
“There are all kinds of younger actors taking this kind of role. And there was an Alien [film] that I really wanted to do with Neill Blomkamp and we didn’t get to do that, but, you know, that ship has sailed,” Weaver tells Total Film this week.
The actress adds, “I’m very happy doing what I’m doing. I put in my time in space!”
The Blomkamp project would’ve been a sequel to James Cameron’s Aliens that would’ve brought back Ellen Ripley.

She’s getting away from her, you bitch! Although Ellen Ripley is undoubtedly her trademark role, Sigourney Weaver will never play the character again, saying the Nostromo has sailed on that one.
Speaking with Total Film, the 73-year-old Sigourney Weaver confirmed she has officially hung up the ol’ pulse rifle as Ripley, giving her blessing to others. “There are all kinds of younger actors taking this kind of role.
