Channel 5 has been found in breach by Ofcom following the altercation between Hazel O'Sullivan and Daley Ojuederie during last summer's series of Big Brother.
Daley was removed from the house last year because of "threatening and aggressive" behaviour towards Hazel while they were alone in the Luxury House.
Ofcom has now ruled that Channel 5 was in breach for its handling of the incident, which received a total of 165 complaints from viewers.
During the investigation, Channel 5 pointed out that Big Brother is known "to raise adult themes and deal with controversial and difficult situations and confrontations between persons who may have extreme personalities".
The broadcaster also claimed that the participants are "consenting adults" who expect challenging situations, adding: "The audience would be disappointed if such situations did not arise."
Pointing out that the complaints received were a small percentage of the overall viewership, Channel 5 added that similar scenarios are often seen...

Big Brother housemate Hazel O'Sullivan has told Digital Spy that she has no intention of speaking to Daley Ojuederie after he 'ripped her to shreds' in the wake of his ejection for "aggressive and unacceptable" behaviour.
Ojuederie was removed from the house in the fifth week of Big Brother's latest series after slapping O'Sullivan on the backside, clasping her around her neck and pinning her to the bed by both arms.
The 28-year-old proceeded to give numerous interviews with the media, during which he branded O'Sullivan "evil" and accused her of making "devious" comments about the incident that contributed to Big Brother's decision to eject him.
Speaking to DS at the 'Rock Your Jeans' party for Jeans for Genes last night (September 3), O'Sullivan explained that she was upset the boxer "didn't have the respect to hold his tongue" and 'milked' the ordeal for coverage.

Hazel O'Sullivan has become the latest contestant evicted from the Big Brother house.
The 24-year-old model from Dublin exited as a housemate this evening to a largely booing crowd.
Presenter Emma Willis interviewed O'Sullivan on her exit, and their conversation mainly focussed on her dalliance with fellow housemate Daley Ojuederie.
O'Sullivan defended herself against claims from Willis that she should not have flirted so enthusiastically with Ojuederie with the knowledge that he had a girlfriend outside of the house.
However, she stated that she received "mixed signals" from him, and that as a woman, "when you're stuck in a house and there's nothing else to do, naturally relationships develop".
But O'Sullivan also admitted to Willis that she regretted getting as close to the former housemate as she did.
Asked if she fancied Ojuederie the first time she saw him, she replied: "When I saw him coming down the stairs for the first time,...

Big Brother host Emma Willis has admitted her embarrassment at the 'Channel 4' gaffe that caused waves during only her second night of fronting the show.
The 37-year-old drew murmurs from the launch night audience after almost making reference to the Channel 5 programme's former home when she seemed about to promote 'tomorrow night's Big Brother on Channel 4'.
Speaking to Digital Spy at last night's (July 22) British Airways Silent Picturehouse event, Willis said: "What was going through my head was all of a sudden I was hosting my favourite show in the whole world and for years I've listened to people going, 'Go to Channel4.com/BigBrother'.
"You do occasionally have moments when you're like, 'I'm on television, there's probably a million or so people watching and a whole audience here listening to what I'm saying'. You go 'Oh my God', and automatically you go 'Channel fff.

"The smacking and the language was aggressive, not playful and no-one deserves to be spoken to like that. Big Brother did the right thing in kicking him out and for him to say he was not being serious is even worse - as if physical behaviour like that is funny."
Speculating on how the incident came about, Childs said: "Not that this is an excuse but.

Big Brother contestant Daley Ojuederie spoke out about fellow housemate Hazel O'Sullivan after he was kicked out of the Big Brother house for "aggressive behaviour" yesterday.

The housemates seemed to have forgotten that nominations were due to take place yesterday (July 14), the Channel 5 website states.
Voting will commence tomorrow, with the evicted housemate stepping out on Friday (July 19).
Daley Ojuederie was removed by producers yesterday following "threatening and aggressive behaviour" towards Hazel O'Sullivan in the Safe House.
A planned live nominations twist was dropped following Ojuederie's ejection from the competition, while O'Sullivan was immune from nomination this week as she remains in the Safe House.

Big Brother contestant Daley Ojuederie has been removed by producers following "threatening and aggressive behaviour" towards Hazel O'Sullivan.
The 28-year-old slapped on-show love interest Hazel on the backside, clasped her around her neck and pinned her to the bed by both arms as they stayed together in the Safe House.
A spokesperson confirmed to Digital Spy: "Due to threatening and aggressive behaviour towards Hazel O'Sullivan we have taken the decision to remove Daley Ojuederie from the Big Brother House."
Big Brother also revealed that Daley told Hazel: "Do you want me to go f**king mad now? Do you remember when I said, yeah, when I go mad it's f**king scary... doesn't mean I'm gonna hit you but it's scary s**t."
When Hazel told him to "go for it", he continued: "Have some respect for your f**king elders, yeah do you understand me… 'cos if you don't…...

Big Brother's Hazel O'Sullivan and Daley Ojuederie have got cosy with each other since heading into the Safe House.
The pair are immune from this week's nominations after they topped the public vote to go into the luxury house.
Hazel and Daley have caused controversy after they continued to flirt with each other, despite Daley having a girlfriend outside the house.
After being voted into the house, Hazel admitted to Big Brother that it will be a "challenge" to avoid getting close to Daley.
She said: "Me and Daley thought I was going; we are now back in a funny position again, trying to be friends in the house, so it would be difficult when there is no-one to interrupt.
"I don't trust myself a lot of the time, I don't have any commitment on my side; his thing is up in the air. It would be nice to...

Big Brother's Hazel O'Sullivan and Daley Ojuederie have been voted into the Safe House.
The pair will now be immune from this week's nominations and are assured of another week in the house after they topped the public vote.
Host Emma Willis announced at the end of last night's (July 12) eviction show - which saw Wolfy Millington become the third housemate to leave the compound - that the housemates had been split into pairs for the public vote.
Big Brother revealed the news to the house earlier today that Hazel and Daley would be moving to the luxury area of the house.
On hearing the news, Hazel admitted that she found the decision "awkward", while other housemates said that they had expected the duo to move to the Safe House.
Additionally, they will have every request catered for by their fellow housemates with the introduction of the Safe House Request Hotline.

Gina yelled: ''You're a glorified w***e!'' Dexter called Hazel the ''wicked witch of the west'', adding: ''You're a honey trap, the house's honey trap. Wolfy Millington, Hazel O'Sullivan, Jackie Travers and Callum Knell go head-to-head in this week's Big Brother eviction.
But which one of the foursome do you want to see sent packing?
Wolfy picked up eight nominations from her fellow housemates, Callum got five nominations, while Hazel only picked up two.
Jackie was chosen to join them in the four-way vote by 'Safe House' duo Dexter Koh and Gina Rio.
Hazel is the favourite for the chop with bookmakers (8/11), just ahead of Wolfy. Jackie (33/1) and Callum (40/1) look to be safe with long odds on them becoming the third housemate evicted.
Glamour model Hazel's chances of survival have been badly damaged this week by her relationship with Daley Ojuederie.
The couple's flirting has been frowned upon by many viewers and fellow housemates and Daley's girlfriend Katie made an emotional appearance on spinoff show Bit on the Side this week, crying over her boyfriend's actions.

Big Brother's Jemima Slade said she was surprised at the level of booing she received on exiting the house tonight (June 28).
The 41-year-old was beaten in the public vote by Dexter Koh, becoming the second to leave the current series after Sallie Axl last week.
Asked by Emma Willis if she had expected the hostile response she received from the crowd, Jemima admitted: "I didn't think I would get that many boos."
She went on to insist that the other housemates had expected her to stay, including her opponent Dexter: "He really thought he was going tonight. Everybody did... Most of them wanted me to stay as well."
Discussing the reasons for her being nominated, she suggested that "some people found... [her] a bit controlling".
"The days are so, so long," she continued, explaining that it was "so intense" in the house and that "you can't fart without no-one knowing...
