Omar Gregorio Parada was a Uruguayan filmmaker. He wrote and directed
five short films in 16 mm. (documentary and fiction). Parada's work is
representative of Uruguayan cinema during the period 1950-1970.
"Miguelete: cara y cruz de un arroyo" is considered one of the first
documentary about contaminated water in Uruguay. "Tal vez mañana", a
science fiction film, was awarded as the best film of Uruguay in 1966.
"Montevideo hoy", a documentary film about the political and social
reality of Uruguay, was abducted by the military dictatorship
(1973-1985) and is now lost.
