Corey Hammett was born in La Grange, Georgia, in 1992 to single mother Amanda Hammett. Growing up in La Grange, Corey won his first award for writing at the age of 5 and continued his artistic endeavors into High School winning the Georgia State High School Art Competition twice. In 2013, after befriending filmmakers in Georgia, Corey wrote and directed "Red River Ode," which was put together in just two weeks, and was submitted to the Louisiana Film Prize in Shreveport where it earned the Official Selection, Top 5, and Founder's Circle awards. In 2014, he wrote and directed the silent film "The Ninth," that also made the Official Selection at the Louisiana Film Prize. As of 2015 Corey has moved from La Grange to Shreveport, Louisiana to continue his filmmaking career.
