Matt Harvey’s no longer a kid. He’s no longer this flame throwing phenom that’s untouchable. He’s now 28-years-old, mired in what appears to be a downward spiral that has little chance of repairing itself. And it’s hit what should hopefully be rock bottom with Harvey’s latest actions: a grievance against his employer, the New York Mets. These two have never gotten along, never will, and the Mets clearly should have parted ways with Harvey when they had the chance. But then Harvey would throw a great game and show New York how great he was, and that skill set kept

Daniel Wu’s AMC show “Into the Badlands” is seen by many as stiff competition for Marvel’s “Iron Fist,” but Wu recently came to defend the producers of the show, who’ve taken some serious heat for the decision to cast a white actor in the lead role of martial arts hero Danny Rand.

Many fans of the original comic book “Iron Fist” had lobbied Marvel to cast an Asian or Asian-American actor in the role, which would have marked the first Asian-American superhero to appear onscreen. “Game of Thrones” actor Finn Jones plays Rand in the series.
In a recent interview with Screen Anarchy, Wu said he feels bad for the makers of “Iron Fist,” and that accusing them of whitewashing is going a little too far.

We’re still waiting on Space Jam 2, but ’90s nostalgia is alive and well with a basketball star of today in Space Jam 3. The short film by YouTuber Ryan Higa hit the web today, and it features Brooklyn Nets player Jeremy Lin getting transported into the world of anime characters. He soon finds himself having to shoot hoops alongside Naruto and Sailor Moon. There’s plenty of homages to the 1996 classic here, including Michael’s Secret Stuff — but Jeremy’s Secret Stuff, it turns out, is what the NBA player uses on his oft-wild hair. Lin’s hair is exactly part of what makes him a good fit for an anime Toon Squad — one of his ’dos once got plenty of comparisons to Goran of Dragon Ball Z. Check out Space Jam 3 below: Meanwhile, the latest on Space Jam 2 is that another Lin — Justin Lin, of Star Trek Beyond...

A couple of months ago, as I prepared to tape a radio appearance, the host and I discussed potential topics, and I noted that Starz's basketball comedy "Survivor's Remorse" would have its second season premiere that weekend, and I liked the show a lot. "I have honestly never heard of that show before," she told me. And this wasn't someone with a general interest show just doing a segment on television; this was someone who hosts an entire show about television. I know, I know: Peak TV in America, Starz has always had trouble getting traction with its comedies (Rip, "Party Down"), the title gets across the basic theme of the show (Jessie T. Usher's Cam Calloway feels guilt over making it out of a tough Boston neighborhood to become a pro hoops star) while never conveying what the show is actually about (or that it's a comedy), the...

One year after its launch, the Whistle Sports network has established itself as the most prominent multi-channel network (McN) dedicated to sports videos. It has also emerged as a hot target for venture capitalists looking to invest in the online video space. Whistle Sports has announced $28 million in Series B funding, including a new investment led by Emil Capital Partners.
The $28 million sum includes the $7 million Sky Sports invested in Whistle Sports back in October 2014. In addition to the UK-based broadcaster, the current round includes funding from Liberty Global Media, an international cable company. Both of those investors underscore Whistle Sports' desire to expand internationally; it recently opened up an office in London.
Other investors joining in the round include pro athletes, including the recently-retired Derek Jeter and the recently-booted-from-the-nfl-playoffs Peyton Manning. Both Jeter and Manning are previous investors in Whistle Sports, which has shown an interest in partnering with pro athletes.
