Mutilator 2, writer/director Buddy Cooper’s long-awaited follow-up to his 1984 slasher The Mutilator (pick up a copy Here), is ready to make its way out into the world. The movie even screened at Joe Bob Briggs’ latest drive-in Jamboree event back in October, and received an “audience favorite” award there. And yet it still hasn’t secured a distribution deal. Cooper confirmed this on Facebook, where he wrote, “We are still searching for distribution. It might help if a few fans asked their favorite streaming service or theater when they would be showing Mutilator 2. If enough people show an interest, I feel like a distributor would be willing to help get it out to everyone.“
The fact that Shudder hasn’t swooped in to release this as a Shudder Original is shocking, given that they’ve not only had The Mutilator on their streaming service, but even had...

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
Two entries ago, we discussed Thomas J. Churchill’s vampire-themed, title card only “franchise” entry, The Amityville Harvest. I knew that the writer/director had a sequel film, so going into The Amityville Moon was an interesting exercise.
As it turns out, sequel is a generous term for Churchill’s second Amityville film. It shares the same visual aesthetic as Harvest, an actor (Michael Cervantes), and may even be shot in the same location. Aside from that, however, the characters are all new and, in place of a vampire, The Amityville Moon features a werewolf as its central protagonist.
One thing that hasn’t changed: this is another in a long line of Amityville films that uses the famous title as an IP cash grab.

Cody Renee Cameron is no stranger to horror, having starred in multiple Full Moon movies, including the most recent release, The Twelve Slays of Christmas. She is also set to star in the upcoming sequel to the cult classic, The Mutilator. In our latest Q&A, Cody discusses her experience on Full Moon sets, her favorite horror movies, and what's next for her.
You recently starred in The Twelve Slays of Christmas. Can you talk about your experience on-set filming this Christmas horror throwback?
Sure! Working on "The Twelve Slays of Christmas" was awesome because I got to work with two of my best friends, Dare Taylor and Lauren Ann Smith. We filmed in a giant mansion in Cleveland, complete with fake snow outside! The scary prosthetics we wore were super fun, and I still have my teeth that I stick in occasionally to scare my roommate, haha.

Fangoria has unveiled the trailer for Mutilator 2, writer/director Buddy Cooper’s long-awaited follow-up to his 1984 slasher The Mutilator (pick up a copy Here), and you can check it out in the embed above! It was previously announced that The Mutilator cast members Ruth Martinez and Bill Hitchcock would be returning for Mutilator 2, despite the fact that Hitchcock’s character died in the first movie, and now the trailer has revealed how that’s possible: this sequel is taking a meta approach! Much like New Nightmare or the Town That Dreaded Sundown update, Mutilator 2 is set in a world where the first film was just a movie. But now someone is bringing the slashing of The Mutilator to life.
The original The Mutilator (a.k.a. Fall Break) had the following synopsis:
Years after the accidental death of his wife, a deranged man starts to slice and dice his son...

Thirty-eight years after gifting the world a really cool slasher called The Mutilator (pick up a copy Here), writer/director Buddy Cooper has finally gotten around to making a sequel to the film… and over the weekend, he took to social media to unveil the first official poster for Mutilator 2! You can take a look at the poster at the bottom of this article.
Cooper notes that “the woman bound to the nasty looking piling” on the Mutilator 2 poster is Olivia, played by Eva Hamilton of Death Kiss. Producer Jeff Seemann added that “the ocean water was in the 40s when Eva stepped into it for this scene.” So it definitely sounds like it’s a moment worth promoting on the poster.

"I know I can help you, Lexi, the question is: are you prepared to take the next step?" Full Moon Features has revealed a trailer for their latest utterly ridiculous B-movie creation called Piranha Women, made by B-movie veteran director Fred Olen Ray. The pitch: "Terror rides on high tides in this sexy and outrageous tale of science run amok that's even madder than Moreau." This is a dumb mash-up of all kinds of horror concepts: instead of vampire women, a doctor injects the ladies with piranha DNA? blood? fluids? and turns them into fish people... That love to eat men. "Piranha Women is like a Lifetime thriller... with teeth! And with boobs with teeth! Yow!" You know what to expect. It's actually a "two-part exploitation epic" with the first part being released this month. Starring Sof Puchley, Keep Chambers, Cody Renee Cameron, Nathaniel Moore, and Carrie Overgaard. The premise of #Captured is simple – hilariously voiced zealot (think Phil from Modern Family turning it up to 11) becomes slasher to punish the wicked doings of the cool, sexy kids – plus their chubby, older friend – who are streaming their under-age sex and drugs parties on the internet. For shame! At the same time a girl new to the school finds herself dragged into the dirty bathwater of seedy online sex cams and slasher nonsense.

While Paul's second Big Brother HoH reign was ultimately a wasted week a deal was nearly struck to prevent that fact. Paul told Jessica that if she allowed the house to vote out Cody, she could keep her Halting Hex for another week. Jessica almost took the deal too until she concluded that the other side of the house was too untrustworthy and it was better to stick with her one ally, Cody.
Jessica, however, has been known to act emotionally, not rashly, in Big Brother 19. Since the decision was sparked by another big fight in the house, it might seem like this move is another big emotional mistake by Jessica.

It's been a tense and interesting week on Big Brother 19. Paul nominated Cody and Jessica, only to discover that her Temptation can cancel the eviction and render his HoH meaningless. Paul implemented a plan to try and salvage the week by convincing Jessica not to use the Hex and let Cody be evicted, but is it successful?...

When Paul nominated Cody and Jessica this week on Big Brother 19, it seemed inevitable that the Halting Hex would be used, the eviction would be cancelled and nothing that happens this week would matter. But that doesn't mean nothing happens. This episode has fights, more fight and a whole lot of relationship drama. There's also a new plan from Paul to try and convince Jessica not to use the Hex. Good luck with that.

It looks like this week of Big Brother 19 will be a dud with Jessica most likely using the Halting Hex to save herself and Cody, so now all eyes are on the next HoH competition. On Wednesday night they were given a practice apparatus in the backyard, giving everyone a good idea what the next competition will be.

Jessica was having her best week since entering the Big Brother 19 house until she bungled it all and cost Ramses his game.
After already winning the Halting Hex, Jessica got her boyfriend Cody back, won Hoh and the Power of Veto. And yet, even while holding all the power, Jessica was unable to get

A few years ago, filmmaker Jason Reitman could do no wrong. The man who made an impressive debut with Thank You For Smoking had followed it up with the Academy Award winning Juno and then the phenomenal Up in the Air, which for a brief moment was the Oscar frontrunner in Best Picture. Since then, Reitman’s movies have gotten a more mixed reception, between Young Adult, Labor Day, and the deeply divisive Men, Women, and Children. His films remain something to look forward to though, and his next one has found a home. Focus Features has announced that they’ve picked it up and will be putting it out next April. We’re less than a year out now from a new Reitman work. Fans should rejoice about that. His new movie is Tully, another collaboration with screenwriter Diablo Cody. Not a whole lot is known about it right now,...

Note: The below interview contains plot spoilers for The Neon Demon. The Neon Demon is a hugely divisive film that for me was never less than a fascinating watch. Love him or loathe him, Nicholas Winding Refn takes things to extremes that most other filmmakers wouldn’t dare; in Neon Demon specifically, the late-second and third acts are full of moments both shocking in their audacity and striking in how they manage to lure us in even as they repel us. Chief among these is a scene involving Jena Malone’s makeup artist Ruby and a blond female cadaver that gets very uncomfortable very fast. The more obvious, and equally valid, approach here would be to reach out to Refn and/or Malone to discuss the mechanics of an incredibly disturbing, button-pushing scene, and yet -- as someone perpetually fascinated by those who occupy the lower rungs on the Hollywood...

There’s something about Marauders that prevents this familiarly-generic crime thriller from becoming a grungy haze of bullets and backstabbing – Christopher Meloni. The long-time Law & Order: Svu star/two-time “crazy cook talking to a can of vegetables” does what he does best: broods, confronts and conjures vein-popping intensity like pulling a rabbit from a thug’s beanie.
Director Steven C. Miller charters familiar action-centric territory with atmospheric ease, while writers Chris Sivertson and Michael Cody draw up an inside-the-box thriller that might have tanked without Meloni leading the charge. You won’t be blown away by this VOD-bound mystery, but fans of good-cop-bad-cop suspense will enjoy tagging along with this serviceable squad of hometown “heroes.”
That, or you’ll chuckle at how “human golem” Dave Bautista looks like he’s about to bust out of every cheap FBI jumper.

Do you ever watch a movie filled with talented people in front of and behind the camera and try to will it to be betterc By simply focusing your thought energy to the screen, you could somehow manipulate what is happening in the film. The pieces of a good movie are there, but they need to be realigned in a slightly different way to rise up from mediocrity. Such was my experience watching Ricki and the Flash. Instead of getting what could have been a thorough drama about an absentee mother being forced back into her children's lives, we get an easy, rather routine crowdpleaser, complete with all problems being healed by dancing to Bruce Springsteen. And it's not like director Jonathan Demme and writer Diablo Cody do not know how to make things tough for their characters. Just look at Cody's criminally underrated script for Young Adult or most of Demme's filmography.

The man in the gray isn't his team's designated 3-point shooter ... it's Peyton Manning ... who took some time away from the gridiron for some hoops action with his Broncos teammates at Duke University. Manning is currently hosting a passing camp at Duke -- but in between sessions, #18 got together with teammates (including wide receivers Cody Latimer, Emmanuel Sanders and defensive end Kenny Anunike) for a pick up game. The pic comes just a couple days...

Update: My full recap is live! After 97 days, a million alliances, and that moment when you realized that Victoria was going to make it to the Final Three, the 16th season of Big Brother has reached its senses-shattering conclusion. Since everyone from the Jury to Julie Chen to the narrator seemed to realize that Victoria wouldn’t triumph, it all came down to the Hitmen. Would the winner be Derrick, the puppet master who never went on the block? Or Cody, the Travolta-lookalike who functioned as Derrick’s sidekick/ally/blunt instrument?
Well, the winner has been crowned…
…and the winner is…...

This is the Entertainment Geekly Mailbag, where I respond to comments, questions, and angry clarifications. (You can email me at darren_franich@ew.com.) This week: Everyone takes issue with my brutally accurate assertion that Kirby is one of the worst players in Super Smash Brothers.
You sir are right on all accounts except one: Kirby. Is. Awesome. And is my go-to character in Smash Bros. If you’d like me to demonstrate why he should be ranked higher on your character list, Ill happily play a round with you ;)

I have a curious habit, maybe you have it too, if you are a real movie geek, film fan, cinema addict, what have you.
A certain number of movies that I have seen and loved with all my heart were losers at the box office or were mercilessly slammed by critics, usually both. This doesn’t happen all the time, mind you. I know a bad movie when I see one. But several times I have seen a movie on opening day and loved it so much I was sure it would be a big hit and be loved by critics and film goers, nope, not all the time.
Here then is my own personal and highly eccentric top ten list, with some honorable mentions, of movies that lost out, yet I love them still, many of them desperately, hysterically, madly do I love these films, well anyway… let me tell you about it.

Perhaps the only news of note this week is that in a move echoing what they did with Breaking Bad, Netflix has swooped in and gained rights to the TV series of From Dusk Til Dawn made in the states for Robert Rodriguez’s new El Rey network cable channel. Netflix will stream the episodes the day after they air in the states every week, curiously they are still billing this as ‘A Netflix Original’ when this isn’t the case necessarily. I have no idea as to the quality of this, the film From Dusk Til Dawn was one of my favourites when I was a teenager but how you drag that out into a ten part TV show I don’t know, let alone a possible second series. I watched the trailer and it looks solid and well-made as opposed to a cheap cash in and features Don Johnson...
