Before I knew Scott Wampler, I knew of Scott Wampler.
It was difficult, probably impossible, to work in my industry and not know about the guy. Even if you weren't familiar with his work as a writer and critic on the late, great Birth.Movies.Death or as co-host of the Kingcast podcast, you almost certainly knew him from Twitter, where he was a raucous, hilarious, and unpredictable presence who could shock and enlighten in equal measure (often at the same time). While Scott and I lived in the same city for many years, we spent much of that time acting as two ships in the night -- we shared many friends, but our paths rarely crossed. Frankly, part of me was relieved about this. He seemed so smart, so funny, and so on-point that the thought of interacting with him left me feeling intimidated.

Killer Collectibles highlights five of the most exciting new horror products released each and every week, from toys and apparel to artwork, records, and much more.
Here are the coolest horror collectibles unveiled this week!
The Menu Blu-ray from Searchlight Pictures
The Menu was one of the best surprises of the year; I went in knowing nothing about it and was pleasantly surprised to find a darkly hilarious horror-thriller. If you missed it, it’s coming to Digital on January 3 followed by Blu-ray and DVD on January 17 via Searchlight Pictures.
Mark Mylod directs from a script by Seth Reiss (Late Night with Seth Meyers) and Will Tracy (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver). The fantastic ensemble includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicholas Hoult, Ralph Fiennes, Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, and John Leguizamo.
No 4K Uhd is planned, unfortunately, but at least we get special features: a three-part making-of featurette with...

"Richard doesn’t have a past. For him, there is only the present: a new marriage to Tamara, a first chance at fatherhood to her son Elijah, and a quiet but pleasant life as an art teacher at Elijah’s elementary school in Danvers, Virginia. Then the body of a rabbit, ritualistically murdered, appears on the school grounds with a birthday card for Richard tucked beneath it. Richard doesn’t have...

There may be no one in independent horror having more of a moment right now than Brea Grant. As an actor, she starred in one of the best horror movies of 2020, After Midnight, and now The Stylist, already one of the best horror movies of 2021. As a writer, she’s responsible for Lucky (in which she also stars), an ambitious and inventive horror film about female fear that’s now available to stream on Shudder. As writer and director, she’s responsible for 12 Hour Shift, a bloody black comedy starring Angela Bettis as a drug-addicted nurse caught up in an organ harvesting scheme that goes bad; it was one of 2020’s best movies, full stop. The lesson from all of this? Give Brea Grant the keys to everything.
One of the infinite number of things that’s great about the Texas-born actor, writer, and director is her commitment to indie horror.

The world may be upside down, but the Hugo Awards are forever! The Hugos are the longest-running fan-voted awards in the genres of science fiction and fantasy, first bring presented in 1953. The awards are generally given out during the World Science Fiction Convention, which is in a different host city every year. Sadly, the 78th Worldcon, aka CoNZealand, set to take place in (you guessed it) New Zealand, will have to be virtual this year. The Hugo ceremony will therefore also take place online.
Today, CoNZealand announced the finalists for this year’s Hugos, voted on by 1,584 people, who submitted 27,033 nominations. Those who were members of last year’s Worldcon, An Irish Worldcon, and members of this year’s Worldcon, CoNZealand, were eligible to vote, however, only CoNZealand members will be able to vote on the final ballot and choose the winners. You can still purchase a Supporting Membership on...

Fans of Creature from the Black Lagoon may (or may not) know that the creature's iconic design was done by Milicent Patrick, who, like many women in the film industry, had her accomplishments erased from film history... until now. Mallory O'Meara and her book Lady from the Black Lagoon will be in attendance at this year's Chattanooga Film Festival along with many others. Also: a new The Prodigy shirt from Cavitycolors, Slaxx production and casting details, and a Children of the Corn-themed episode of the Pumpkin Spice Podcast.
Chattanooga Film Festival 2019 Events List Revealed: "With just over two months until the Chattanooga Film Festival’s sixth installment, organizers have got some cat filled bags and are hankering to let a few of those cats out.
First up, the triumphant return of Everything Is Terrible. Every time they come to Chattanooga their show has sold out and folks have had to be turned away.
