Casting turnover is the name of the game when it comes to the Law & Order franchise. Through 23 seasons of the flagship series (and not even to mention the many spinoffs), Law & Order has cycled through dozens of casting combinations in filling out both the “law” and “order” halves of its ensemble.
When Law & Order returned for season 21 in 2022 after a lengthy hiatus, it looked like it had a solid detective duo in place with Anthony Anderson’s Kevin Bernard and Jeffrey Donovan’s Frank Cosgrove. Now, just two years later both actors are gone. Anderson departed after season 21 and Donovan after season 22.
Law & Order season 23 pairs Mehcad Brooks’ Jalen Shaw (who replaced Anderson) with newbie Vincent Riley, played by recognizable face Reid Scott. If you’re wondering who Reid Scott is and what makes him a good fit for this crime drama, don’t worry – we’ve got the answers.

Reid Scott, best known for playing Dan Egan in the HBO political comedy series Veep, will be joining Season 23 of Law & Order in a series regular role. As reported by Variety, Scott will be portraying a NYPD detective in the upcoming season, though further details on his character, including a name, are currently being kept under wraps. Scott’s casting comes a week after Jeffrey Donovan, who played Detective Frank Cosgrove, was let go from the NBC drama over alleged “creative reasons.” Donovan starred in two seasons, having joined the show for Season 21 in 2022. While best known for his role in Veep, in which he starred across the show’s seven-season run, Scott has also appeared in the likes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Afterparty, American Horror Stories, Black-ish, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the latter of which he played Gordon Ford across two seasons. He’s also appeared in many films,...

“It was actually part of the pitch. The pitch was a journey from an Upper West Side ‘queen of six blocks’ house wife to Johnny Carson’s couch,” shares Amy Sherman-Palladino about how she originally envisioned the arc of her series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” The creator, writer, director, and executive producer stayed true to that vision in the series finale, which streamed on Amazon on May 26, and signed off with standup comic Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) making her big break on the Gordon Ford (Reid Scott) late night talk show. She thought ending at the moment when Midge “shot off like a rocket” made sense because “the fun is the struggle.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
Even though the series ends with Midge on the cusp of stardom, the entire season incorporated many flash-forwards to give the audience an idea of where each character winds up. A standout installment,...

Costume designer Donna Zakowska worked on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” for all five seasons of the Amazon Prime Video comedy and received Emmy nominations for each – with a win for Period Costumes for the second season of “Mrs. Maisel.” (Zakowska has another Emmy Award for “John Adams.”)
But the final season of “Mrs. Maisel” presented a host of new challenges for the acclaimed costume designer and 2023 Emmy nominee, namely a narrative that hopped between time periods and eras as viewers were given a chance to see the fates of Midge (Emmy nominee and past winner Rachel Brosnahan), Susie (Emmy nominee and past winner Alex Borstein), and many of the other beloved characters.
“The challenge was really condensing a lot into this last season and not losing the character,” Zakowska tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview as part of our Meet the Experts: Costume Designer panel. “It doesn’t...

By the finale of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which finished up its five-season run this year, Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) has undergone a full transformation. No longer the aspiring comedian-slash-housewife we met when the show began, Midge, it turns out, becomes the great success it always seemed she would be.

In its last batch of episodes, showrunners Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino gave the audience a glimpse into the future through flash-forwards, complete with detailed aging makeup, that demonstrated the Joan Rivers-esque sensation Midge is to become — along with the complicated ties she has with her children. In the 1960s timeline, Midge lands a gig working at a talk show run by a Johnny Carson-type figure, Gordon Ford (Reid Scott), a job she parlays into the moment that finally makes her a big star. [This story includes major spoilers for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel series finale, “Four Minutes.]
Miriam “Midge” Maisel officially became the “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” in the series finale titled “Four Minutes.”
The final episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel saw Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) take the biggest risk of her career when she finally got the chance to make an appearance on The Gordon Ford Show — against Gordon Ford’s (Reid Scott) wishes.
When Gordon’s wife, Hedy (Nina Arianda), forces the talk show host to put Midge on his show, he begrudgingly obliges and breaks his rule that employees can’t appear as guests on the show. But, instead of introducing her as a comic, he introduces her as the show’s “resident lady writer,” while the two sit on stools instead of the couch his guests usually sit on.
With four minutes left in the broadcast, Gordon cuts to commercial, much to Mike Carr’s (Jason Ralph) dismay.

The following post contains spoilers for the series finale of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
After five seasons and 20 Emmy Awards thus far – including Best Comedy Series in 2018 – “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” has come to an end with a series finale that left fans and critics satisfied.
So much happened in the episode, titled “Four Minutes,” including the final appearances by Emmy winner Luke Kirby as Lenny Bruce, the last “tits up” between Midge (Emmy winner Rachel Brosnahan) and Susie (two-time Emmy winner Alex Borstein), and the revelation of how the show’s lead character landed her titular adjective.
Following a season of fits and starts as Midge tries to work her way onto a broadcast of “The Gordon Ford Show,” she’s finally given a chance – but not in the way she had hoped. Rather than allow Midge to do her stand-up act for the late-night show’s audience – including...

The following story includes major spoilers from the series finale of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel… proceed with caution
The last ever episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which dropped on Amazon this morning (read our recap), pretty much tied up every character’s story arc with a resplendent, period appropriate bow. That’s not to say we weren’t left with a burning question or two or…. Ok, we had nearly a dozen. Luckily, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and fellow EP Daniel Palladino made themselves available to TVLine early Friday morning to field every last one of them.

Hank Azaria has built his career on two pillars: as a voice artist on “The Simpsons” and as a guest on a slew of hit shows from “Friends” to “Ray Donovan.” And with his recent turn on the fifth and final season of Amazon Prime Video’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Azaria has delivered another masterclass in guest-acting.
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” follows Rachel Brosnahan as the titular Miriam “Midge” Maisel, who embarks on a career in stand-up comedy after her husband (Michael Zegen) leaves her. Over the show’s five seasons, she experiences the ups and downs of said career with the help of her manager, Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein). Toward the end of season five, Midge is closer to seeing her career truly take off as she works in TV after she is hired to write for “The Gordon Ford Show” in the season premiere. And that’s where Azaria comes in.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5, Episode 9 “Four Minutes.”] The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has made its final curtain call in the series finale episode, “Four Minutes,” introducing viewers to Midge’s (Rachel Brosnahan) big break. While she’s had milestone moments throughout the series, this episode finally reveals the actual event that led to her stardom. After hounding Gordon Ford (Reid Scott) to let her on The Gordon Ford Show, Midge appears as a writer to speak with his audience, but she makes a bold choice to break away from the conversation and deliver a rousing standup routine. (Credit: Prime Video) Angry at first, Gordon is mad about her hijacking the show, but her talent was so undeniable, he couldn’t help but invite her to take a seat on the couch beside his desk, officially introducing her as the “Marvelous” Mrs. Maisel. Looking on from the sidelines was Susie (Alex Borstein...

We have come to the end.
On The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Episode 9 -- the series finale -- Midge Maisel finally gets her big break, performing her stand-up act live on The Gordon Ford Show.
It was a super-sized finale with plenty of excitement, heartbreaking moments, and, as always, laughs.
This episode saw the return of many characters, some we haven't seen much of (or at all) this season. We had Mrs. Moskowitz (hard-working as always), Alfie (in a cute little blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment), Imogene (we've missed you!), and of course, Lenny Bruce.
The episode starts off with Lenny's infamous Basin Street West performance. He would die the following year.
I was born famous.

What do you do when the late-night talk show you write for is at the top? Go ice skating! That’s what the Gordon Ford Show team did on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Actor Austin Basis, who plays Gordon Ford’s head writer, Alvin revealed that knowing how to ice skate for the scene was actually a bonus.
“Actually, when I got the part, they were like, ‘Oh yeah, can you ice skate?’ I was like, ‘Yeah. I mean, I usually don’t fall, but I don’t know if I could do any tricks.’ But, I was lucky enough, I actually did a skating part where I skated on the hockey rink during Beauty and the Beast. And I actually used hockey skates,” Basis told Showbiz Cheat Sheet.

Give it up for the marvelous Ms. Myerson!
On The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Episode 6, Susie finally gets her due for being the best damn manager in show business.
The show is careening towards its finale with (even more!) new characters and enough time jumps to make your head spin.
This episode will likely be polarizing for viewers. Some may love it, applauding its ambitious narrative style, while others may hate it, finding it too convoluted to enjoy.
Like many of the Susie stories told by the comedians after the ceremony, the truth likely lies somewhere in between.
Seeing Susie acknowledged and praised was satisfying, but seeing how bitter and jaded she'd become was hard.
This definitely played like a "Best Of" Susie reel. With all the time-jumping, though, we're getting less grounded and more detached from the story set in the present.

It’s been several months since “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” wrapped production — long enough that series star Rachel Brosnahan totally forgot that, in this week’s episode, she became a pirate. Reid Scott might be best known for playing an asshole, so it’s understandable if fans of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” are on high alert this season.
Scott joins the Prime Video comedy in its final season as Gordon Ford, a late-night talk show host and Midge Maisel’s (Rachel Brosnahan) new boss as she tackles the unruly territory of an all-male television writers room. In Episode 3, Gordon tries to kiss her, and in Episode 4 he boldly asks her out despite being married.

Music has always been an intrinsic part of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, with a perfectly curated soundtrack for both its in-era songs its often anachronistic end credits music.
However, on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Episode 4, we get the closest we've ever gotten to a musical episode, even if all the numbers are diegetic.
"Take It Away!" is the perfect title for the opening number of a trash-related musical.
Composers Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore have truly outdone themselves with the many songs for this show-within-a show as well as the opening number" Everything Goes" and the "Dream Kitchen," which feels both whimsical and authentic to the period.
Emily Bergl's Tessie shows up here and gets to sing, which we learned recently is a thing she likes to do. It may be on a big pile of trash, but at least she's center stage, much to Susie's surprise.

“Over hill, over dale, as we hit the dusty trail, and those caissons go rolling along. In and out, hear them shout, counter march and right about, and those caissons go rolling along.”
Catchy tune, isn’t it? The war tune, “The Army Goes Rolling Along” was belted out on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel every time someone used the bathroom in Gordon Ford head writer Alvin’s office. God forbid anyone in the writers’ room hear someone pee.
But this was the ’60s when modesty and manners were still important. So singing the catchy song was an added quirk to tickle the audience’s funny bone.
Why was ‘The Army Goes Rolling Along’ chosen for ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Season 5?
Even choosing the right tune for the writers’ room scene was a bit for Maisel writers and creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. “The funny story is Dan Palladino wrote that episode.

Enormous critical acclaim is nice, I’m sure. It is, after all, what television writers and actors aspire to. But there’s also a joy in being a sleeper hit; a cult show that cruises under the radar but develops an obsessed following. Less glamorous, though, is programming that achieves middling commendations, medium admiration. Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is in this latter category: good reviews, a smattering of Emmys, and decent audiences on Amazon’s streaming service can’t hide the fact that Amy Sherman Palladino’s late-1950s comedy-drama has always been a touch unloved. As the curtain comes down with its fifth and final series, is it time to reappraise one of the warmest, wittiest shows of recent years?

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is performing her last set this spring. On Monday, Amazon Prime Video released the trailer for the fifth and final season of the Emmy-winning dramedy about comedy, which premieres in April.
In Season 5, Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) is trying to book a spot on “The Gordon Ford Show,” a late-night talk show. If she nails “Gordon Ford,” she will become a big star. But it’s not easy. To paraphrase the official Season 5 synopsis, Midge is closer than ever to the success she desires but closer than ever is still so far away.
The storyline appears to be inspired by Joan Rivers’ legendary appearance on “The Tonight Show” in 1965. After seven auditions, Rivers finally landed a spot, and she did so well that Johnny Carson told her, “You’re gonna be a star.” After that, she was.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is clearly taking a “go big or go home” approach to its fifth and final season. To wit: The Prime Video smash held its final table read at New York’s Steiner Studios on Wednesday and it’d be an understatement to say no expense was spared.
The streamer’s Head of Awards, Debra Birnbaum, shared on Instagram Thursday a collection of photos from the grandiose event, which featured an opulent banquet hall-type setting and culminated with a fireworks display.

Handsome Man will finally get a name in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" season five. As reported by TVLine, Milo Ventimiglia is returning to "Mrs. Maisel" for the final season - and this time he might actually get to say more than one sentence. The news comes after the "This Is Us" star's much-hyped season four guest appearance turned out to be a mostly nonspeaking part.
In season four, Ventimiglia played a character simply known as Handsome Man, who has an intense flirtation with Midge (Rachel Brosnahan). However, when the two spontaneously hook up, his character's wife walks in on them. This prompts Midge to make a hasty exit sans her lucky dress. The small role reunited Ventimiglia with "Gilmore Girls" and "Mrs. Maisel" executive producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, but it also left fans wanting more.
The good news is viewers will be seeing more of Ventimiglia when the...

When a season of TV ends with a man on a billboard, it's safe to assume that said man will be pretty damn important going forward. But in defense of all the many "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" fans who failed to read the tea leaves, we were way too busy sobbing over Lenny Bruce to hyper-fixate on the importance of Reid Scott as Gordon Ford. Alas, the time has come to tear our eyes away from our favorite pair of troubled comedians and instead look to the fictitious talk show host who will play a major role...

Matt Bomer is bringing a decades-spanning love story to life at Showtime, which has ordered Fellow Travelers, a limited series starring and executive-produced by the White Collar vet.
Based on Thomas Mallon’s novel, the drama is described as “an epic love story and political thriller, chronicling the volatile romance of two very different men who meet in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington,” per Showtime.

Exclusive: If you interpreted the Season 4 finale of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to mean that character Gordon Ford was going to play a key role in future episodes, you would be correct. Deadline has learned that Reid Scott, who plays Ford, will become a series regular in the fifth and final season of the Prime Video series.
Scott was featured in four episodes of Maisel last season as Ford, the host of a fictitious talk show. The fourth season ended with Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) looking up at a billboard advertising the handsome host. Will Midge get that coveted appearance in late-night?
Best known for starring opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus on HBO’s Veep, Scott’s most recent credits include stints on Black-ish, The Afterparty, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Why Women Kill and the Venom franchise. He is repped by Gersh, Impression Entertainment, and attorney Rick Genow.

Warning: contains spoilers for episodes 5 and 6 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
It all comes down to tenacity. Who wants it more?
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 Episode 5 saw many conflicts and betrayals arise, some with solutions and some continually annoying.
Many characters got pushed out of their comfort zones in these two episodes. How they reacted and responded dictated their success.
Midge's loyalty to Shy was tested when she received a wedding invitation. Despite her need for revenge, it hit her during the fancy wedding reception that she had done Shy wrong.
It was satisfying to see Midge take ownership of what she did to Shy and how it hurt him. She recognized her shortcomings in that she deeply hurt someone she cared about just to get some laughs -- and she told him so. Shy finally seemed to accept her apology, even hoping to be friends again.
