- Joe's first start behind the the camera came as part of his job capturing prison riots, hostage situations, and gang violence within the Texas prison system. Years later, after being convinced by a friend to give acting a try, he was soon directed by Robert Rodriguez in a scene with Damien Bichir in the film Machete Kills. This gave him his first experience watching a director at work.
Not long after, while working on a national commercial, he found himself receiving direction from Ken Arlidge, whose credits include Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket and George Miller's Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Ken's style of shooting and approach to directing made a significant impact on Joe, pushing him to pursue a career behind the camera. His first project was a promotional video for a local art gallery in Austin, TX. Since then he has directed numerous and diverse projects for companies such as AEG Global Partnerships, Monster Products, Dripping Springs Vodka, AXS TV, Passions Footwear, and Heyman Talent Agency. Joe has also shot live performances for spots that featured notable acts including Ice-T, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Childish Gambino, The Fall of Troy, and Alejandro Escovedo.
