Updated: HBO’s Emmy Award-winning comedy Insecure, starring series’ co-creator Issa Rae and Yvonne Orji, will begin airing two back-to-back episodes on Tuesday night on OWN. It premieres on Tuesday, February 7 at 9:00 p.m. Et/ Pt with the show’s pilot episode titled “Insecure As F**k.”
This is a rare HBO series to get an off-network run on basic cable where premium content normally has to be sanitized to comply with ad-supported networks’ broadcast standards for language, nudity, violence, etc. In this case, the agreement with HBO and Rae does not allow for any edits or alterations to the content besides the insertion of commercial breaks. Aside from those and a Standards & Practices advisory cards at the top of each break, the show will air as it was created for HBO, sources tell Deadline.

I’ve previously written about London-based filmmaker, writer and artist Cecile Emeke, and her short film “Ackee & Saltfish" (Here), but that doesn’t mean she’s been resting on her laurels. In fact, for the past year, she’s been working on a documentary web series in London she calls “Strolling,” which is a set of interviews shot on the streets on London with young men and women as they walk and talk about various social and political issues that they are concerned about, and that effect them. Now Ms. Emeke has traveled across the English Channel to create a French version of "Strolling" called "Flaner." She has already completed her...

Here’s the trailer for the an upcoming UK-made short film, "Ackee & Saltfish," which one could definitely call quirky. Judging from the trailer, it has a loose-limbed, free-flowing, improvisational tone that I found similar to Robert Altman films. Just when you think you know where it's going, it shifts and goes into a different direction altogether. Starring Michelle Tiwo and Vanessa Babirye, and written, directed and photographed by Cecile Emeke, the film deals with two best friends, Olivia and Rachel, spending a sunny day in east London, on their way to pick up some food, after Rachel forgets to soak the saltfish. That’s it; but their comedic...
