Pradipto Sengupta is a Los Angeles based veteran of the Animation Movie industry He was born in Dhanbad, a small town in Eastern India. He is best known for his work on How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) The Boss Baby 2: Family Business (2021) Wish Dragon (2021) Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012)
His journey into the movie industry was influenced by his mother who immersed him into works of Satyajit Ray, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Jules Verne - all of which left a profound impact on him. Excelling in academics and arts at one of India's most prestigious schools, Rama Krishna Mission Purulia, Pradipto as a child always dreamt of making movies. However the journey to animation was not so easy, especially belonging to a conservative middle class where education took precedence. Till date, one of the biggest challenges he considers, was to convince his dad that he wants to leave studies and make movies.
His first break was on Little Krishna (2009) TV series as a junior artist in 2007. Bigger challenges beckoned, and Pradipto was hired by Crest Animation Studio,Mumbai in 2008 to help on one of India's breakthrough 3D animation movie Alpha and Omega (2010) as a Fur R&D artist. With an experience of just little over 1 year , he played a pivotal role in making the movie.
Pradipto was an early recruit at DreamWorks Animation India where he worked on several critically acclaimed movies such as Golden Globe Winner and Oscar nominated The Boss Baby 2: Family Business (2021) and The Boss Baby (2017) as well as on commercially successful movies such as Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012) Puss in Boots (2011) to name a few.
Seeking newer challenges, Pradipto travelled to China in 2017 to work with BaseFx Animation and help on their first animation feature Wish Dragon (2021). He trained local artists and helped in setting up the CFX workflow at the startup studio. Later in 2018, Pradipto moved to Los Angeles to join his dream studio DreamWorks Animation in California to work on Abominable (2019) and continues to work there.
