Parents and reporters were asked to leave Uvalde City Hall this afternoon before a Texas House of Representatives committee held a hearing to gather testimony from officers involved in the response to a school shooting that killed 19 students and two teachers and wounded 17 others there last month.
Video posted by CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz shows a fire marshal telling Prokupecz that they are being asked to leave the meeting because “someone is intimidated.”
As the conversation continues a chaplain walks by saying he’s “come down to protect our children.”
Another man, whose nephew reportedly was among those killed in the shooting, asks the fire marshal, “What people are intimidated, the officers?”
The fire marshal responds by asking the man — who is wearing a pin with a child’s picture on it and a “Uvalde Strong” T-shirt — to leave the building.
“Are you a parent, sir?” Prokepecz asks the man as he walks out.

The Jefferson County grand jury has issued an indictment in the Breonna Taylor case, announcing three counts against one officer for wanton endangerment and disregard for human life by randomly shooting into an apartment and not against a specific target. Police officers are required to shoot at specific targets, not indiscriminately. The “wanton disregard” charge could result in a five-year prison sentence. It is considered a lesser offense than manslaughter, which could bring a lengthier sentence.
Taylor was killed on March 13 at age 26 after being shot by three Louisville Metro Police Department officers, only one of whom was charged today — the one who was initially fired for the killing. The cops forced entry into her apartment with a no-knock search warrant and Taylor was shot eight times in the midst of gunfire between the police and Taylor’s boyfriend. NBC News reporter Ben Collins blamed Fox News and the conservative media after a series of suspected package bombs were sent to a number of high-ranking politicians, including former President Obama and Hillary Clinton.
“There will be a rush to pin these mailbombs on extremist talking points from fringe websites like 4chan and Qanon-adjacent communities on Reddit and Facebook,” said Collins in a tweet Wednesday. “But Soros, Obama and the Clintons have been viewed as the root of all evil on talk radio and Fox News for over a decade.”
“Extremist talking points may get workshopped on fringe sites, but they’re platformed on and reach the most dupes on Fox News. Never forget that Sean Hannity was literally tying Hillary Clinton to actual Satanism three days before the 2016 election,” Collins continued, and linked to piece he wrote for the Daily Beast about how Fox News host Sean Hannity claimed the Clinton campaign “worshiped Satan.

Updated with Sean Hannity tweets, 1:07 Pm: A federal judge today ordered Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen to identify his third client — alongside the president and Elliott Broidy — and the name is one familiar to cable news watchers: Sean Hannity.
