Yesterday, we got the first details concerning some of the many tie-ins that are sure to orbit Marvel’s next major crossover event, Secret Empire. But today, we examine some juicy tidbits pertaining to the main event itself as more pieces of cover art and official solicitations have found their way online.
Naturally, we’ll start by taking a look at the first issue. Aside from featuring the moment when Steve Rogers finally reveals himself as an agent of Hydra in a tale written by Nick Spencer and illustrated by fan favorite artist Steve McNiven, the variant covers seen in the gallery at the top give us a bit to discuss.
In the debut of Andrea Sorrentino’s “Hydra Hero” variants, we see Hulk be the first to get the treatment. And, hopefully, his allegiance...

The Doctor Strange blu-ray/DVD extras have leaked online and Screen Rant has posted an interesting tidbit from Avengers: Infinity War co-writer Stephen McFeely concerning the reason behind Thanos' machinations in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Per McFeely, “His goal is to re-balance the universe as he sees it. So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him at the snap of a finger, that becomes his main goal.” In the comics, Thanos is an Eternal who is obsessed with Mistress Death, the physical embodiment of the abstract idea of fatality and oblivion. In an attempt to win "her" affection, Thanos destroys half of the entire Marvel universe in 1991's The Infinity Gauntlet miniseries from Jim Starlin, Ron Lim and George Perez . However, it sounds as if that will be tweaked in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as this version of the Mad Titan will be seeking to "re-balance it.

Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is being heavily linked with the next two Avengers movies...
The cast of Marvel's third Avengers movie, Avengers: Infinity War is already on the large side. What's more, the story of the movie is so big that it can only be contained by two films. So while Infinity War is no longer strictly a two-part movie, this and Avengers 4 are shooting back-to-back, so there's considerable crossover in the story.
Variety reports that Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is in talks for a "key role" in both Avengers: Infinity War and the still-untitled Avengers 4. With Game of Thrones season 7 recently having wrapped principal photography, that leaves Dinklage plenty of time off from his role as Tyrion Lannister for the Infinity War shoot, which should kick off in the summer.
So who could this key role be?
Well, Variety has no info on that,...

Deathstroke will be the main villain in the upcoming stand alone Batman film starring Ben Affleck, but it looks like his first appearance will be in Justice League, as teased by Affleck himself.
Ben Affleck revealed a video earlier this morning that showed Deathstroke walking towards the camera, ready to do something chaotic. It looked to be a lighting test for the shot, but many assumed this was for Justice League.
The Wrap confirmed that Deathstroke will appear in the stand alone Batman film, which is filming side-by-side with the Justice League movie. However there is still a chance that this scene is from Justice League.

Updated IMDb cast listing for the standalone Dceu Wonder Woman film reveals that Florence Kasumba, who had a memorable moment with Scarlett Johansson's Black Window in Captain America: Civil War, is playing an Amazon. And not just a background warrior, Kasumba's actually playing a character from the comics, Senator Acantha, who debuted in Wonder Woman #10 (1987). In that run from George Perez and Len Wein, Acantha was one of the Amazonian leaders who argued that Diana should be allowed to serve as an ambassador to the world of 'Man.' Perhaps similar scenes will unfold in Patty Jenkins' film? Also, what do you think are the odds we ever see the 'Security Chief' have a reunion with Black Widow? Nathasha Romanoff has had her teeth rattled before by the Dora Milaje in the comics. ...

Gotham, Season 2, Episode 4, “Strike Force”
Written by Danny Cannon
Directed by Tj Scott
Airs Mondays at 8pm (Et) on Fox
Gotham enters a new arc as Theo Galavan begins to implement phase two of his plan to seize control of the City. The first part of his plan was to bestow chaos by unleashing the Maniax and his next move involves making himself appear as a hero to win the hearts and minds of the citizens. The extent of this plan was accomplished with the surprising twist in last week’s “The Last Laugh”, which also disposed of one of the show’s most interesting villains. This turn has reaped rewards for Galavan, as well as created a new shift in the direction of the season.
Galavan’s staged heroism has won him a candidacy for the Mayor’s office which will give passage for the next phase of his evil plan.

Future Imperfect #1
Written by Peter David
Art by Greg Land
Colors by Nolan Woodard
Published by Marvel Comics
Peter David’s long and cerebral run on the Incredible Hulk stood out in a sea of mediocrity compared to the rest of Marvel’s output during the 90s. He changed the character forever, from green to gray from smart and back to “gravage.” One of the highlights of his run was creating the Maestro, the ruler of Dystopia for a two part story “Future Imperfect” in 1992. It was immaculately drawn by George Perez, who switched gears after years of drawing team books for something grittier and substantial.
The book is still vastly lauded and the writer sees it as an “inverted Terminator.” The two parter took place during the period of the “Merged Hulk” era. The Hulk was transported to the future by Rick Jones’ daughter Janis, and upon arriving he...

Artist/writer Jill Thompson has one of the most idiosyncratic bodies of work in contemporary comics ranging from important arcs on legendary comics series The Sandman and The Invisibles to more traditional superhero work like a run on Wonder Woman as well her own creator owned comic/children’s book/film series Scary Godmother. She has drawn everything from dying stripper gods to Romantic poets, Batman to Bart Simpson and even an all animal cast in her Eisner winning Dark Horse series Beasts of Burden with writer Evan Dorkin. She is also one of the few creators not named Neil Gaiman allowed to write The Endless in her Li’l Endless and Death stories.
But before she was winning awards and one of DC/Vertigo’s rising stars, Jill Thompson was a graduate of American Academy of Art in Chicago and doing art for several of the (now defunct) indie publishers of the late 1980s.

Founded in 1994 by Michael and Renee George, Pittsburgh Comicon is held every year in the Monroeville Convention Center, near the Monroeville Mall. Fans of the horror genre will recognize the mall from its appearance in Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008), among others. The city’s pop-culture history makes it an ideal location for a pop-culture based convention. The convention is usually small, but has been used to raise more than $250,000 at a time for local charities including the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Over the years, the show has been host to some of the largest names in the entertainment industry, including greats like Kevin Smith, Tom Savini, Mark Waid, and even Stan Lee. The convention has even been the setting for a few of my articles here at Sound on Sight.
This year, Pittsburgh Comicon made a major announcement. The convention has been taken over by Wizard World,...

The best calendar for 2015 was released in 1981 by Marvel Comics! This was a fan club anniversary calendar that was put together by Stan Lee 34 years ago, and all of the days and dates perfectly align with all of the days and dates of this year. It's pretty freakin' awesome, and it features some really spectacular artwork from legendary comic artists such as Bill Sienkiewicz, Joe Sinnott, John Romita Jr., Frank Miller, and George Perez. A big thanks to cartoonist Mark Anderson, who scanned the calendar for everyone to enjoy! I guess that means you can use any calendar from 1981 for 2015. If you find one cooler than this, let me know!
