HBO received a blessing of sorts from the TV Gods this past weekend with the premiere of megachurch comedy The Righteous Gemstones and the second episode of the second season of Succession.
Coming in almost the same as the series high of the August 11 Season 2 debut, the Brian Cox-led global media moguls drama snared 603,000 viewers for its August 18 “Vaulter” episode.
Dipping just over 1% in the initial linear audience from last week’s Season 2 “The Summer Palace” airing, the second episode of Succession’s second season went up a touch over 1 million viewers when replays and digital platforms are added. Down 17% in total sets of eyeballs from the Season 2 opener, the Jon Brown-penned “Vaulter” is nonetheless the second most watched episode of Succession ever to date.
All of which set the stage quite nicely for the start of Danny McBride’s latest comedy on Sunday night at 10 Pm – and...

On a day when much of the country was glued to Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Ford’s testimony during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing, two female TV stars went public for the first time about being sexually assaulted as teenagers.

When Cedric the Entertainer joined “The Neighborhood,” the show immediately changed focus.
Creator Jim Reynolds (“The Big Bang Theory”) originally envisioned the upcoming CBS show, inspired by his family’s experience moving into a historically black neighborhood in Pasadena, as told through the perspective of his small-screen alter ego. Cedric’s arrival as star and executive producer called for a different approach.
Right off the bat, Cedric told Reynolds that he had a strong point of view, and the showrunner welcomed the input. “He gave us the benefit of having an authentic African-American point of view,” Reynolds says.
Now the show operates more as a two hander, the showrunner says.
Cedric plays Calvin Butler, a curmudgeon who casts a baleful eye on the friendly overtures of newcomers Dave Johnson (Max Greenfield) and wife Gemma (Beth Behrs). Calvin is wary that his new Midwestern neighbors will bring gentrification to his L.

Keanu Reeves and Daniel Dae Kim have jumped on board a new Netflix comedy in production called Always Be My Maybe. The film is currently in production and the actors will join the previously cast Ali Wong and Randall Park. It's a rare thing to see Reeves do comedy, but it's always fun to see him take on a comedic role. I have no idea what to expect from him in this film, but I hope it's good!
