Gen V Season 2 Starts Filming, Set Photos Revealed(Photo Credit –IMDb)
There is an exciting update for the fans of Prime Video’s Gen V as the filming of the second season of the show has commenced. A couple of cast members have taken to social media to post pictures from the sets of the superhero series, confirming that season 2 is now in production.
The development comes two months after the tragic demise of Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson in The Boys’ spin-off. After the unfortunate event, the producers decided to delay the filming of the new season to give time to the cast and crew to process the loss and also to rewrite some portions of the storyline to explain Anderson’s departure from the show, as they decided not to recast the character.

Chance Perdomo’s “Gen V” character Andre Anderson will not be recast for Season 2 of “The Boys” spinoff series.
Perdomo died at the age of 27 in March as a result of a motorcycle accident. In a joint statement released on Sunday, the “Gen V” producers said they will not recast the role because “no one can replace Chance.”
“Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May,” the statement continued. “We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”
Perdomo starred in the first season of “Gen V” as Andre Anderson, a student at Godolkin University who harnesses magnetic manipulation abilities. In the season finale, Andre — along with fellow students Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan Li (Derek Luh and London Thor) and Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway) — is last seen being held in a high-security facility after the massacre at God U.

This article contains spoilers for The Boys and Gen V.
Between the original series and the latest spinoff Gen V, The Boys universe has done a great job thus far of showing us the insidiousness of Vought and the supe-fueled culture that they’ve fabricated. However, the difference in perspective that these companion shows give us helps to paint an even broader picture of just how much Compound V has impacted the lives of supes and humans alike, and just how much work Vought has done over decades to normalize it.
The Boys has dipped its toes into showing us the physical cost that having superpowers can take through A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) and the heart attack he suffers after overdosing on Compound V to enhance his powers. Even though he recovers, he has to limit the use of his abilities for a while, which threatens his position in The Seven...

“You took that blast like a f*ckin’ champ,” Gen V’s Andre Anderson (Chance Perdomo) tells Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) at the end of the Season 1 finale, which debuted Friday on Prime Video. “Anyone else would be in the ground,” the young superhero adds as he, the hemokinetic Marie, Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway) and Jordan Li (London Thor/Derek Luh) find themselves trapped in what appears to be an underground medical facility with no doors.

Gen V's freshman season has been full of ups and downs, and sometimes, the story can be frustrating to follow along, let alone get invested in.
Some of the decisions that have been made regarding the characters and plot points have been genuinely disappointing and might amount to crimes against the show.
But one thing the show has not been is boring. It has been a nice ride with the numerous shocking scenes, wild action, and enticing ships. Gen V Season 1 Episode 8 completed this part of the ride by delivering a fantastic season finale.
With this show, one can never know what to expect. It can be a good thing, or it can sink the ship.
I stopped trying to figure out where the story was headed a long time ago, and maybe for the better, because Gen V Season 1 Episode 7 took a turn and had the narrative going in another direction.

It’s completely understandable if you’re having trouble remembering what happened in the first three episodes of Gen V, the teen-set spin-off of superhero satire The Boys. After watching Emma aka Little Cricket (Lizzie Broadway) using her powers to appease a partner’s fantasies, everything else kind of falls away.
But like its parent series, Gen V has a lot more going on than just shocking sex and violence. By focusing on the next generation of Supes, the teens who received powers after being injected with Compound V as children, Gen V adds a layer of soapy drama to the social satire and superhero action.
When Does Gen V Episode 4 Premiere?

Seemingly, having a bunch of phony, deplorable supers posing as Earth’s greatest heroes was not edgy enough for the taste of contemporary audiences and the makers over at Amazon Studios. Therefore, after some soul searching, The Boys universe has found the perfect subject matter to go with its trademark abundance of gore, violence, unaccountability, and irreverence with the release of the latest live-action spin-off series Gen V—hormonal college grads with superpowers.

Gen V definitely has one of the best origin stories for a leading character in any movie or TV series. Spin-off to the hit anti-superhero series The Boys, Gen V is set in Vought’s Godolkin University aka “God U” and it follows the story of a group of young supes trying to learn how to be real heroes. But it is set in The Boys universe, so it couldn’t just be that as we see our heroes getting tangled in a conspiracy that might be too big for them to handle on their own.
Created by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Craig Rosenberg and show run by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, Gen V has all the qualities The Boys fans were hoping for and a bit more. The spin-off series comfortably builds on The Boy’s themes with its own weird and fresh spin. The...

There is a preconceived notion that comics writer Garth Ennis dislikes superhero culture with a passion, which is at times quite evident from all the brutally sarcastic jabs he delivered to the genre through some of his seminal works like Hitman. But his most scathing commentary took the form of a bitter deconstruction of the established superhero status quo, The Boys, which has been famously adapted into a TV series by Amazon Prime. Far removed from the idealistic world where superheroes exist to serve justice with honor, the superheroes in The Boys abuse power to their hearts’ fill—an aspect that has clicked with the audience so much that the series has spawned three seasons already, as has the spin-off series Gen V, which has been released recently.

From Prime Video’s “The Boys” comes its new spinoff “Gen V,” which centers on young superheroes who are fighting for their spot in the prestigious super group the Seven.
“Gen V” is centered on the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, an injectable chemical that can turn normal humans into powerful, nearly-unstoppable beings who possess abilities like mighty strength, telekinesis and super speed.
While competing to earn the top ranking at their school, Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, the young heroes will put their skills to the test while juggling their moral compass. And when the school’s dark and twisted secrets come to light, the students must decide between whether they’d like to be a hero or fly another more villainous route.

Plot: Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?
Review: The first season of The Boys was a shocking mix of superhero storytelling with a dark streak of humor that we had never seen before.

The Boys has been one of the biggest shows on TV since its premiere in 2019. It was inevitable Prime Video would be interested in expanding the franchise, but the outcome of that expansion was unknown.
Launching new IPs is becoming increasingly difficult due to fragmented audiences, a result in part because of the endless ways to consume content. To capture a wide array of viewers across platforms, it makes sense to engage in established universes that touch a broader viewership.
Even expanding an existing universe has its challenges, and Gen V didn't have the easiest road to the screen, with many of the initial cast being replaced as production got underway.
That's not uncommon, but it does make you wonder whether there was unease about the initial quality of the series. We can say that if you read our Gen V: Everything We Know article about the show, we didn't...

If you expected “Gen V” to be as subversive, perverse and brilliant as “The Boys,” only more sophomoric, you won’t be disappointed.
Prime Video’s college-set spin-off of TV’s smartest, sickest superhero show brings adolescent angst to the paranoid world powered by the chemical/military/supes entertainment conglomerate, Vought International. The show is centered on young people who were dosed at birth with the company’s extra-human abilities generating Compound V studying at Godolkin University. Everyone calls the place God U, where they either major in crime fighting or brand management.
Extracurricular concerns include social media notoriety, gender dysphoria, lost siblings, cutting, bulimia, suicide and the perennial parents who suck (as do most other adults). “Gen V” puts sci-fi spins on these and other youth-adjacent issues, which generates kooky but sometimes clever and resonant metaphors.
There’s also, of course, all the hooking up, getting wasted, uncontrolled outbursts...

Prime Video’s The Boys spinoff, Gen V, explores how young superheroes learn to handle their special abilities. It’s not like they can practice setting themselves on fire or altering their size at a normal high school, so these budding superhero superstars attend Godolkin University. (Think Hogwarts but for supes.)
Prime Video promises this spinoff will retain the dark humor of The Boys while focusing on the next generation of supes.
“I think part of the thing that audiences love is that they’re taking the piss out of all of the exhaustive superhero explorations that we’ve seen and turning it all on its head,” explained Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios in an interview with EW. “But I actually think they’ve done it so well that they have earned the right to expand and explore. So, the same irreverence that The Boys has is in Gen V.

Gen V will take fans of The Boys to a superhero university when it hits the air on Friday, September 29, 2023.
Prime Video shared character descriptions this week so that we can get intel on who we'll be rooting for/against.
If the original series has taught us anything, there will be plenty of polarizing characters.
Will the same ring true for Gen V? We think so.
The series is headlined by Jaz Sinclair, who plays Marie Moreau, an 18-year-old superhero with the ability to control and weaponize her own blood.
As an incoming freshman at Vought-run Godolkin University, she is eager to prove she has what it takes to join The Seven but is sidetracked by a mystery she begins to unravel at the school.
Sinclair's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina costar Chance Perdomo is on board as Andre Anderson, a junior at Godolkin University with magnetic powers.
