Comic book author Brian Michael Bendis has set a first-look deal with Amazon is already developing three TV series under the new pact based on his previous works: “Jinx,” “Murder Inc.” and “Pearl.”
“Jinx” is a crime-ridden love story unfolding on a high stakes treasure hunt, per Amazon’s series description. Our players are: Jinx Alameda, a bounty hunter at the top of her game who’s tired of her grimy life; Goldfish, a charming con man and wanted felon who falls head over heels for Jinx; and Columbia, Goldfish’s loose-cannon partner, who has big criminal dreams. Their paths join when they’re pulled into a search for missing mob money — a payout so big that it lures them away from the familiar streets of Cleveland, into a dangerous, unpredictable misadventure that will change the course of their lives.
“Jinx” is executive produced by Bendis along with showrunners Ayelet Waldman and Michael Chabon.

I’ve always loved Jessica Jones, ever since her first appearance back in 2001. (Nineteen years?! where did that go) Her original series, Alias, was created by Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos, with fab David Mack covers, and is still well worth a read today. She was created for the mature reader Max imprint and although since she has strayed into mainstream Marvel Avengers books, which tone her down a little too much, I’m pleased to see here she is back to her mature readers only roots. I haven’t kept up with every book she has been in, due to Marvel’s continual issuing of first issues and even putting her back in her costume, but usually things end up righting themselves, and this book looks like the one to do it.

DC wants more Pearl, and the Scarlet TV series is getting a little closer to reality!
Saturday at the Brian Michael Bendis Spotlight Panel at New York Comic Con, co-creators of Jessica Jones writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos announced that their new Jinxworld series Pearl will become a regular series.
Pearl is the story of a Japanese tattoo artist trying to survive the world of the Yakuza underworld. “When the numbers on the first issues came in,” Bendis told the panel, “DC sent us to series.”
As for Gaydos, the artist said he is having the time of his life with Pearl. “I’m having so much fun experimenting,” the artist said. “I can only see it getting better.” When the series returns after the end of the first six issue arc, Pearl will travel to Japan. Gaydos called the series the “…hardest series I have ever worked on,...

The long-awaited return of beloved hard-drinking, super-powered P.I. “Jessica Jones” is exciting not just for fans, but for creator Melissa Rosenberg, whose noir take on the Marvel comics by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos has been one of the best things to come out of the explosion that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“It’s so thrilling after having worked on this for so long,” Rosenberg told IndieWire just after the show’s premiere. “People’s reactions have been overwhelmingly wonderful.”
[Editor’s note: Mild spoilers follow for “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” Season 2.]
Below, Rosenberg reveals what it’s like to be a creator working inside the Marvel universe, the choice to explore a whole new aspect of Jessica’s backstory, where things stand in terms of Season 3, and how an all-female line-up of episode directors changed things on set.
Being a Creator Inside the Marvel Bubble
The Marvel universe on Netflix has become quite the sprawling beast since “Jessica Jones” Season 1 premiered.

A lot of people try to slap labels on Jessica Jones. If you've watched the first season of Netflix's Marvel show, you know that's a bad move if you want to keep your limbs intact. In the series' sophomore season, which starts streaming today, our detective with the strength of 10 men and the massive chip on her shoulder gets called a "vigilante superhero." A "freak." A "murderer." A "ticking time bomb." "Keep telling me who I am. I dare you," she says finally, officially hitting her fed-the-hell-up capacity.

Last Friday, my pal Larry Hama invited me to a “friends and family” screening of the first two episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders. I mean the new series debuting on Netflix today, not the classic television show, The Defenders, the source of many many jokes made during the screening.
Also in attendance: Tony Isabella, Michael Gaydos and his adorable son, Arvell Jones, and the families of Archie Goodwin and George Tuska. Plus a bunch of current Marvel folks who had probably already seen the whole series, but who were gracious hosts.
Before the screening began, I was feeling pretty warm and fuzzy about seeing so many of my old friends and meeting people whose work I admired. Hence, I was psyched to enjoy two hours in a comfy chair in a screening room.
Mostly, I had a great time. I have a huge crush on Charlie Cox, the beautiful man who plays Matt Murdock.

We still have quite a wait until Jessica Jones season 2 hits Netflix, though we'll be seeing the character again next year when she teams up with Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist in The Defenders. In the meantime, Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has been busy crafting the story for the next season, and spoke with IGN about her plans for the character, along with working alongside the Defenders showrunners. While the first season drew heavily from "Alias" by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, the second season will strike out on its own, introducing some new supporting characters. January 2016, Netflix renewed "Jessica Jones" for a second season.
"...she's damaged yet determined. She's powerful but not your average hero.

By now, most of you have met Jessica Jones, the new Marvel superhero whose very own TV show on Netflix debuted in full on Friday. It’s the second installment of the Marvel-Netflix team-up, and its highest achievement is how much lower it is to the ground, making us feel even closer to its characters than "Daredevil" (reviewed here) and, as a result, assimilating us even further to this particular corner of the McU. And I won’t lie; Melissa Rosenberg's name flashed a few red flags when I heard that she was the showrunner, what with her CV being overshadowed by her work in the "Twilight" series. But, flags be damned because she does an excellent job of creating something wholly different and refreshing with Brian Michael Bendis' and Michael Gaydos' foul-mouthed, damaged, aspiring-superhero-turned-disenchanted-private-investigator from "Alias." It was Marvel's first strictly adult-oriented comic book, and – maybe...

Yes, Jessica Jones is as good as you’ve heard. Better yet, it’s enjoyable even if you’ve never heard of the main character and know nothing of the comics it’s based on. I’m definitely part of that demographic, and on top of that, I liked the show even though I’ve been suffering from a persistent case of superhero fatigue over the past few years (symptoms include crankiness, reflexive eye-rolling at the Marvel logo, and a tendency to work laments about the death of the mid-budget adult drama into reviews that don’t need them). I have it on good authority that the series, which was adapted by Melissa Rosenberg from the comic by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, is a visually as well as tonally faithful adaptation of their 2001–2004 Dark Horse series, but you needn’t be aware of that to watch the show.

Superhero stories began as adolescent male power fantasies, where the meekest among us were revealed to have hidden strength that they could use to solve any problem they wanted. Over time, the genre has layered complications on top of that — the angst of Spider-Man, the oppressed minority metaphors of the X-Men — but more often than not, these stories present superherodom as the best possible life. Not "Jessica Jones," though. Her story isn't a power fantasy, but a nightmare. It's a superhero saga as rape survivor tale, where it doesn't matter how strong you are — or even that you can fly like Superman himself — because there will always be someone who can find a way to hurt you and make you feel like less than nothing. The series, which debuts Friday on Netflix (I've seen the first seven episodes), is based on "Alias," a 2001 comic(*) by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos,...

Jessica Jones is the next up in Marvel’s series of Netflix TV shows, and I am beyond excited for it. I was excited for Daredevil, I loved Daredevil, I am excited that there’s going to be more Daredevil; but if possible, I think I may be more excited to see Jessica Jones than I was even to see Vincent D’Onofrio playing the Kingpin. Why? I’ll tell you why.
Jessica Jones is an odd duck in the Marvel universe. When the story opens, she’s not a hero (anymore) and she’s not a villain. She’s tried the hero thing, and has now made the choice to walk away from it. She’s had a horrific traumatic experience, and is now trying to live life on her own terms. In fact, she’s pretty much the Harry Dresden of NYC (without the male gaze and other...

Netflix has gifted the internet with a new peek at one of its highly-anticipated series. The streaming video-on-demand platform dropped the official trailer for Marvel’s Jessica Jones on October 23, 2015.
Based on the early-2000s Marvel comic book series Alias by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, Jessica Jones features Krysten Ritter as the titular character who’s working as a private investigator and trying to hide from the horrors of her superhero past. The two-minutes-30-seconds clip is reminiscent of the dark Daredevil trailer and shows a haunted Jones dealing with the psychological aftermath of her days being mind-controlled by Kilgrave (played by David Tennant). But when the villain shows up again in her life, Jones must work to take him down.

What did we learn about the new Netflix series from Marvel's Jessica Jones trailer? Our Us chums investigate...
The first trailer for Jessica Jones appears almost as mysterious as our title heroine. While Daredevil drew on decades of comic book mythology, and thus was able to pack a ton of fairly recognizable Marvel moments into its first real trailer, Jessica Jones is based on a relatively small handful of stories featuring some of the more obscure characters in Marvel's catalogue.
That being said, if you've read Marvel's Alias comics by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos which are the basis for the Jessica Jones Netflix series (and if you haven't, do yourself a favor and do so immediately) there's lots of familiar moments that get touched on here.
Just in case you haven't seen the trailer, or just want to watch it again, here it is, then we'll start digging deep.

After a batch of different teasers, the full trailer for Marvel and Netflix’s Jessica Jones has arrived. And it promises something dark, brooding, and very different from pretty much anything Marvel has put on screen.Overseen by Melissa Rosenberg and based on Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos’ Alias comic book series, the show features Krysten Ritter as our heroine, Rachael Taylor as Jessica’s closest friend Patricia “Trish” Walker, Mike Colter as friend and sometime love interest Luke “Power Man” Cage (who will be starring in his own series, now in the middle of shooting), Carrie-Ann Moss as the enigmatic Jeryn Hogarth and David Tennant as Zebediah Kilgrave, The Purple Man, a psychic psychopath who has caused so much trouble for Jessica in the past. Jessica had thought he was dead, but she’s oh so very wrong…From the looks of this, the tone is slightly shifted...

Last April's Daredevil series made it clear that Marvel wants to lean on Netflix as the home for all of their "grittier" superhero shows (i.e. not Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and the comic book giant has long promised that Jessica Jones would be an even darker streaming series than their first. Visually speaking, that might be a tall order — Daredevil was so under-lit that many of its scenes were only visible by nerdy lemurs — but an intense new trailer for the superhero drama makes it seem like Marvel plans to make good on their promise.

The first crossover of two of Marvel and Netflix's new properties has just taken place, albeit off screen.
ComiXology and Marvel's own digital comic store have released a new and free twelve-page "Jessica Jones" digital comic which sees the down-on-her-luck private eye teaming with the 'Man without Fear' himself Daredevil for the first time.
In the story she comes face to face with Turk, a criminal whom appeared on "Daredevil" who tells her all about the costumed hero trying to clean up Hell's Kitchen. The comic is penned by the same team behind the 2001 "Alias" comic book series in which the character first appeared - namely writer Brian Michael Bendis, drawer Michael Gaydos and cover art illustrator David Mack.
The issue offers the first real chance to see Jones (Krysten Ritter) in action following in the wake of several teaser trailers for the new series which kicks off November 20th on the streaming service.

Following on from a couple of new teasers for Netflix’s latest dip into the Marvel universe with Jessica Jones, a third short promo for the show that is following Daredevil to screens has dropped. Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica, a woman with super-strength and advanced healing powers who was once a superhero. After a traumatic experience, however, she gave that up and is now making a living as a private eye. Her cases often bring her into contact with those similarly boasting special abilities as well as the usual: cheating spouses, small crimes and missing relatives. In this latest video (which still doesn’t seem to be using Ritter herself as Jessica, or so it seems by the way the face is never seen), we see her taking a shortcut back to work, flying (or rather, jumping) to the fourth-floor fire escape of her apartment/office, where she runs Alias Investigations.
