Juba was born on the 2nd of June 1960 in Nelspruit, South Africa.
Growing up near the Kruger National Park, a strong relationship with, and respect for wildlife was forged. He matriculated in White River in 1978.
After joining the South African Defence Force, he completed his pilot selection successfully in 1979 and became the first in his group in the South African Air Force to qualify as a helicopter pilot, after the Harvard phase. After his Wings Parade, he was subsequently transferred to pilot Puma helicopters in Pretoria, completing the operational course for the Bush War in SWA and Angola.
He served 10 years in the SAAF during most turbulent of conflict. From 1981 - 1987, most of his time was spent being involved in the Bush War of Angola.
Juba then became a founder member of the legendary 31 Squadron, formed in Hoedspruit in 1982, to assist the 5 Recce at Phalaborwa to defend the borders of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Swaziland.
After completing his instructor's qualification on Harvards, in 1990 he joined the Bophuthatswana Defence Force and was an instructor on all helicopter types as well as the PC7 airplane.
Juba became a member of Group73 as the chief pilot in 2014, and continues to be integral in all of the groups events involving operational military style flying. His unmatched knowledge and experience are also vital during the planning and operational phases of Group73's commercial events and tactical advisory.
