Captain America: Brave New World reshoots are currently taking place in Atlanta and it appears another major Marvel character has been added to the movie.
Based on a recent Instagram post from paparazzi Atlanta Filming (who has taken hundreds of the shots we've featured here over the years), it appears Benedict Wong will return as the McU's Sorcerer Supreme, Wong.
This might feel like a strange move, but it makes sense on several levels. For starters, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings revealed that Wong, Bruce Banner, and Captain Marvel seem to regularly meet to discuss threats to Earth-616, so why wouldn't he touch base with the new Captain America?
Then, there's the fact Abomination is now training in Kamar-Taj; he was created by The Leader and could have valuable intel about the villain...heck, he may even show up to help Sam Wilson deal with Red Hulk.

There continues to be a great deal of excitement surrounding Giancarlo Esposito's role in Captain America: Brave New World. While The Mandalorian star has been spotted on set in Atlanta for reshoots, we're still no closer to knowing who he'll play.
Moon Knight villain Bushman remains a likely possibility, though some social media scoopers have said that's not true. However, they also aren't saying who he is playing!
A new set video has found its way online today and despite not offering any additional clues, we see Esposito wielding a gun and seemingly on the hunt. The trades have confirmed he's a villain, so we're guessing Sam Wilson is on his hit list.
Recently, there's been chatter online that fans will likely be disappointed with who the actor has been cast as. In fact, it's being compared to when Robert Redford took on the role of the little-known Alexander Pierce...

One of the most surprising things about Captain America: Brave New World is the fact Sam Wilson will have to match wits with The Leader.
We first met Samuel Sterns in 2008's The Incredible Hulk and learned Bruce Banner's apparent ally had some questionable beliefs when it came to science. That included creating the Abomination and, when Emil Blonsky went on a rampage in Harlem, Sterns got his own dose of Gamma poisoning after a sample of Banner's blood contaminated a wound on his head.
His head started growing and that was the last we saw of Sterns until a tie-in comic (which may or may not be considered "canon") revealed that Black Widow took him into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.

Ever since The Mandalorian and The Boys star Giancarlo Esposito confirmed that he'd been cast in a mystery MCU role, speculation has run wild about who he might be playing.
The actor confirmed he'd debut in a movie before showing up in a Disney+ TV series and set photos have since revealed his big screen project as Captain America: Brave New World. Esposito was enlisted for reshoots and a first look at his unnamed character showed him in tactical gear wielding several knives and what appears to be an axe.
Typically, a set photo like that would make it clear who an actor is playing; as things stand, we're no closer to knowing for sure who the Breaking Bad alum has been cast as. Or are we?
A new rumour is floating around online (we think it's more of a theory than anything) which suggests Esposito is playing Moon Knight villain Bushman.

With reshoots ongoing on Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World, a ton of new set photos have been surfacing online over the past few days and the latest batch reveals star Anthony Mackie ("Sam Wilson/Captain America") suited up in his classic white-and-blue suit from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, essentially reaffirming that he'll be sporting multiple looks in the eagerly-awaited Marvel blockbuster.
As per a recent report, the additional photography isn't expected to be particularly extensive, and should conclude within another week or two. New action sequences were expected to be added, so based on what we're seeing in these photos, it looks like they might be shooting a new opening for the film, where Mackie sports his first Captain America suit.
He'll also wear a wingless blue-and-red suit in the film, something not too dissimilar from Steve Rogers' stealth suit, but it's not yet clear what...

As Captain America: Brave New World undergoes more reshoots, actor Giancarlo Esposito has reportedly joined the cast.
Once set for a July release before being subjected to a lengthy delay, Captain America: Brave New World is currently undergoing a round of reshoots. In the meantime, it’s being reported that Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito has belatedly joined the cast.
Those reshoots are ongoing in Atlanta, Georgia, and will reportedly last for 22 days. Principal photography on the Captain America sequel wrapped over two years ago in spring 2023, but early test screenings prompted Marvel to push its release date back in order for new sequences to be shot.
There have been reports that several major scenes originally filmed have since been edited out, and that the reshoots have been ordered to beef up the action sequences which “were not big or satisfying enough” according to Daniel Richtman's sources.

The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito has finally been spotted on the set of Captain America: Brave New World in full costume. As you'll see in the X post below, his character is packing some serious weaponry!
With three knives on his chest and a large gun (axe?) holstered on his left-hand side, this mystery bad guy looks mighty formidable. Chances are he'll take aim at the McU's new Captain America, but just who the heck is he?
Truthfully, we don't know!
While set photos like this would typically let the cat out of the bag, nothing here identifies Esposito as a specific Marvel character. The actor has said he'll appear in a TV series after this big screen debut, so his playing an assassin - potentially hired by Mayor Wilson Fisk - in Daredevil: Born Again, for example, makes sense.
He could be a grounded version of the Serpent Society's...

Reshoots Notwithstanding, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Will Be Much Cheaper Than ‘The Marvels’
We know that ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ faced many delays. The movie was supposed to come out this year, but early test screenings got very negative feedback. This led to major reshoots, delaying the release by nearly a year. It is now set to come out on February 15, 2025.
The test audiences were reportedly unhappy with the action in the movie, saying it wasn’t as good as in previous Captain America movies. The romance between Anthony Mackie and the female co-lead was uninteresting, and the political themes were boring rather than exciting and engaging.
The movie is now undergoing reshoots in Atlanta, expected to last around 22 days. Matthew Orton was hired to write the script for the reshoots, and some big names have joined the cast, including Giancarlo Esposito in an unknown villain role.
Interestingly, even with extensive reshoots, the movie won’t cost as much as ‘The Marvels...

We know that ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was stuck in a development hell for quite some time. The movie was supposed to be released this year but after early test screenings proved to have overwhelmingly negative feedback, the flick was scheduled for a massive round of reshoots.
This delayed it for close to a year, now it’s set to be released on February 15, 2025.
The test audiences were reportedly unhappy with the action in the movie, considering it subpar when compared to previous Captain America movies. The romance between Anthony Mackie and the female co-lead was flat at best and the political themes of the film weren’t divisive and exciting but boring.
Now the movie is currently undergoing a round of reshoots in Atlanta, and it’s expected that the process will last around 22 days. Matthew Orton was hired to pen the script for the reshoots and some...

Weeks after Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito teased that he’d be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe “sooner than you think,” Variety can confirm that he will appear in “Captain America: Brave New World,” which hits theaters next year.
Esposito revealed he’d been cast in a Marvel project during a panel at Ccxp in Brazil earlier this month. There he squashed fan speculation that he’d play Professor X in the widely expected Marvel Cinematic Universe version of “X-Men.”
“There’s something about being original. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X,” Esposito told the crowd. “Wouldn’t you like to see me play a character in a Marvel movie who is original, and new, and fresh? So, mark my words: This will happen sooner than you think.”

Like many 2024 movies, Captain America: Brave New World was caught up in last year's WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes. Much has been made of plans for reshoots and thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we finally have an idea of what's really happening.
Despite claims that huge chunks of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up are being reshot over several months, the trade confirms this additional photography will last only 22 days.
The plan is to add new action sequences and Julius Onah will remain in the director's chair.
When the strikes ended last November, Captain America: Brave New World moved from July 26, 2024 to February 14, 2025. That reportedly gave Marvel Studios executives additional time to figure out what they wanted from reshoots and to address feedback from test screenings.
As we've previously reported, Moon Knight scribe Matthew Orton was enlisted to write new pages in December and worked on those over the winter.

For anyone worried about the state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this latest news probably isn't going to do much to quell your fears.
The Hollywoood Reporter has news that "Captain America: Brave New World," which will mark the big screen debut of Anthony Mackie as the Sam Wilson version of the star-spangled superhero, will be undergoing 22 days of reshoots. Along with adding new action sequences to the movie, whatever scenes are being reshot will also be bringing a new cast member into the mix.
Giancarlo Esposito, best known for playing the vicious Gus Fring on "Breaking Bad" and Moff Gideon on the "Star Wars" TV series "The Mandalorian," has been cast in what the trade is calling an "undisclosed role," but apparently it will be a villainous role. Since Esposito was not part of the movie's original cast during principal photography, that means that this character is being added...

Giancarlo Esposito has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: Brave New World” in a villain role as reshoots are underway in Atlanta, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.
Esposito had recently hinted in fan press at being involved with a Marvel Studios project, which will apparently spin-off his character into an upcoming Disney+ show.
“The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict,” Esposito said. “It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”
The reshoots are scheduled to last 22 days, which will add some new action sequences to the superhero pic. Previously, Marvel brought on writer Matthew Orton back in December to write new material.

According to THR, Captain America: Brave New World has started a round of reshoots in Atlanta, with none other than Giancarlo Esposito joining the cast.
The report states that the reshoots will run for 22 days, with new action sequences being one of the added elements. As for Esposito, his character is being kept under wraps, but sources told THR that it’s a villainous role. The actor has previously teased his involvement in an upcoming Marvel project, hinting that his character is an original creation and “better than you can imagine.” I suppose we’ll see. Esposito has long been rumoured to be a candidate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with roles such as Professor X brought up as possibilities.

Reshoots for Captain America: Brave New World are now taking place and we have some fairly unrevealing photos from the movie's set. There's no sign of the cast, but a filming permit reveals potential spoilers for Sam Wilson's first solo outing.
The plan is to shoot an action sequence that will see Sam's car stopped by police using spike traps. A shootout follows, with one of the cops taking a bullet and the hero's car eventually exploding.
A hand-to-hand fight will follow, meaning we hopefully get something akin to Captain America: The Winter Soldier's memorable action scenes.
The new Captain America going on the run from the police has already been rumoured, though it sounds like this is either a replacement or addition to a sequence in the CinemaCon trailer with Sam being stopped by the authorities in Washington D.C.

Captain America: Brave New World is less than a year away from hitting theaters and, if we're really lucky, a trailer might be attached to Deadpool & Wolverine later this summer.
In the meantime, a new still from the movie has started doing the rounds on social media - seemingly from Empire - which features Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), director Julius Onah, and Xosha Roquemore's mystery character.
Cap is suited up and appears to be in a war room. As for Roquemore, it's previously been reported that she's playing Leila Taylor. Introduced in 1971 and created by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr., she was Sam Wilson's girlfriend but faded into obscurity in the early 2000s.
On the page, Leila was a journalist who fought for equal rights and eventually worked for The Daily Bugle. This version looks like she might work for the CIA or be a Secret Service agent,...

On the page, Leila was a journalist who fought for equal rights and eventually worked for The Daily Bugle. This version looks like she might work for the CIA or be a Secret Service agent,...

Avengers: Endgame ended with Steve Rogers passing the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson. Two years later in 2021, we caught up with the hero in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, learning he'd declined Steve's offer (meaning John Walker took his place).
By the time the finale rolled around, Sam had decided to wield the shield and did so in style. Four years after that series hit Disney+, we'll next see the former Falcon take centre stage in Captain America: Brave New World.
After Happy Meal toys, leaked promo art, and more, we finally have an official look at Sam suited up courtesy of Empire Online. The suit looks good here, but many fans have already argued that it's a step back from what we wore in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Captain America: Brave New World was originally set to be released today, May 3, 2024. Instead, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace is being re-released in theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary, an outcome we know many of you will be disappointed by.
While Marvel Studios has managed to push back many of the movie's promotional tie-ins, it seems nothing can stop McDonald's. As a result, Captain America: Brave New World Happy Meal toys are now out in the wild.
That's meant heaps of promo art finding its way online and, today, we can follow that up with a very intriguing rumour.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, the movie will indeed feature the introduction of Adamantium, the virtually indestructible metal substance best known for coasting Wolverine's bones (a result of Weapon X's experiments on the mutant hero).
We've previously heard that the remains of the frozen Celestial Tiamut will be the source...

Captain America: Brave New World is nine months away from swooping into theaters, but more promo art has surfaced today which reveals that Sam Wilson will don a helmet in the movie.
Given how perfect Sam's Captain America suit in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was, there's already been some disappointment among fans that the hero is now basically wearing his Falcon goggles with Steve Rogers' old suit.
This headgear is another big departure and doesn't look that different from Ant-Man's helmet. However, we see a breathing tube which suggests Sam will wear this during a high-altitude battle of some sort.
There's also a nod to Captain America's "A" on the helmet, though it's relatively subtle.
Marvel Studios runs the risk of this feeling like The Falcon wearing Captain America's suit, and the pressure is on to deliver here with Captain America: Brave New World having to follow in...

We've had a pretty good idea that Captain America: Brave New World would feature the MCU debut of Red Hulk for a while now, but we recently got confirmation thanks to some McDonald's Happy Meal Toys!
Not an ideal way to get a first look at the rampaging red monster, but the plush toys weren't exactly detailed. Now, thanks to some new promo art, we finally have a proper look at the character design.
The artwork isn't the clearest, but it still gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from Brave New World's take on the transformed General President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford). And no, it doesn't look like he's going to grow the 'stache back when he changes!

Thanks to last year's strikes, Captain America: Brave New World is one of many 2024 movies now not heading our way until next year.
A few pieces of merchandise have started showing up here and there, though most of it will have been pushed back to coincide with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier sequel's new release date.
Still, it seems nothing will mess up McDonald's Happy Meal schedule as Captain America: Brave New World toys are starting to show up in restaurants across the U.S. As well as a closer look at Red Hulk, we see Diamondback sporting a comic-accurate costume and using the same diamond tips as the version seen on the page.
With rumours swirling that the Serpent Society has been cut from the movie, this may be all we see of her.
The bigger reveal below is new promo art of Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson suited up as Captain America.

The latest footage from CinemaCon showcased some plot points. The clip reveals Sam Wilson meeting President Thunderbolt Ross at the White House, where Ross proposes reuniting the Avengers under a new Captain America. However, there are hints of Ross having ulterior motives. Chaos erupts during a meeting when a mysterious villain takes control, leading to action-packed scenes including Sam defending himself against Secret Service agents. It looks like there is more bad news in store for Marvel fans and fans of Captain America. After extensive reshoots and cutting away major scenes, Captain America: Brave New World still seems to have issues. The Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford starrer has been in the making since 2022 and will be released on February 10, 2025.
The film is set to build on the events of the Disney Plus series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America. The film recently debuted some footage at CinemaCon which showed Ford’s Thaddeus Ross as well. However, industry insider Jeff Sneider mentioned that all was not good in the movie.

Fanboys will have to wait until San Diego Comic Con to see footage from Marvel Studios’ 2025 release Captain America: Brave New World, but exhibitors do not. On Thursday during Disney’s closing CinemaCon session, the studio showed off the new Anthony Mackie movie that picks up after the events of the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In that series, Sam Wilson takes over the shield left behind by the late Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige called the film “a grounded politically thriller” onstage of Caesars Palace at the Colosseum before introducing Mackie.
Mackie shared how he started in these movies 10 years ago, and loved how he’s now “starring in my own Marvel movie.” Mackie didn’t delay and introduced the footage.
In the clip, Harrison Ford’s Potus wants Sam Wilson to rebuild the Avengers. He’s impressed what the hero did down in Mexico.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is highly anticipated in the MCU lineup. Like many other films and shows, its development was affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike, but it’s back on track now.
There was an expectation of some delay, especially after ‘Captain America 4’ switched release dates with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. Now, it’s set to release on February 15, 2025, after nearly a year’s delay. However, it was later revealed that significant reshoots and rewrites were necessary due to poor initial test screening results.
Now, the Atlanta_filming Instagram account, known for sharing paparazzi and leaked content, has posted a picture of a baseball cap featuring the number 4. The caption reads: “This starts May 26th. Don’t ask… just think about it.”

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is one of the most anticipated MCU projects. Like plenty of other movies & shows, the development was put back on track following the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Everybody expected that the movie would be at least somewhat delayed. Initially ‘Captain America 4’ switched dates with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ until being delayed for almost a year, now bound to be released on February 15, 2025.
It was only later that we’ve found out that the movie was undergoing significant reshoots and rewrites due to the bad results the initial test screening got from the audiences.

Several MCU projects got back on track after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended. “Deadpool & Wolverine” and Ssu’s “Venom: The Last Dance” completed reshoots and are set to release this year. “Deadpool & Wolverine” even has a trailer out already. However, “Captain America: Brave New World” faced significant setbacks. It was delayed for a year and needed extensive reshoots and rewrites due to disappointing test screenings.
Reportedly, the story underwent major changes. One minor villain group, the Serpent Society, was completely removed from the film. Initial reports suggested the movie had problems with action scenes not meeting the standards set by previous “Captain America” films. However, insider Oh How I Marvel At Those Marvels provided more details. They mentioned issues with the action, chemistry between the leads, and the movie’s political messages.

Among the upcoming slate of MCU projects, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ stands out as the most concerning with its challenging development journey. With the breathing room given by its delay to 2025, the next Captain America film is going through a few changes before it arrives in cinemas.
Marvel Studios are looking to have an interesting 2024.
With just one film coming out of the studio for the first time since 2010 (when Iron Man 2 arrived as the MCU was still finding its feet), from the outside it looks like Feige and co. are pulling the breaks on the ‘content’ machine a little bit.

In the realm of upcoming Marvel projects, many faced delays due to the historic 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike that recently concluded, disrupting Hollywood productions. Amidst these challenges, the fourth installment in the Captain America series, ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ encountered issues not directly linked to the strike.
Initially, the film swapped release dates with ‘Deadpool 3’ as it was only halfway through production when the strike hit. Rumors later circulated about additional reshoots prompted by less-than-satisfactory test screenings and underwhelming action sequences compared to previous series entries.
Marvel Studios has now enlisted screenwriter Matthew Orton, according to Deadline, known for his work on ‘Operation Finale,’ ‘Devil’s Peak,’ and the successful Disney+ series ‘Moon Knight,’ to handle the reshoots. The additional round is scheduled for spring-summer 2024. Despite the setback, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ won’t hit screens in 2024; its release was pushed to February 14, 2025, pending successful reshoots.

In a sea of upcoming projects based on Marvel characters, several of them have been severely delayed and affected by the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that only recently ended after paralyzing productions in Hollywood for 118 days. But, one MCU project seemingly had problems that weren’t so directly connected to the strike, the upcoming fourth installment in the Captain America series.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ initially switched release dates with ‘Deadpool 3’ since the movie was only halfway done when the strike began. But then rumors resurfaced that ‘Captain America’ is undergoing another round of reshoots, allegedly due to test screenings being less than satisfactory. More recently, additional details resurfaced that, apparently, action filmed so far was underwhelming when compared to previous installments in the series.

Marvel Studios is trying to recover from its current run of bad luck. While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was a bright spot for the brand, the underperformance of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the low ratings for Secret Invasion, the Jonathan Majors controversy, the Daredevil: Born Again overhaul, and the low box office of The Marvels, the year showing the studio juggernaut in a vulnerability it hasn’t found itself in before. In fact, the behind-the-scenes drama used to be an ongoing issue at its comic rival, DC at Warner Bros. It was even reported last month that Anthony Mackie’s promotion to Captain America with Captain America: Brave New World was having poor test screenings and had planned some reshoots to fix whatever wasn’t working.

Marvel Studios has added screenwriter Matthew Orton to the production of “Captain America: Brave New World,” ahead of the superhero sequel’s plans for additional photography sometime in the spring.
The Walt Disney Company announced a series of delays to its theatrical release slate shortly after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Along with “Deadpool 3,” “Thunderbolts” and “Blade,” “Brave New World” was among the group of Marvel productions impacted, moving from a July 26, 2024 date to Feb. 14, 2025. That’s almost seven more months for the studio to work on the fourth “Captain America” film, which had already completed principal photography prior to the actors strike. Reshoots are a commonplace practice for blockbuster tentpoles, particularly Marvel productions.
Orton’s previous credits include the World War II thriller “Operation Finale” and TV work on “Devil’s Peak” and Marvel’s Disney+ series “Moon Knight.” Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman have screenplay credits...
