Actor Michelle Rodriguez knew what it was like to play action stars after doing a feature like Girlfight. She looked forward to seeing another actor lace up boxing gloves in Clint Eastwood’d Million Dollar Baby. But although she enjoyed the film to a point, she felt it eventually let down her expectations.

Warning: Spoilers for ‘Million Dollar Baby’ is in this article
One of the reasons why Rodriguez was excited about seeing Million Dollar Baby was because it reminded her of her very first movie. Rodriguez got her breakthrough role doing Girlfight. There, she played a high school student trying to channel her aggression by becoming a boxer. She noticed the role by checking out Backstage magazine on a whim.

Actor Charlize Theron joined Vin Diesel’s blockbuster Fast and Furious franchise. In a famous sequence during the movie, Theron and Diesel are shown being intimate with each other. But Theron didn’t seem as proud of the scene as Diesel was.

Diesel had high praise for Theron’s involvement in the Fate of the Furious franchise. She’s been a fixture of the franchise ever since being cast in the role of Cypher. At the time, Diesel considered Theron a big selling point of the movie. The trailers leading up to the film showed a seemingly villainous Dom Toretto making out with Theron’s character, which Diesel felt generated interest.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter reported that cinephiles were sharing “samizdat” links to Woody Allen’s latest film Coup de Chance from a French-to-Dutch-to-English translation, and New Yorkers were attending clandestine screenings at an East Village bar/event space. Today, THR can exclusively report that those who wish to see the 88-year-old’s latest project, which debuted at the Venice Film Festival in early September to (mostly) positive reviews, can do so without slinking around or needing secret codes.
MPI Media Group will release the picture, Allen’s 50th theatrically released feature film as a director, for North American markets on April 5, 2024. A digital/VOD release will follow on April 12.
The movie, shot in France in French, stars Lou de Laâge (Respire, The Mad Woman’s Ball) as a self-aware trophy wife who reconnects with an old chum from the Lycée Français in New York, played by Niels Schneider (Heartbeats,...

Over-the-top action sequences. Bone-crunching fights between titans of the action genre. A popular horror director getting his chance to make a massive-budget blockbuster. Fast & Furious 7 (watch it Here) brings all of those elements to the table. But it’s primarily remembered for being a production that was disrupted by tragedy. And we’re going to look into how it all played out in this episode of Revisited.
Universal Pictures doesn’t have a lot of major blockbuster franchises. In 2012, Jurassic Park had been dormant for a decade and the Bourne Identity movies had lost Jason Bourne. So they really only had Fast and Furious. It makes sense that while they were sending the sixth movie out into the world,...

I am not a gearhead, so I have always looked at the Fast and the Furious franchise from a distance. But their popularity makes them hard to avoid. Fast X, the tenth installment in the series, arrives on disc and streaming this week from Universal Home Entertainment and no doubt entertains those who have been there from the beginning.
As with any franchise with multiple chapters, there’s the core set of characters and then all the supporting players who drop in and out of these chapters as needed. And, to keep things interesting, new players are added, usually the antagonist and maybe a new ally or frenemy.
Here, we have the sociopathic Dante (Jason Momoa) seeking vengeance on Dom (Vin Diesel) for the death of his father (Joaquim de Almeida) a decade earlier, as depicted in Fast Five. With seemingly limitless cash and men at his disposal, he has...

As FX’s Mayans M.C. wraps its final season tonight, Deadline has your exclusive look at the penultimate day of filming in Santa Clarita, California.
As the sets were being broken down to make way for a new production in the future, series co-creator Elgin James celebrated Crew Appreciation Day alongside stars J.D. Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Carla Baratta, Emilio Rivera, Sarah Bolger, J.R. Bourne, Edward James Olmos, Gino Vento, Emily Tosta, Andrew Jacobs and Alex Barone. Maverick James who played Maverick Reyes, son of Adelita (Baratta) and Angel (Cardenas), was also part of the celebration as was Baratta’s son Diego who was inside her belly during the show’s second season and was worked into the storyline.
For the festivities, the grounds were colorfully decorated and food trucks were serving the hungry and excited masses. Pardo and Rivera hosted a raffle giving away kuttes from both Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.

FX Mayans M.C. season five episode nine – the series’ penultimate episode – serves up one of the most devastating deaths of its entire run…thus far. No one is safe as Ez continues to wage war with the Sons of Anarchy.
Episode nine, “I Must Go in Now For the Fog is Rising,” begins with Bottles (Alex Barone) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) silent as they ride back to town in the back of a stranger’s pickup truck. Witnessing the destruction of Santo Padre’s cookhouse at the Broken Saints ranch weighs heavy on their minds as they head back to the clubhouse.
Sofia (Andrea Cortés) wakes and leaves Ez (Jd Pardo) in bed with Sally when suddenly Sally barks in alarm. Ez grabs his gun, responding to pounding on his door.

Welp, we're getting to the end of Mayans M.C., and that can only mean one thing:
Death, death, and more death.
Mayans M.C. Season 5 Episode 9 is the FX hit's penultimate chapter, and the official promo hints at Ez's luck running out.
"As the Sons close in on the Mayans, Ez crosses paths with a familiar stranger," the logline teases for the episode written by Jenny Lynn and directed by Elgin James.
After the events of Mayans M.C. Season 5 Episode 8, we should prepare for E.Z.'s downfall.
The Broken Saints have been lured into E.Z.'s plans, but their home has been destroyed after Letty spilling all about their operation to Isaac.
If you watch Mayans M.C. online, you know the Broken Saints have long relied on doing things for themselves.
They didn't want to be indebted to anyone, but E.Z.'s warmth and understanding fooled Johnny Panic...

One of the brightest spots of Mayans M.C. Season 5 has been the bond between Letty and Hope.
Despite the odds, they've somehow managed to thrive and survive the most harrowing encounters.
Their luck ran out on Mayans M.C. Season 5 Episode 8, and it's heartbreaking to see this bond come to such a violent conclusion.
They were bonded by the grief of Coco's death and carved out this unbreakable bond, but it was only a matter of time before the perils of their world ruined everything.
Letty's mission to unearth all of the secrets of the Broken Saints to trade for Hope's life was grueling.
On the one hand, she was ruining the lives of all these women, but on the other, she could save Hope's life -- or so she thought.
Isaac has proven to be one of the most despicable characters in TV history, and that's no easy feat...

Still haven’t recovered from FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven? Neither have I. But buckle up because episode eight – “Her Blacks Crackle and Drag” – doesn’t let up. The episode finds the Mayans saying goodbye to Creeper, Angel lost without Adelita, and Hope taking drastic measures to ensure Isaac can never hurt her or Letty again.
But, most importantly, the episode’s explosive ending might spell the end of Ez’s short reign over the prisons.
Episode eight opens with Downer (Angel Oquendo) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) transporting the dead bodies of Diaz and Jinx. Guero’s justifiably worried after killing Oakland’s president in cold blood, which forced Bishop to take out the VP. But Downer assures him the club knows why he did it. It wasn’t a smart move,...

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven says goodbye to two major, longtime players as we head into the final stretch of episodes. Plus, Ibarra’s son finally exacts his revenge at the most inopportune time.
But it’s the gut-wrenching deaths of two key Mayans M.C. characters that make episode seven so heartbreaking.

As theatrical release windows get shorter, the latest example is the recent sequel to the chaotic car series Fast X, as it makes its way onto digital release today. Fast X is the start of a planned two-part finale (although the studio now wants more), and Fast X – Part 2 is set to conclude the war between Dom and Dante. Vin Diesel has recently taken to his Instagram to tease the next installment with concept art and announced the release date of Part 2 to be set for April 4, 2025.
The concept art features two female characters bundled up in cold weather fatigues as they lay exhausted on the frozen tundra. A second pic features one of the characters walking to a grounded helicopter. Fast X featured a subplot in which Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and Cipher (Charlize Theron) escape a facility in Antarctica. The photos imply a continuation of this plot; however, the...

Dating back to the “Sons of Anarchy” years, the universe that “Mayans M.C.” lives in is overrun with big, macho biker guys. But there are also such great female characters. These women are often more badass and capable than their male counterparts. And we see that quite a bit in Season 5, especially in the character of Letty, played by Emily Tosta. And in this episode of Templo Talk: A Mayans M.C.

The net is closing in, and everyone is feeling the heat.
Mayans M.C. Season 5 Episode 3 confirmed my suspicions that Mayans M.C. Season 5 is going out with some of the darkest storylines in franchise history.
We'll start with the good. Emily and Ez's meeting in the park had some nice callbacks to Mayans M.C. Season 1, but it also highlighted the distance between them.
Once upon a time, they were an endgame 'ship. Oh, how things have changed in a matter of years.
If you watch Mayans M.C. online, you know they share a storied history, but something tells me the park was their final meeting.
I appreciated how they both recognized the other was battling something they may be unable to win.
Emily knows her back is against the wall here. Miguel isn't going to allow her out of his sight with their son.
The best-case scenario is that Emily can...

For over two decades now, the Fast Saga_, trashing the ancient city of Rome with a giant flaming bomb.
But, the thing with going a quarter-mile at a time is, sometimes you realise you’ve gone a quarter-mile in the wrong direction – and a quick fix is needed to keep everything just about on-course. Through the Fast & Furious franchise, characters have been brought back from the dead, timelines have shifted around, destinies have been rewritten, and never-spoken-of siblings have come to light, all in the service of – as Vin Diesel once so wisely put it – the movies. So, in honour of Fast X hitting the big screen – with yet more characters who are blood relations of familiar faces, people you thought were long dead, and revisiting of scenes from previous films – strap in for a Nos-boosted tour through the Saga’s most spectacular (and spectacularly stupid) rewrites.

If anyone knows the musical world of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, it’s composer Brian Tyler. Over the years, he’s created themes and cues for Dom (Vin Diesel), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Cipher (Charlize Theron), and with “Fast X” he gets to dabble with Jason Momoa’s brilliant baddie, Dante.
“Instead of creating a dark energy theme, I went for alluring,” Tyler says.
In the film, Dante seeks to avenge his father’s death, Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida) from 2011’s “Fast Five.” Dante lures the Fast Family to Rome, which leads to an action-packed chase through the cobbled streets of the Eternal City as Dom, Letty and their crew attempt to stop Dante from blowing up the Vatican. “Dante is charming and he makes you laugh. So, I used high strings such as the harp, and then we get into bass music with modern instruments,” says Tyler. “It...

The actors in the "Fast and Furious" franchise are big stars, sure, but the cars in the long-running saga aren't very far behind. They're characters all on their own. In advance of the upcoming "Fast X," I recently got a chance to visit a garage in Los Angeles to chat with Dennis McCarthy, longtime car supervisor for all the "Fast and Furious" films starting with "Tokyo Drift." He took us on a tour of a few of the featured cars and motorcycles in the upcoming sequel, and told us a few stories about the shoot and the franchise as a whole.
Dante's Harley
First up on the tour were the cars and bikes that we'll see in the first part of the film, which is set in Rome. We were shown the Harley Davidson Pan American, which is ridden by Dante (Jason Momoa) in the film. According to McCarthy,...

Michelle Rodriguez is a notable and influential figure in the film industry due to her portrayal of tough street racer Letty in the Fast & Furious franchise. With the continuous expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans keep wondering if Michelle Rodriguez will eventually join the MCU. This has initiated conversations about what roles could be perfect for her. As Hollywood is evolving, the concept of shared universes is becoming increasingly common, and the MCU is a fair example of this as it connects different movie franchises and comic book characters seamlessly. This means the casting season at the MCU...

Hollywood can be seen as an industry that's constantly racing after a seemingly impossible goal, a finish line that always remains just out of sight: what is the best way to make a repeatable success? What is the formula that creates a successful franchise? How does one live life a quarter-mile at a time?
It turns out that the "Fast & Furious" franchise may have held the answers this entire time: Family, Love, Respect, and Earnestness are the pillars on which this improbably continuing series is built, and no matter how many criticisms, witticisms, or post-ironic judgments are tossed at it, the sheer open-hearted emotion that's present within the films and the characters seem to win out every time.
That near-assured victory looked dubious for the upcoming latest installment of the series, "Fast X,' when original director Justin Lin stepped down at the beginning of shooting, leaving Louis Leterrier to take his place.

The budget has ballooned to $340 million over the course of production, thanks to Covid-19 protocols, the original director Justin Lin quitting a week into filming, and a massive ensemble cast whose total wage bill now stands at $100 million. (Vin Diesel alone accounts for a fifth of that.)
It probably doesn't help that the cast just keeps growing with every new installment. This is going to take a while, bear with me. In addition to Diesel as Dom Toretto, there's Michelle Rodriguez as his wife Letty Ortiz, Tyrese Gibson as the wisecracking Roman Pearce, Ludacris and Nathalie Emmanuel as tech experts Tej Parker and Ramsey respectively, Jordana Brewster as Dom's sister Mia Toretto, Helen Mirren as militia leader Magdalene Shaw,...
