Fans of the Power franchise are losing Ghost again — but this time, it’s the series.
Starz has canceled Power Book II: Ghost, with the show’s fourth season to serve as its last. It will be broken into two parts, premiering June 7 and September 6. Watch the teaser above.
The move was prefaced by Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch this week when he revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive.
Using the Power franchise as an example, he said: “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘Ok, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.’ Now I’m putting a lot of money right to the bottom line. And I’m really not losing anything in terms of acquisition costs and subscriber viewership,...

Starz's Power Universe has been responsible for a lot of great things over the years: iconic characters, explosive spinoffs (and a prequel), and one of the most captivating franchises in television history. Perhaps the best of them all is the friendship it birthed between two of its biggest stars: Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo.
The "Power Book II: Ghost" actors first met during season five filming of their parent series, a crime drama about a man living a double life as a businessman and drug dealer. The Starz staple ran for six seasons before Rainey Jr. and Paolo were tapped to lead the franchise's first spinoff. As the two have previously recalled, their "Power" friendship wasn't instantaneous at all. In fact, they barely spoke on their first day on set together outside of their scenes. But as they tell Popsugar, something truly "organic" followed suit shortly thereafter.

Before tumbling off her Lamborghini tractor, Sza looks incredible. A strip-club veteran, she gives her leading man, Justin Bieber, something close to a lap dance, perched on this piece of lawn equipment as he drives it. Flanked by cameramen, she twists her torso and sings her latest hit single, “Snooze,” to him as she sits on the hood. In one take, she puts her hands on the hood and ass fully in the air, with no spotter or soft ground to catch her should she fall.

Sza and Justin Bieber may have failed at romance in the official video for the former’s hit single, “Snooze,” but now, the two have reconnected to bring the song to life in a whole new way. “Snooze” first debuted in December 2022 as the eighth track on Sza’s sophomore studio album, Sos. Desperation often leads to violence when someone’s back is against the wall. Humans are animals, and when cornered, they’ll lash out, throwing caution to the win as part of a fight or flight response. In Lionsgate‘s Desperation Road trailer, a mother protects herself against a corrupted officer of the law, leading to gunfire, bewilderment, and a snap decision to flee the scene. Mistakes can catch up to the best of us, and secrets unravel easily when the past comes back to haunt you.
“In a small Mississippi town, justice and the law are two very different things,” reads the official synopsis for Desperation Road. “Academy Award Winner Mel Gibson, Garret Hedlund, and Willa Fitzgerald star in a modern noir thriller based on the acclaimed novel by Michael Farris Smith about two lost souls tortured by the mistakes of their past and bound by a secret that keeps them running.

Sza has shared a new music video for “Snooze,” which portrays a “multiverse” of romantic relationships with Justin Bieber, actors Woody McClain (Power Book II: Ghost) and Young Mazino (Beef), and hitmaker Benny Blanco.
Directed by Bradley J. Calder, the clip features our previous cover star falling in and out of love with her co-stars in the video. In the opening scene, the Tde singer goes on a picnic with Bieber before they head over to her bedroom to share a joint. Then, we get a glimpse at her romances with McClain and Mazino. Sza has dropped a darkly comedic and surreal video for “Snooze,” which chronicles the rise and fall of five romantic relationships between Sza and characters played by popstar Justin Bieber, actors Woody McClain and Young Mazino, star producer/songwriter Benny Blanco — and a robot in a fitted cap. Sza’s new music video for her hit “Snooze” will keep you awake: It features cameo appearances by Justin Bieber, Beef actor Young Mazino, Power Book II: Ghost star Woody McClain and songwriter-producer Benny Blanco.
Sza released the video Friday, which features the famous men playing her love interests. The pairs are shown doing everything from lying on the grass in the park and rolling a joint in bed to feeding horses and arguing with her man (McClain) while he plays video games. Sza directed the clip with Bradley J. Calder.
Sza and Bieber have yet to collaborate musically, but the singer and wife Hailey Bieber enjoyed a date night in March at Sza’s Los Angeles concert. Mazino is a rising star who recently earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for Beef, while McClain’s credits include The Harder They Fall,...

Karma comes back to bite in "Power Book II: Ghost" season three as yet another major character meets their end. In episode five, "No More Second Chances," Lorenzo (Berto Colón) meets his inevitable end after his wife, Monet (Mary J. Blige), finally avenges her son Zeke's death by getting back at his actual killer. The Tejada patriarch may have thought he was in the clear after he framed a Tgt gang member for Zeke's murder, whom Monet killed previously, but all his lies eventually catch up to him - and an unexpected family member (that's not Monet) turns out to be responsible for his tragic demise.
As viewers know, Lorenzo's fate has been decided since "Power Book II"'s action-packed season two finale, as he accidentally murders Zeke by mistaking him for Monet's ex, Mecca (Daniel Sunjata). Lorenzo's oldest son, Cane (Woody McClain), eventually figures out what he did, and...

Exclusive: Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., the rising actor best known for starring in the hit Starz series Bmf (or Black Mafia Family), has signed with M88 for management.
The show inspired by a true story has Flenory playing his own father, notorious hip-hop icon and kingpin Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory Sr., who with his brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi) rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s to give birth to one of the most influential crime families in the country.
The project from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, which is heading into its third season, marks the younger Flenory’s acting debut. And despite his unusually intimate connection to the story, he only won his role following a highly competitive casting process, and more than a year spent in intensive acting training.

The Power Universe loves to occasionally sprinkle in Easter eggs, and in the fourth episode of "Power Book II: Ghost"'s third season, longtime "Power" viewers spotted a familiar face - someone who could become a game changer later in the series.
In the episode, titled "The Land of Opportunity," we meet a DEA agent named Angel "Junior" Young (Kevin Rodriguez), who's aiding Detective Blanca's (Monique Gabriela Curnen) latest investigation. The two are shown at a crime-scene aftermath of a motel shootout between the Tejada clan - Lorenzo (Berto Colon), Cane (Woody McClain), and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) - and some arms dealers, one of whom happens to be a criminal informant for Blanca. Junior makes a brief appearance as he explains to Blanca that her C.I. has been shot and transported to a hospital and is in critical condition. Another week, another major player on "Power Book II: Ghost" meets a tragic fate - though many viewers probably saw this one coming. This time, the hit "Power" spinoff bid farewell to the nuisance that is Detective Kevin Whitman (Jeff Hephner) after he overstepped his boundaries one too many times with Monet (Mary J. Blige).
Ever since the death of Monet's nephew son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy), Whitman has been hot on her tracks trying to pin a murder on her that he thinks she committed, aka Carrie Milgram's (which she committed for sleeping around with Zeke). Note: Carrie and Whitman have history together, too. The third season premiere of Power Book II: Ghost drew the biggest opening weekend audience ever for a Starz series, the premium cable outlet says.
The show’s March 17 debut brought in 5.8 million viewers across all platforms over its first three days, according to Nielsen and internal data. That makes it the biggest premiere weekend ever for a Starz original series.
Though Starz didn’t break down viewers by platform, based on viewing patterns for other premium series, a large majority of the audience likely streamed the Ghost premiere. The show’s on-air premiere brought in 362,000 viewers, per Nielsen — just 6 percent of the three-day total. That’s in keeping with shows like HBO’s Euphoria, Showtime’s Yellowjackets, and Starz’s own P-Valley, whose initial, on-air viewership makes up just a small fraction of the total.
The 5.8 million viewers also includes multiple replays on the Starz cable channel over the weekend.

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from the Season 3 premiere of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.
Power Book II: Ghost dropped its third season premiere on Friday titled “Your Perception, Your Reality” and as expected, it’s filled with sadness and frustration following the tragic events of last season.
Monet (Mary J. Blige) is really going through it following the murder of her son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy). She’s lost her way and healing can only begin by her avenging his death—an eye for an eye. Being that her husband Lorenzo (Berto Colon) shot down Zeke accidentally in a case of mistaken identity, things are plenty complicated.
In the meantime, Monet is so enveloped in grief that she neither notices the internal struggle going on in the family nor that there’s a new baddie in town named Noma (Caroline Chikezie) who is searching for...

Surprise, "Power Book II: Ghost" fans - Lauren is back! Well, technically, according to season three's March 17 premiere, she never actually left. As viewers may remember, Lauren (played by Paige Hurd) was thought to have been killed off by Effie (Alix Lapri) and Brayden (Gianni Paolo) in season two's penultimate episode. After it's discovered that she's working with Ada Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) and catches Brayden, her boyfriend, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), and Cane (Woody McClain) talking about their drug dealings on a wire, Effie and Brayden, unbeknownst to Tariq, take Lauren out to the woods to kill her - all in an effort to avoid criminal charges.
Though viewers didn't see Hurd's character actually die, many believed that scene marked the end of the road for her, with Jenny later revealing that Lauren's body was found by locals after a "car accident." That turns out to be a complete lie,...

The Tejada family is reeling from a major loss in "Power Book II: Ghost" season three, but Monet only has one thing on her mind: revenge. The cold-hearted queenpin's (Mary J. Blige) world shattered to pieces in season two's shocking finale when her nephew son Zeke was shockingly killed by Monet's husband, Lorenzo (Berto Colon), unbeknownst to her. Now she's only concerned with hunting down the person who took her firstborn away. But Blige tells Popsugar that her character's blind-revenge mission in season three, which premiered on March 17, will only put her "in a place where it compromises everything" later down the line.
It's clear that Monet's grief journey this season affects everyone around her, including her three kids - Cane (Woody McClain), Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray), and Diana (Latoya Tonodeo) - but especially Diana, who unknowingly set off the chain of events that led to Zeke's tragic death.
