Han van Meegeren was born on 10 October 1889 in Deventer, Overijssel, Netherlands. He died on 30 December 1947 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.
Dutch artist who rose to international infamy after he confessed to forging several paintings in the style of Johannes Vermeer and other Dutch Old Masters. One of his fakes ended up in the collection of Hermann Göring.
