Wonder Woman is one character that has stayed constant throughout her several iterations. Serving as the equilibrium force of the Justice League, her character has become iconic for several different reasons. Being one of the first female superheroes to become prominent in mainstream media, she became a cultural icon for many. Wonder Woman has inspired several similar characters and has also brought female readers and viewers into the genre.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
Gal Gadot’s portrayal of the character seems to have become just as iconic, doing an excellent job as Princess Diana. While her version of the character does stand out in more ways than one, it would seem that her story could have been a lot different had it not been for another version of her.

The year began, as they usually do, with so much promise. This was, after all, supposed to be the year that DC came roaring back, with Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the long-awaited The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Marvel had its own big slate. We were to be in a Shangri-La of screen superheroes. Yet in the end, it appeared the comic book movies failed audiences.
Or did they? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, based on comics from the 1980s, is one of the top animated movies of the year. David Fincher’s stylish The Killer is based on a French graphic novel. And of course, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, is a towering achievement even beyond the medium of animation.
In other corners, movies based on toys, for the most part, are looked down upon and are considered jokes. But here, too, 2023 surprised us.

At a press event on Monday, January 30th, new DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran welcomed media to the Warner Bros. lot to the future of the new DC Universe. The new direction includes a fresh Superman film written by Gunn, a new introduction to the Batman family, a Wonder Woman TV prequel series, and much more.
Gunn and Safran met with a writer’s room that included Drew Goddard (The Martian), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), Christina Hobson, Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Tom King. “We sat down in a room for a few days and we started to bash out what the basic overall plan could be,” said Gunn. “Not so much that it ties your wrists, but enough that we know what the basic story is, where we’re going. And it’s something that we’ll continue to do.”

A tempest has come to the island of Themyscira. The Hollywood Reporter broke the surprising news late Wednesday that the third Gal Gadot-led “Wonder Woman” film, meant to be directed by series stalwart Patty Jenkins, is not happening. This is the biggest shakeup under the DC Comics umbrella of movies at Warner Bros. Discovery since CEO David Zaslav put James Gunn and Peter Safran in charge of DC Studios. Let’s hope nobody put a down payment on a new house!
The 2017 “Wonder Woman,” which starred Gadot and Chris Pine, was a massive international hit, bringing in well over 800 million in global tickets. What’s more, it was a critical success, with 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and even a stamp of approval from Gloria Steinem.
The sequel, “Wonder Woman 1984,” however, was a bit of a disaster, inspiring mocking memes and general confusion. Its box office stats are hard to glean,...
