We hope you enjoyed your stay at the Continental, because there's a lot more where that came from. The world of "John Wick" is set to expand with a new prequel series titled "The Continental" that has high hopes of recapturing the same magic that turned the Keanu Reeves-starring quadrilogy into the breakout hit that it became. From the humble beginnings of the relatively self-contained and low-budget 2014 film, the series has since risen to greater and greater heights on the big screen.
It'll have its work cut out for it, given that franchise icons Reeves, Ian McShane, and the late, great Lance Reddick will be nowhere to be seen. In their places will be a new cast of characters, though some will be playing younger versions of very familiar faces. Actor Colin Woodell has been cast to fill the enormous shoes left by McShane as Winston Scott, the fresh-faced manager...

‘The Continental’ Trailer Promises Plenty of ‘John Wick’-Adjacent Thrills in Peacock Prequel (Video)
Ready to return to the world of “John Wick?”
While the dog-loving assassin played by Keanu Reeves shuffled off the mortal coil earlier this year in “John Wick: Chapter 4,” the saga is alive and well, with the prequel series “The Continental: From the World of John Wick” debuting this fall on Peacock. The three-night event has all of the colorful villains, gratuitous bloodshed and rich mythology you’ve come to expect from the series, with a fresh 1970s New York setting that sheds some light on some of your favorite characters.
And you can watch the brand-new trailer above. It’s killer.
“The Continental” follows Winston Scott, played here by Colin Woodell and portrayed by Ian McShane in the “John Wick” movies, who is called back to New York from London by the Continental’s brutish hotel manager Cormac (played with scenery-chewing menace by Mel Gibson). It seems that...

If you've enjoyed watching the four Keanu Reeves-led John Wick movies, you know they're bursting at the seams with action.
When we heard about Peacock's three-part prequel series, there were some concerns about how that would translate to the small screen.
Thankfully, the official trailer for the spinoff teases a world familiar to fans of the iconic movie franchise.
Yes, we're taking a trip to the past, but expanding on the history of The Continental is a convincing hook for a series set in that universe.
While watching the impressive promo, I was baited into thinking I was watching a big-budget movie, and it's because no expense is spared here.
Far too often, franchise extensions leave a bad taste because they pale in comparison to the original material, but The Continental promises to be a show unlike any other.

Peacock has released the official trailer for “The Continental,” the latest addition to the “John Wick” franchise. The Mel Gibson-led miniseries is a prequel to the films starring Keanu Reeves, and centers around Winston Scott (Colin Woodell), who came to acquire The Continental, a notorious chain of hotels that Scott established as a neutral haven for housing assassins.
“The Continental” is an enthralling ode to New York in the 1970s, featuring Donna Summer songs, Studio 54-esque club scenes and lots and lots of guns against the backdrop of the city’s dark and dirty streets. The Lionsgate Television project first gained buzz back in 2017 and was originally planned to air on Starz.
Gibson plays ruthless kingpin Cormac alongside Woodell’s Winston Scott (previously played by Ian McShane). The three-part miniseries also stars Ayomide Adegun, Peter Greene, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada and Nhung Kate.

Ballerina stars Ana de Armas as a young woman with killer skills who sets out to get revenge when hitmen kill her family. As the film takes place in the John Wick universe, it will feature appearances from several franchise characters, most notably John Wick himself. We’ve known that Keanu Reeves will have a part to play in Ballerina since November, and although it isn’t clear just how big his role will be, it seems he will have at least one action sequence in the movie.
While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ana de Armas provided an update on Ballerina. “We’ve been in Prague filming for four months,” she said. “We still have one more month to go. The John Wick Universe just keeps on growing. Lionsgate announced today that Oscar nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno has joined the cast of Ballerina, the upcoming John Wick spinoff.
Production on Ballerina is currently underway, with Len Wiseman directing from a script by Shay Hatten. It’s not clear who Catalina Sandino Moreno will play in Ballerina, but she’s a welcome addition to the cast. “One of the challenges of casting Ballerina is making sure that the new roles are played by actors with as much power, emotional presence, and physical skill as Ana has,” producer Erica lee said in a statement. “After working with Catalina on John Woo’s Silent Night, it was clear that she belonged at the top of our list, and it’s a thrill to be reuniting with her.” Catalina Sandino Moreno received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her leading role in Maria Full of Grace.

This past weekend’s Comic Con Experience in Brazil was a fairly major event for the John Wick universe. Not only was a new poster for John Wick 4 released, but Keanu Reeves gave details on the upcoming spinoff, Ballerina.
Speaking to the crowd during the John Wick panel, Keanu Reeves teased his role in Ballerina and gave an update on the production. “I got to be in it, so I’m in it for a few sequences. So that was nice. They’re filming right now, and the script’s great, the story’s cool. Looking forward to it.” While it appears the John Wick character will be limited, this will at least give Ana de Armas her spotlight as the main character.
He also went into the titular ballerina, saying she is a “woman who has some very difficult circumstances and who’s looking for revenge. Whoever killed her- someone killed her father.

John Wick 4 is set to continue the hitman saga next year, but the movies have done a formidable job at building a world that can be explored through a streaming or television series. And that’s just what’s been announced. Outside of the Keanu Reeves movies, there will be an extensive look at the Continental hotel underground business with the spin-off prequel series called The Continental.
The Continental is set to stream on Peacock, but Variety now reports that the international distribution will have the show streaming through Amazon Prime. The international market takes place outside of the United States, the Middle East, and Israel. The series will focus on the manager of The Continental, Winston Scott, who Ian McShane portrayed in the films. Colin Woodell will be playing a younger Winston for the prequel. The official synopsis of the Lionsgate-produced show reads,

The first look at The Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, has been revealed, showcasing Rachel Zegler’s character and a young Coriolanus Snow.
“‘This is very much a story about love,’ says Francis Lawrence. The sentiment may be surprising, coming from the director of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes—but there’s far more to this prequel than the Games you’re expecting. ‘It’s this kind of love story set in a different kind of a world in a different time,’ he adds. ‘A very intimate love story.’ He isn’t wrong.”
