Pink and blue hues overwhelmed the stretch of Sunset Boulevard outside Netflix on Thursday as the “Trans Takeover” picket drew at least 200 writers and allies to address concerns about trans employment and how the community is portrayed in pop culture.
“Trans people are workers too. We’re in solidarity with the labor movement around the world and we are showing up in ways that we are often not depicted,” said writer Jacob Tobia, whose credits include the Showtime pilot “Sissy.” “Strikes are moments where you redefine who is at the table, and we want to be sure that we’re sending a really strong message to the world that we’re at the table now and we want to stay at the table.”

Dn last caught up with Director Beck Kitsis for her brilliant horror short The Three Men You Meet at Night, which took a subversive look at male abuse and how intentions can be just as deadly as actions. She returns to our pages today alongside partner Chris McNabb to premiere Valentine, a new short they’ve co-directed that also explores the intimate difficulty of human relationships, this time on a personal level between a couple. Valentine follows partners Corey and Mia who find themselves re-evaluating the state of their relationship when Corey begins to explore their gender and identity. It’s a tender, honest and important look at the value of their exchanges and is performed beautifully by Jacob Tobia and Sadie Scott. Watch it below, after which we speak with the filmmakers about the personal nature of their short, how they sought to portray trans experiences in a new light,...

Premiering in 2018, Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is a reimagining of the classic ‘80s She-Ra series, which itself was a spin-off of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Using She-Ra’s original ideas and concepts as a springboard, the team behind it updated everything for modern audiences. A deeper story, character designs with tons of variety, and especially more diversity is woven in the series.
This and so much more won the show an army of fans, many of whom were brand new to the wider Masters of the Universe (Motu) franchise. This set the standard for what Motu was for them and the series they’d use to judge all other entries by. With Masters of the Universe: Revelation about to hit Netflix, many She-Ra fans might be wondering if this series is something they’ll enjoy.
What might be helpful to know is the primary difference between the two.

Showtime is developing a half-hour dramedy based on Jacob Tobia’s memoir, Variety has learned exclusively.
Tobia is a non-binary Lgbtq rights activist, actor, producer, and author. Their memoir, “Sissy: A Coming-of-Gender Story,” was published earlier this year by Putnam Books at Penguin Random House. The series, currently titled “Sissy,” would follow Tobi Gibran, a non-binary college grad and full time gender weirdo from North Carolina. Tobi moves to New York City in search of queer utopia. Though they score a prestigious job at the Un, Tobi quickly learns that NYC is less “glittering trans paradise” and more “trash-filled hell with a side of street harassment.”
Tobia will co-write and co-executive produce the project, with Michael Lannan set to co-write in addition to serving as executive producer and showrunner. “Sissy” will be produced by Showtime and Legendary Television Studios.

She-Ra season 4 is happening on Netflix! Now we have a release date and trailer to prove it.
The end of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power season 3 blew the whole universe wide open. This isn't just a fight going on in the world of Etheria but it's a galactic conflict! This can't be the end of the show, right?
Well it's not! She-Ra and the Princesses of Power season 4 is coming to Netflix this fall. And it sounds like the series' showrunner has a plan for what will be included in season 4. Back around the time She-Ra premiered on Netflix, creator Noelle Stevenson gave an interview with Animation Magazine discussing her plans for the show.
“When I first pitched the show, I approached it as if had one season, but we now have four arcs of 13 episodes done. I had ideas for the big overall scheme for the show.
