Dublin, April 21 (Ians) Cricket Ireland on Friday announced their squad for the three-game Odi series against Bangladesh to be held from May 9-14 in Chelmsford.
The series offers Ireland a potential automatic qualification spot for the Icc Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 if they can win all three matches of the Super League, where they are ranked 11th.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, have already qualified for the global Odi tournament to be held in India in October-November. In the squad captained by Andrew Balbirnie, left-arm pacer Josh Little has also been included.
Little is currently turning out for defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ipl 2023. Conor Olphert, Matthew Humphreys and Ross Adair were not available for the series due to examination/work commitments.
“The senior squad has a more familiar look, with much of the squad having been part of the set-up in Zimbabwe (January) and Bangladesh (March) Odi fixtures.

1st Test: Karunaratne, Mendis centuries help Sri Lanka take charge despite late wickets from Ireland
Galle, April 16 (Ians) Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis scored centuries as Sri Lanka piled on 386/4 at stumps on day one of first Test against Ireland at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, here on Sunday.
The 281-run partnership for the second wicket between Karunaratne, who made 179 and Mendis, who struck 140, was the nucleus of Sri Lanka taking charge though Ireland fought back with two late scalps at the end of the day.
At the fag end of the day’s play, Mendis and then Angelo Mathews fell within three overs of each other. Mathews only lasted three balls before taking a wild swipe at a delivery from Ben White, out for his fifth Test match duck.
Earlier, Sri Lanka had started positively early in the day, racing to 40 after the first ten overs of the Test. With minimal assistance in the pitch for the seamers, Mark Adair was into the attack...

Stirling has captained Ireland six times in T20Is in the past and has been vice-captain of Ireland team since 2019. With Balbirnie now rested, and Stirling stepping in, Lorcan Tucker will act as vice-captain for the series against Bangladesh.

In that match, Ireland were put in to bat first but Nepal had the scoring rate on a leash by picking up regular wickets. At 113/8 at the end of 18 overs, they needed a late flourish with the bat to post a fighting total on the scoreboard.
Kamal Singh Airee was tasked with bowling the 19th over. Off the third ball, Mark Adair went for a big heave over the leg side but the ball hit his leg and dropped towards the leg side. The bowler, in his attempt to retrieve the ball,...
