One of the best things about the old Star Wars Expanded Universe was that it afforded writers a chance to delve deeply into the various supporting players who would pop in and out of the original trilogy with nary an explanation for who they were or what their deal even was. One might call this the Boba Fett Syndrome. Take Lando Calrissian's (Billy Dee Williams) cyborg pal Lobot, who joined the smuggler in going legit after Lando became the Baron Administrator of Cloud City. He makes but a few wordless appearances in "The Empire Strikes Back" only to vamoose, never to be seen or mentioned again.
These days, Lobot has a wholly fleshed-out and consistent canonical backstory thanks to books like the "Lando" and "War of the Bounty Hunters" comics series. However, before Disney assumed control of the franchise, you just had to piece together the character's history as best...

For some fans, the arrival of young Luke Skywalker in the eighth episode of The Mandalorian’s second season signaled a coming together of young and old. Just when it looked like the Empire might have finally stolen young Grogu from Mando, Skywalker came to the rescue, showing off a full array of Jedi powers only hinted at in the movies. But for others, the scene signaled a turn to the dark side of modern filmmaking.
The arrival of young Skywalker happened not because the then-septuagenarian Mark Hamill reprised his role in heavy make-up, but because of deep-fake technology. This technology allows studios to create performances out of digital thin air; to capture footage from some virtual world where Hamill continued playing Luke Skywalker in the early 80s. It wasn’t the first, nor the last time Lucasfilm had done this trick for Star Wars. Rogue One featured digital recreations...

A review of this week’s The Mandalorian, “The Tragedy,” coming up just as soon as we travel with the windows down…
There’s a famous line from the end of the classic John Ford film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, where a newspaper editor responds to hearing the honest account of a Wild West myth by declaring, “When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.” What people really want, he’s arguing, is a good story more than the truth, and he aims to keep giving the people what they want.

It may have suffered a short delay – no doubt due to the game’s ridiculously large scope – but Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga already appears to be absolutely rammed with content. Featuring environments, stories and characters from all three of the franchise’s distinctly different trilogies, developer Traveller’s Tales clearly wants to make sure that no fan is left wanting when release day rolls around.
While there’s already been talk of the final total reaching a potential 500, the list of confirmed playable characters currently stands at 121. And the lineup, as of writing, is as follows:
Aat Driver Battle Droid Aayla Secura Admiral Ackbar Anakin Skywalker (Episode: I) Anakin Skywalker (Episode II) Anakin Skywalker (Episode III) Anakin Skywalker (Geonosis) Ashoka Tano At-at At-at Pilot Banthas Battle Droid (Geonosis) Battle Droid (B1-series) Bb-8 Boba Fett C-3Po C-3P0 (Episode II) C-3P0 (Episode VII) Captain Phasma Cardo...

Hello, what have we here? Thanks to Solo: A Star Wars Story and the pitch-perfect casting of Donald Glover as the coolest con man in the galaxy, not to mention Billy Dee Williams’ return to the character in The Rise of Skywalker, Lando Calrissian is back in a big way! And while the future of Glover’s Lando is still a bit murky after Solo‘s tepid reception, there has been no end to the rumors that the actor might get to reprise his role in a follow-up TV series on Disney+. Unfortunately, nothing about a potential Lando TV series has been confirmed thus far by Disney or Lucasfilm, and inquiries by Den of Geek have gone unanswered.
But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a Lando void in our lives to fill. With that in mind, we present a short but fun reading list featuring the original owner of the Millennium Falcon,...

Billy Dee Williams is making his long-awaited return as Lando Calrissian in this December’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and a new clue suggests he might be bringing an old friend with him, a character we haven’t seen in the saga since The Empire Strikes Back.
Twitter user @CadBanesBounty took a closer look at the photo of Williams’ Lando that we got courtesy of Vanity Fair last month and noticed that Lando is wearing the same wrist-mounted communicator he had on in Episode IV. Does this mean his old cyborg assistant Lobot will put in an appearance in the closer to the Sequel Trilogy?
Lobot was Lando’s right-hand man during his time as administrator of Cloud City on Bespin. As with every character in the Sw universe, his story has been expanded in comics and novels over the years, but he’s never returned in another movie since Tesb.
