Buenos Aires, Nov 12 (Ians) As Roma forward Paulo Dybala has been named in Argentina’s squad for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar despite a hamstring tear, the country’s football association has said.
The 28-year-old has not played since sustaining the injury in a 2-1 home win over Lecce in Italy’s Serie A on October 9.
Local media reported on Friday the former Juventus star began light training this week and he will be in a race against time to be fit for Argentina’s first match against Saudi Arabia on November 22. The Albicleste will also face Mexico and Poland in Group C, reports Xinhua.
As expected, Argentina’s wealth of attacking options also include Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi, Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez and Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.
Manager Lionel Scaloni also called up midfielders Leandro Paredes (Juventus) and Rodrigo De Paul (Atletico Madrid) in his 26-man squad.

Buenos Aires, March 3 (Ians) Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni said that he is looking forward to seeing a fit and happy Lionel Messi in the Albiceleste's FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil next month.
Messi began the current season slowly for Barcelona after a failed attempt to force a transfer last August. However, the 33-year-old has recaptured his best form in recent weeks and he now has 24 goals and nine assists in 32 matches across all competitions in 2020-21, Xinhua news agency reported.
"Messi is fine and when he is with us he is even better," Scaloni told reporters on Tuesday.
"Let's hope he continues in this way."
While Messi appears to be in peak physical condition, the same cannot be said of several of his Albiceleste teammates.
Among those in danger of missing the upcoming qualifiers are Tottenham playmaker Giovani Lo Celso, Stuttgart forward Nicolas Gonzalez, and Sevilla pair Lucas Ocampos and Marcos Acuna.

London, Jan 2 (Ians) Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho said that the club is "disappointed" with their players for breaching coronavirus protocols.
Forward Erik Lamela, midfielder Giovani Lo Celso and full-back Sergio Reguilon were pictured in a large during the Christmas period and the image has since gone viral on social media.
West Ham United's Manuel Lanzini can also be seen in the photo and Spurs are set to take disciplinary action against the players.
Mourinho said that he had given Reguilon a Portuguese piglet as a gift thinking that the latter would be spending Christmas alone.
"I gave an amazing gift, Portuguese piglet. Amazing for Portuguese and Spanish. I was told he (Reguilon) would spend Christmas on his own. He was not alone as you could see," Mourinho said in press conference.
"We feel disappointed because we gave the players all the education and conditions. We are not happy. It...
