Yara Shahidi stepped out for Prada’s Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 runway presentation in an ensemble by the titular fashion label. Although the look, styled by Jason Bolden, echoed her elegant yet experimental style, the Grown-ish star‘s long, toned legs stole the show.

Shahidi’s edgy-chic look included a beaded black top layered over a button-grommet-punched white button-up. A simple leather belt secured her black high-waisted shorts, and tall black socks accented her black heels with buckle-strap details. A decidedly simple look, yet the accents and textures made it nuanced and striking on the actor/producer/activist.

This year’s slate of eight Best New Artist hopefuls at the Grammys is one of the strongest of the past decade, mixing big commercial names like Ice Spice and Noah Kahan with some of the most buzzworthy new musicians around like Fred Again, Victoria Monét and Gracie Abrams. Perhaps what stands out the most, though, is how much the category was shaken up when the nominations were revealed. What was thought to be a safe bet for Ice Spice has suddenly opened up into what’s one of the strongest categories in the general field this year.
A big part of that was the rise of Monét, whom many didn’t even consider a shoo-in for a nomination. Come Grammy nominations morning, though, she racked up a very impressive set of seven bids, including a sweep in the R&b field, a crucial Best Engineered Album nom, and what probably shocked people the most,...

In this world, it’s just us and Jorja Smith’s heavenly vocals. On Wednesday, BBC shared the R&b star’s visit to the Live Lounge, where she performed a soulful rendition of Harry Styles’ chart-topper, “As It Was.”
Backed by soft drums and keyboard, Smith performed a slowed-down rendition that matches the singer’s stunning and soulful vocals. “In this world, it’s just us/You know it’s not the same as it was,” she sang.
During the visit, she also performed a stripped-down version of her U.

The time has come again for Barack Obama to share his summer playlist; as usual, it’s a mix of classics and modern hits. Catch the former president with headphones on, and you may hear him listening to modern cool kids like boygenius or Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj, or revered legends like Leonard Cohen. You may also hear him listening to “Walk Like an Egyptian.”
You could clown on Obama for including the latter track, but you can’t say The Bangles don’t deliver some summery fun! Those good vibes continue with cuts like 2Pac’s “California Love” and Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.” Elsewhere, the 2023 playlist slows down for Pearl Jam’s “Just Breathe” and Luke Combs’ take on “Fast Car,” Tracy Chapman’s 1988 song that recently charted even higher than before thanks to the unlikely country cover.

Jorja Smith has confirmed her long-awaited sophomore album. It’s called falling or flying, and it’s slated for release on September 29th via Famm.
Blending elements of jazz, R&b, and funky house music, falling or flying touches on topics like breakups, old friendships, and looking inwards towards yourself. Smith gratefully took the early stages of the pandemic as an opportunity to slow down and re-connect with herself, and the result promises to be her deepest and most mature work yet.
“I don’t slow down enough,” Smith said in a statement. “This album is like my brain. There’s always so much going on but each song is definitely a standstill moment… This is the first time I’m putting stuff out there that I can connect with right now.”

Megadeth have settled a copyright lawsuit stemming from the artwork for their latest album, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!.
Back in February, New York-based illustrator Brent Elliott White sued the band, claiming that hundreds of hours of work had gone unpaid and that he still owned the copyright to the art featuring Megadeth’s iconic mascot Vic Rattlehead.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both parties filed a joint notice of settlement last Thursday (May 11th), informing the court that they had “reached an agreement in principle for the resolution of this action.” A stipulation of dismissal is expected to be filed within 30 days, and “the matter has been resolved amicably,” per White’s attorney Matthew Cave.
White, who has also created art for Trivium and Death Angel, among others, was initially contacted to work on the Megadeth sleeve in early 2020, but no written contract was signed at that time.

One of the first things you'll notice when watching "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is that its soundtrack is very distinctive and unique for the MCU. Sure, the same could be said for the first film's score, as well, but there is a palpable somberness that echoes throughout this one that is unlike anything we've heard yet. Of course, there's an important reason behind this — the film centers around Shuri's (Letitia Wright) grieving process, who is still reeling from the sudden death of her brother, T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman).
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, composer Ludwig Göransson talked about the process of composing for "Wakanda Forever" and how both scores serve as mirrors to each other. Since the first film was scored from the perspective of T'Challa, and Boseman is no longer with us, that had to change for the sequel.

Dana Meyerson, a partner at the publicity firm Biz3, has been on Twitter since its early inception as a widget where users had to text their tweets to publish them. She was introduced to the platform when Urb Magazine partnered with Twitter for SXSW in 2007.
“There would be a live feed to the Twitter widget on Urb’s website, and it would just say what people are doing,” Meyerson recalls. “And you’re also sending these messages into the void of…who’s even reading it? I was like, ‘How...

After Ludwig Göransson’s Oscar-winning deep dive into African music for “Black Panther,” the composer went on a very different journey for “Wakanda Forever” — rediscovering lost Mayan music to underscore the beautiful underwater civilization of Talokan, which is rooted in both Mesoamerican and Nigerian cultures. It was part of director Ryan Coogler’s vision to depict Talokan as an ambiguous counterpart to Wakanda. Led by T’Challa-like King Namor (Tenoch Huerta), Talokan also struggles to protect its ancient culture and special powers from a threatening world.
“I realized that the Mayan music is gone… forcibly erased from this world,” Göransson told IndieWire. “So I started to figure out how I could reimagine what Mayan music sounded like. I went to Mexico City with Ryan and worked with these musical archaeologists that specialize in recreating Mayan music. They’ve been finding instruments in the graves and looking at them and seeing...

“If I Get Caught,” the first single from the R&b duo Dvsn’s upcoming album, released last month, is far from subtle in its description of what some might call “toxic” behavior. In the chorus, destined for social media contagion, singer Daniel Daley informs us that “if I get caught cheating that don’t mean I don’t love you.” Apparently, when Jay-Z approved the use of the “Song Cry” sample featured on the track he texted Dvsn saying, “I didn’t think one could make a song more...

Three months after releasing her mixtape Caprisongs, Fka Twigs is bringing fans into the visual world of her album. On Friday, the singer premiered the shortened visual of her track “Honda,” featuring Pa Salieu, with Rolling Stone.
For the dark, dub-meets-Afrobeats track’s visual, Twigs took the “Honda” themes to the extreme as she was “tied front first onto a pole just zooming down the motorway.”
“Yolo, like with me it’s just anything to get the shot. Working with Aiden Zamiri has been incredible, he’s a genius,” she tells Rolling Stone.
