Katie Colwell is a director and cinematographer hailing from a small town in Connecticut with a B.A. in Filmmaking from Oakland University (Rochester, MI).
Since graduation, Katie has been a Director of Photography on several short films such as Bubbling Up and Bon Voyage, as well as the series, Dead-Enders. She loves exploring different genres and formats as a cinematographer to make the director's vision come to life.
In her own works, she tends to be both the Director as well as Cinematographer like in her short documentary film Where Theater Began. This short had a successful festival run being accepted into the Central Michigan Film Festival, Norwalk Film Festival, Detroit SheTown Film Festival, and more. Coming soon, Katie is combining her love for horror, competitive swimming, and narrative filmmaking for her professional directorial debut, Lapse. She not only hopes to make waves in the horror industry as a young, female filmmaker, but to further the exploration of the genre.
