CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert came out on top at 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday, both in total and P18-49 viewing.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for May 21, 2024, Colbert’s Late Show averaged 2,057,000 total viewers with 255,000 P18-49 viewers. Those solid figures for the program, up +12% and +11%, respectively, from the night before (May 20); +3% and +39%, respectively, from the prior Tuesday episode (May 14). Billie Eilish was Colbert’s guest. Angie Swan and Lakecia Benjamin sat in with Louis Cato & the Late Show Band.

Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, Colbert’s Late Show averaged 1,843,000 total viewers with 230,000 P18-49 viewers on May 20, 2024. That’s -6% and +24%, respectively, from the previous Monday (May 13). Sarah Paulson, and Paul Scheer were Colbert’s guests this past Monday. Cast members from Broadway’s “Merrily We Roll Along,” Angie Swan & Lakecia Benjamin, performed.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to the air this past Monday after a dark week. The program averaged 1,596,000 total viewers with 166,000 P18-49 viewers. ABC did not submit ratings data to Nielsen for last week’s rebroadcasts.

A long-lost live recording featuring one of John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy’s 1961 sets at New York’s Village Gate has been unearthed for release this summer.
Evenings at the Village Gate, out July 14 via Impulse! Records, was recorded in the summer before Coltrane’s legendary slate of Nov. 1961 dates at the Village Vanguard, with a similar quintet lineup: The short-lived tandem of Coltrane and Dolphy alongside drummer Elvin Jones, pianist McCoy Tyner, and bassist Reggie Workman.
