Florence Pugh is back on a Marvel set. The actress shared a behind-the-scenes tour of the Atlanta set where she is currently filming the upcoming Thunderbolts on Wednesday.
“Hey guys, how are you doing? I know I’ve dropped off for a little bit, but that’s partially because I was whisked off to Atlanta to shoot a movie that I’m not really supposed to talk about,” Pugh said in a video posted to Instagram. “But I can show you things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone…I can show you a sneak peek of the set.”
Pugh plays assassin Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her character first appeared in 2021’s Black Widow and later in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
In her video, Pugh appears in costume, lifting the camera to show off Yelena’s suit and then moving to reveal several of the structures under construction for Thunderbolts.

Despite its slow pace, however, Goldberg says Sister Act 3 is still in the works!

Godzilla has defeated giant spiders, giant lobsters, giant robots, giant dinosaurs, giant space dragons, giant plant monsters, giant beetles, and of course, giant monkeys. With “Godzilla Minus One,” Toho’s iconic kaiju (or giant monster) franchise “Godzilla” earned its first Academy Award, receiving the Oscar for Best Visual Effects after wowing audiences with its impressive CGI re-creation of cinema’s most iconic movie monster. After years of the franchise’s Japanese films reaching relatively niche U.S. audiences, “Godzilla Minus One” grossed $110 million worldwide and attracted critical acclaim, bringing the franchise new fans and newfound recognition.

Whenever Hollywood and television networks have an IP that works, they always try to get as much money from it as possible. One way to do this is through spin-offs, movies and shows that take specific aspects of the original and turn them into original stories. By expanding on their lore and worldbuilding, franchises can stay relevant while still offering something new and exciting to their audience.

Anthony Mackie has been a stalwart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since debuting as Sam Wilson/Falcon in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The actor’s MCU tenure has included “Avengers” movies and the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” and now Mackie is taking on the mantle of Captain America in the upcoming film tentpole “Captain America: Brave New World.”
While promoting his latest series “Twisted Metal” in the United Kingdom, Mackie compared the project to his experience making Marvel movies and told Radio Times there was a lot more storytelling freedom to be had outside of the MCU.
“I would say the Marvel thing is completely different, just because it’s such a space of controlled entertainment. Like, there’s only so much you can do,” Mackie observed. “There’s only so much creativity you can bring to the table, because Stan Lee gave us so much content.

Sometimes a director has so much ambition and such a lofty vision of what they want a film to look like, they bite off a bit more than they can chew. There are too many stories of film production hell to recall, but the 1977 movie by William Friedkin called Sorcerer is a nightmare that almost turned out to be deadly for his crew and, ultimately, himself. There are more notorious stories that are still mentioned in hushed tones around Hollywood about problematic productions, like the doomed cast, crew, and set of 1996's The Island of Dr. Moreau, and then there are true abominations like the one Friedkin undertook that kind of flew under the radar for other reasons that we will get to later on. Within the first ten minutes of Sorcerer, Friedkin takes us to Veracruz, Mexico; Jerusalem, Israel; Paris, France; and New Jersey, United States. It was a...

Near the end of writer-director Alice Rohrwacher’s quietly spellbinding feature La Chimera, there is a moment where everything that preceded it comes into focus. It is the type of sequence that is already up there as one of the better finales of 2024, as it combines all the flashes of a painful past and the path forward into something subtly explosive. Even though this year is already not lacking for great endings and La Chimera technically already premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year, it’s still one of the most interesting and illuminating films that will come out this year as well.

Hollywood has been obsessed with giant monster movies for almost the entirety of its history, with new franchises like Pacific Rim and Cloverfield emerging in the past two decades. While quintessential films like the original 1954 Godzilla and the Rodan series certainly had a significant influence on the genre’s development, the roots of moviegoers’ interest in these types of stories can be traced back to the success of 1933’s King Kong. An epic tragedy told with a surprising amount of emotion, King Kong was a breakthrough in stop-motion effects and imaginative set design. Although it’s among the few classic monster movies that still holds up today, several reboots of the character have retained its central themes and narrative. However, the new version of Kong that debuted as part of Legendary’s “MonsterVerse” has a completely new origin story, and is thus never referred to as “King.”...

All actors have to get their start somewhere and, for many, that means appearing in small B-movie roles or other undesirable projects that will prove they have the chops to make it in such a cutthroat industry. Well, Harrison Ford started out the same way, and after first appearing in two other projects (for which he went uncredited), he finally got his name in lights in the 1967 Western A Time for Killing, which was based on the novel The Southern Blade by Nelson and Shirley Wolford. This picture isn't the most thoughtful or engaging Western you'll ever come across, but it got Ford his real start in the movie business, even if he's only in a single scene.

While chatting about The Real Housewives of Potomac, Mellencamp had harsh words for Dr. Wendy Osefo, saying of the reality star, “I need her to be paused,” Mellencamp told Judge. “I can’t help it. I’m really trying to get on board with Wendy. Like, by paused, I mean ‘Bye.'” But Osefo wasn't having this, especially since she had been asked to be on Two Ts In A Pod previously.

In the fading summer of 1999, Robert Zemeckis took a break from the filming of Cast Away to make What Lies Beneath, a ghostly thriller set against the banks of Lake Champlain in picturesque Burlington, Vermont. Taking cues from several Old Hollywood classics of the genre but adding a spectral twist to the proceedings, Zemeckis went on to craft one of the most underrated and effective offerings from that era (released at a time when there was a lot of competition in flicks like Stir of Echoes and The Sixth Sense). Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford were his first choices for the lead roles — Claire and Dr. Norman Spencer, an apparently happy couple with demons to spare — and swiftly made themselves available. Ford reportedly made sure to clear space in his schedule to accommodate What Lies Beneath, and for unsuspecting viewers predisposed to seeing a certain heroic brand of Ford, it...

Are you a person who complains on Twitter that not enough mid-budget, story-driven films starring real, classically trained actors get made anymore? Or maybe you were a big fan of 2022's The Banshees of Inisherin because of its intoxicating accents and lush Irish landscapes, but thought Martin McDonagh's morality play got a little too weird once the donkey died? If your answer is yes to one or both of these questions then, boy, do I have the movie for you. Set and filmed in North Ireland, Robert Lorenz's In the Land of Saints and Sinners, which stars Liam Neeson and Kerry Condon as two very different kinds of killers, is a gripping, character-based crime thriller that makes great use of its beautiful location and knockout cast.

It wasn't often that John Wayne made the jump from film to television. A movie star to his core, the Duke was best known for his Western charm and strong lawmen, who always seemed to be on the right side of things. More than that, he was known for earning top billing in expensive Hollywood motion pictures. But there was a time when Wayne graced audiences on their living room television sets, appearing in an episode of the beloved Western classic Wagon Train in a role that might feel familiar to longtime fans of the Western star.

Alamo Drafthouse, the Texas-based theater chain that’s popular for its in-theater dining and fan-forward approach to moviegoing, is exploring a sale.
Several Hollywood studios were approached to assess their interest in buying the company, according to two sources. It’s unclear if the talks are ongoing or how close the company is to a potential acquisition.
A representative for Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas declined to comment.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early 2021, as theater chains were struggling to rebound from prolonged Covid-related closures and a lack of new product. It emerged in June of 2021 after completing a sale to Altamont Capital Partners, with funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group LLC and Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League. Alamo Drafthouse had to close down a few underperforming venues as part of its bankruptcy filing. Since pandemic lockdowns have lifted, the company has opened new locations in cities like Chicago,...

It's been three years since the King of the Monsters and the king of Skull Island graced the silver screen, but the legendary beasts are back in "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." Adam Wingard has returned to the director's chair for another kaiju-filled romp in the MonsterVerse, one that has even more monsters than 2021's "Godzilla vs. Kong" did. Wingard, it's also worth pointing out, is the first director to helm two movies in this franchise, so we're getting some consistency here. But are we getting anything else after the credits start rolling?
Both "Kong: Skull Island" and "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" had post-credits scenes, so it's reasonable to wonder if "Godzilla x Kong" is going to have one. We're here to address that very question in spoiler-free fashion. So fear not! If you're planning on heading to theaters to see the film on opening weekend, we're not...

As if TikTok, Instagram’s Reels, and Snapchat haven’t zapped Gen Z’s attention spans enough, YouTube is now experimenting with a feature that allows users to automatically jump to the best parts of a video.
Our doom-scrolling society is doomed.
“We’re running a very small experiment in the U.S. for a Premium-only feature that combines user-watched behavior data and AI to help identify the next best point a viewer particularly wants to skip ahead to,” the on-camera host of the “Creator Insider” channel on YouTube, run by YouTube’s creator-facing technical team, said in the video announcement.
Here’s how it works: If a viewer is already double-tapping to skip ahead (10 seconds) on what is considered an “eligible segment,” YouTube will display a “Jump Ahead” button that takes the viewer to what the data and AI tells them is the next point in the same video...

Franchise animation Kung Fu Panda 4 and creature clash Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire lead a bumper weekend of 16 new films at the UK-Ireland box office.
Universal’s Kung Fu Panda 4 has the biggest opening of the weekend in 715 sites – a significant jump for the series, after 2008’s Kung Fu Panda (448) and sequels in 2011 (514) and 2016 (585), all through Paramount.
Conversely, the total grosses of each film have dropped, with the first title making £20.4m, followed by £17m and £14.2m for the sequels. All of these were pre-pandemic; number four will look to cross the £10m mark before challenging any of those totals.

Fresh from their triumph at the Oscars earlier this month with “Oppenheimer,” Christopher Nolan and his wife, producer Emma Thomas, will receive a knighthood and damehood respectively for their services to film. The honor was personally approved by Britain’s King Charles III.
Co-chief executive officer of Netflix Ted Sarandos will also be honored as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (Cbe) for his services to the creative industries. The honor is one of the highest that can be awarded in the U.K.
Traditionally, the honors are awarded in person by a senior member of the Royal Family during an investiture ceremony.
Nolan was previously awarded the Cbe in 2019 for his services to film. He won his first best director Oscar for “Oppenheimer,” which follows the story of the father of the first atomic bomb. Thomas produced the film, which received 13 Academy Award nominations and took...

It’s only been six months since the release of Liam Neeson’s last film, which means theaters are overdue for another thriller led by the prolific star. His latest vehicle, “In the Land of Saints and Sinners,” arrives with an unusual distinction: Directed by Robert Lorenz, the film premiered in Venice a month before another Neeson movie, the maligned bomb-threat thriller “Retribution,” hit U.S. screens. Being selected by such a festival lends ”Saints and Sinners” a whiff of prestige, which it decidedly earns. In fact, the film practically resembles a “one for me” endeavor for the star, with its windswept Irish landscapes and thoughtful reserve, putting the actor among an ensemble of his fellow countrymen and providing the performances room to find poignancy.
The story opens with its most suspenseful action: a bombing by an Ira platoon in Belfast that accidentally kills a group of young children, setting...

The James Bond franchise has been one of the most successful action sagas of all-time, and after over sixty years since the character made his big screen debut, the series is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. There will always be a debate over which actor portrayed Bond the best, as different iterations of the saga appealed to audiences of different generations that grew up with the films. However, it’s hard to deny how manganous Sean Connery was in the role of 007, as he set the precedent for what Ian Fleming’s charismatic super spy should be. While both Dr. No and From Russia With Love were successful, Connery’s role in Goldfinger is responsible for turning the character into an icon. Although it’s still cited as one of the best entries in the series, the iconic death sequence in Goldfinger simply isn’t scientifically possible.

With Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire landing in theaters, here's your guide to how the battle for Hollow Earth - and regular Earth - ended up.

A Stephen King horror story about a malevolent (sort of) doll almost sounds like something that could've been written specifically for James Wan to turn into a movie. But while the filmmaker behind "Saw," "Insidious," "The Conjuring," and "Malignant" is indeed involved in adapting "The Monkey" -- a short story King wrote for Gallery magazine in 1980 before later including it in his 1985 collection "Skeleton Crew" -- for the screen, he's only lending his services as a producer.
Instead, "The Monkey" is being written and directed by Osgood "Oz" Perkins, son of "Psycho" actor Anthony Perkins and the mind behind such creepily atmospheric and inventively stylized horror pictures as "The Blackcoat's Daughter," "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House," and "Gretel & Hansel". Osgood Perkins is also currently riding high thanks to the buzz around "Longlegs," his upcoming occult serial killer horror-thriller that boasts one of the most intriguing trailers in recent memory.
