Breaking: After pulling out of a scheduled appearance to promote X-Men: Days Of Future Past at last weekend’s Wondercon, director Bryan Singer has announced that he’s not going to participate in the launch publicity for the Fox tent pole because of the allegations of sex abuse that are the subject of a civil lawsuit and allegedly occurred in 1999. This case is sordid, and has been a challenge for some news outlets because Singer was among several names named, with no evidence so far. He originated the X-Men franchise for Fox, directing the first two stellar films, and this was expected to be a triumphant return. But though unsubstantiated at this point, the allegations are serious, the scandal is growing, and it is not surprising to see him bow out.
