“Breaking Bad” star Anna Gunn will topline “Equity,” Broad Street Pictures’ Wall Street drama.
Touted as the first female-driven Wall Street film, “Equity” follows an investment banker who is threatened by a financial scandal and must untangle a web of corruption, forcing her to re-examine the rules of the cutthroat world she has always loved.
Broad Street was founded last year by “Orange Is the New Black” star Alysia Reiner and “Backwards” actress Sarah Megan Thomas to produce films with strong female roles both in front and behind the camera.
Meera Menon signed on earlier this year to direct “Equity.” Menon’s directorial debut, “Farah Goes Bang,” premiered at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, where she was awarded the inaugural Nora Ephron Prize for a groundbreaking female filmmaker.
“Broad Street Pictures is all about employing and empowering women in entertainment,” said Thomas and Reiner. “Anna is the perfect fit.”
