The Witcher is coming to an end. The show announced today on X that Netflix has picked up a fifth season of the fantasy adaptation, which will be its last.
“It’s official, The Witcher season 4 is in production. But that’s not all, we’re already planning season 5, which will be the final season and bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion. See you on The Continent,” Netflix confirmed.
As Netflix noted, Season 4 production is underway.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

Lionsgate Television is teaming with Park Chan-wook to develop an English-language TV adaptation of Park’s iconic film “Oldboy.”
Park directed and co-wrote the original film, which was itself loosely based on the Japanese manga of the same name. He will produce the new series version along with his producing partner, Syd Lim. Executives Courtney Mock and Tara Joshi are overseeing the project for Lionsgate Television. Bryan Weiser negotiated the deal.
“Lionsgate Television shares my creative vision for bringing ‘Oldboy’ into the world of television,” said Park. “I look forward to working with a studio whose brand stands for bold, original and risk-taking storytelling.”
Originally released in 2003, “Oldboy” tells the story of a man who is kidnapped and held prisoner in a sealed hotel room for 15 years. He is suddenly released with no explanation, only to learn he has five days to discover why he was imprisoned or face the consequences.

Jimmy Kimmel was widely praised last month for presiding over an entertaining edition of The Academy Awards that actually saw year-over-year ratings growth (a rarity these days in linear television).
In fact, it was such a success that when asked whether he’d invite Kimmel back to host next year, ABC’s executive vice president of Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment Rob Mills said he’d be willing to sign Kimmel to a “lifetime contract” for hosting the Oscars. “I mean, I will certainly beg him to do it,” he said.
At the time, Kimmel’s side seemed less enthused. Asked about the possibility of returning, Kimmel’s wife and producing partner Molly McNearny said they needed time to think about it. “Ask me in a month or two after I’ve had a little bit of vitamin D maybe… I honestly don’t know. I feel like we’ve done a great job.

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Chairman Luis Fernandez is spearheading an executive shuffle and a restructuring of Telemundo Studios in a bid to amp up the company’s scripted content for both linear and streaming platforms.
“At a time when Telemundo is the most-watched network in prime time, we are super-charging our scripted content production under one strong brand: Telemundo Studios,” said Fernandez who returned in December to Telemundo where he was previously head of the news division for six years before taking a hiatus.
“For almost two decades, Telemundo has led in the production of Spanish-language content made by Hispanics for Hispanics.

Orlando Bloom takes himself to all-new heights and depths in his new three-part docuseries, Orlando Bloom: To the Edge. The actor may be best known for roles in big-budget blockbusters like the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, but it seems his truest passion is finding and testing his own limits—physically, mentally, and emotionally. In each episode of the series, Bloom challenges himself to accomplish a very difficult and dangerous activity after just a few weeks of training. First, there’s the matter of learning to wingsuit solo; then, he decides to dive 100 feet into the ocean while holding his breath; and, finally, he climbs a massive peak that forces him to confront his deepest fear. Each challenge is draining and revelatory for Bloom, and we learned so much about the actor (and apparent adrenaline fiend) watching it all play out. He was very moved...

For the veteran performer, adding the credit to his resumé was a welcome change. “This is a surprising turn of events for me,” Howard admits. “I have never been a big soap opera guy, but to be on The Bold and the Beautiful, that’s a notch in my gun belt.” This isn’t Howard’s first time on a soap — he appeared on Santa Barbara as a character named Marshall for a handful of episodes in 1987. It will be worth it. That’s what the first two seasons of Good Omens have taught us as we await the third to return. The Prime Video series, based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett and now expanding on that story, began by following the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) over the leading up to their attempt to stop Armageddon after the birth of the antichrist. The second season moved beyond the book and saw Aziraphale and Crowley hiding the amnesiac archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) from both Heaven and Hell before it ended in heartbreak. We know it will be some time before we find out what happens next, so below, we’re gathering everything we know about the future of Good Omens, including teases we got from Gaiman. Caitlin Clark proved to be one of the most-watched sensations in all of sports this year, catapulting her Iowa Hawkeyes college team to the widely-watched national championships. After smashing scoring records in the NCAA, she was drafted as the number-one pick by the WNBA’s Indiana Fever. Her reported salary? She’ll make $76,535 for her first year, $78,066 for the second year, and $85,873 for the third. She also has a fourth-year option of $97,582. Whether she gets that rumored eight-figure endorsement deal with Nike or not, the difference between her salary and that of newly drafted NBA players is staggering and had many folks, up to and including President Joe Biden, speaking out against the pay disparity. The ladies of The View had particularly strong insights on the matter since ABC Studios, where they work, is affiliated with ESPN, which recently elevated its broadcast coverage of the sport, through parent company Disney.

One of TV’s most magnetic pairings split up earlier this year, when Stuart Martin, The Duke of Miss Scarlet and the Duke, announced he wouldn’t reprise his role as William Wellington opposite Kate Phillips (the eponymous Miss Scarlet). It was a huge bummer for fans of the cozy PBS Masterpiece detective drama, who’d waited for the investigative duo to become a romantic one after four seasons. Cheryl Burke was a long-time fixture of Dancing With the Stars but was nowhere to be seen when the ABC competition series paid tribute to the late Len Goodman last October. Speaking on the latest episode of the Amy and T.J. Podcast, Burke shared her thoughts on why she wasn’t invited to the special episode, explaining how her own podcast might have played a big part. “I would assume that some people may not be happy with my podcast that I have here with iHeart… maybe it’s the title,” the professional dancer said (per Deadline), referring to her podcast Sex, Lies, & Spray Tans, which covers the long-running reality series. Goodman died in April 2023, and DWTS paid respects to him in October with a touching tribute that included a look back at the beloved judge’s career, with special videos and performances. Barefoot Contessa host Ina Garten has been opening up about her marriage of over 55 years to former government official Jeffrey Garten, including the reason they never had children. Appearing on the latest episode of Julia Louis-Dreyfus‘ podcast, Wiser Than Me, the Food Network star revealed it was her decision not to have kids, noting that Jeffrey “would have been a great parent.” “I think Jeffrey would have been a great parent. He would have really loved having children,” Ina told the Seinfeld star, per People. “But he wanted me to be happy, and it was okay with him.” Ina added, “I had no interest in having children. None. I just had a terrible childhood, and it was nothing I wanted to recreate.” The famous cook and author said she doesn’t have any regrets about her choice, but said that seeing her friends with their children, “I understand what it could be.

American TV bosses obviously didn’t learn many lessons from “Episodes,” the Showtime/BBC co-production which brilliantly skewered the habit of adapting British sitcoms, and removing all nuances, subtleties, and idiosyncrasies in the process. In the 13 years since its premiere, there’s been numerous failed pilots (“Spy”), ratings disasters (“Free Agents”), and entire series considered unfit for public consumption (“Us and Them”) which originated across the pond. Now the most singular UK comedy of the 2010s is going transatlantic.
The BAFTA-nominated “Friday Night Dinner” — which served up 37 episodes from 2011-2020 —stemmed from creator Robert Popper’s real-life secular Jewish family and their weekly Shabbat meals, explaining why everything from its suburban London home to its lovable oddballs feels so wonderfully specific. Disappointingly, Amazon Freevee’s “Dinner with the Parents” is as generic as its title.
The 10-part series on Freevee does attempt to retain some of the original’s quirks.

Tyler Campanella, the stepson of former Real Housewives of New Jersey star Siggy Flicker, was arrested in connection to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to court records. As reported by NBC News, court documents reveal that Campanella was arrested in New York City on Wednesday, April 17, and faces five misdemeanor charges for his alleged involvement in the riot. According to an FBI affidavit obtained by NBC News, phone records showed that Campanella’s phone was inside the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., when the riots broke out in 2021. In addition, the FBI found footage of Campanella inside various parts of the Capitol, including Nancy Pelosi’s suite. In one video, reviewed by NBC, a man identified as Campanella is seen walking into the room where the then-Speaker’s laptop was stolen. It was said that Campanella, a sales manager at a Chrysler dealership,...

One year after becoming Live‘s permanent co-host, Mark Consuelos is opening up about the challenges of hosting the long-running daytime talk show alongside his wife, Kelly Ripa. Appearing on the latest episode of Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, Consuelos reflected on one year as co-host of the ABC series, noting how much simpler things were when he was merely a sometimes guest host. Consuelos frequently stepped in for former host Ryan Seacrest when he wasn’t available. However, the American Idol host exited Live last April after six years, leading the way for Consuelos to take a permanent spot at the table next to his wife. With more responsibility on his plate, Consuelos admitted that he lets Ripa take the lead, especially when it comes to interviewing guests. “I still don’t ask a ton of questions,” he confessed, per The Sun U.S. “That’s not true.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Episode 4 “Face the Strange.”] The crew’s latest encounter with Moll (Eve Harlow) and L’ak (Elias Toufexis) sends two of its members on quite the timey wimey trip—including to Star Trek: Discovery‘s past and (hopefully not) future. Their foes planted a time bug on Adira’s (Blu Del Barrio) sleeve in the previous episode, and as a result, Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her Number One, Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie), go jumping through time. At one point, Burnham even encounters herself—the Season 1 version, fresh off being a mutineer and not trusted by any of the crew (including Airiam!). Revisiting the past version of her character and fighting her as the present-day one “was one of my favorite moments,” Martin-Green raves to TV Insider. “We had such an amazing time shooting it, and I loved being able to see the contrast between...

Earlier this month, the final episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm aired on HBO. Talk about the end of an era. “No Lessons Learned” didn’t just bring Larry David’s loosely autobiographical sitcom to a close after 12 seasons and twice as many years. You could also say that it waved goodbye to the kind of antagonistic humor in which the star-creator specialized, a comedy of confrontation, awkward misunderstanding, and faux pas. Larry was rude to the bitter, irreverent end. That made him something of an outlier in the small-screen landscape of the 2020s — an unfashionably unsentimental crank, the anti-Ted Lasso.

Greg Whiteley has a new sports docuseries at Netflix that really isn’t new at all. The seven-episode (at 45-minutes apiece) “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” will premiere this summer on Netflix. The streamer first announced the series on Thursday, when it also put out a teaser (below).
Greg Whiteley… Netflix… cheerleading docuseries… Why does this all sound so familiar? Oh yeah, it’s because Whiteley is the guy behind Netflix’s two-season docuseries “Cheer” (as well as the equally excellent five-season “Last Chance U”).
Fans of “Cheer” have been not-so-patiently waiting for a third season, so… isn’t this just that? Why not call “America’s Sweethearts” what it really is: “Cheer” Season 3. That’s what we want.
There’s plenty of precedent here. While “Cheer” Seasons 1 and 2 focused on competitive collegiate cheerleading (mostly) at Navarro College (also in Texas!), Whiteley’s precursor “Last Chance U” not only changed schools — it changed sports.

When Quinn Shephard (indie hit “Blame” and internet satire “Not Okay”) set out to adapt Rebecca Godfrey’s bestselling narrative non-fiction book “Under the Bridge,” about the 1997 murder of teenager Reena Virk, one key aspect of the book stood out to her beyond the crime.
“I was so struck by how gentle [the book] was,” Shephard told IndieWire during a recent interview. “And there was a real sensitivity to the way that it approached the holistic story, as well as all of the characters. It was a very beautiful book; it was very poetic. I was really shocked that a story that was so dark and so brutal could have so much tenderness. [It’s] really a story of childhood and coming of age.”

Like most things in Hollywood, “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” began with a promise.
After years of whispered complaints about the sometimes-shady world of children’s entertainment, an investigative team set out to expose Dan Schneider’s Nickelodeon and the years of alleged abuse endured by the kids who worked there from 1994 to 2018. Others had tried to tell this story, but this time serious journalists planned to expose the industry’s seamy underbelly — documenting past wrongs, giving voice to victims, and charting tangible change.
Ex-kid actors and “Quiet on Set” subjects Raquel Lee Bolleau and Alexa Nikolas told IndieWire they were presented with a plan for an honest look at the issues and suffering borne out by their childhoods. Lee Bolleau (“The Amanda Show”) talked to the “Quiet on Set” producers about her passion for healing and protecting young performers still in the industry; Nikolas (“Zoey...

While multiple Korean TV series have connected with global audiences, Japan’s production committees, terrestrial broadcasters and talent agencies have kept their TV industry tightly focused on a local market.
Anime and variety have long remained the Japanese TV industry’s best-known exports, while the premium end of the spectrum has largely escaped Japanese producers. That is despite multinational shows like Hulu’s “Shogun,” HBO’s “Tokyo Vice” and Netflix’s “House of Ninjas” underscoring the potentially substantial overseas interest in Japan-set live-action drama.
