She has also built a solid career in cinema, working on movies such as "Faroeste Caboclo" (2013), "Simonal" (2019), and "Ângela", her upcoming movie.- Gita Deva Delavy was born in Aiuruoca, Minas Gerais, on February 13, 2008, and is a Brazilian actress, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and digital content creator. From an early age, Gita showed an interest in music and it was only six years old that she started writing poems and singing too, she accompanied her older brother, who played MPB on the guitar. At the age of nine, she learned to play the ukulele by herself, although it was a huge challenge, not least because she didn't have the specific instrument in the beginning, she used to put the ukulele tunings on her brother's cavaquinho, although her fingertips got blisters due to the thin and hard strings of the instrument, but it was at that time that she decided to pursue a career as a pop singer, posting her first covers on the internet. And nowadays, she no longer goes through the same difficulty, she got a real ukulele, which she calls Mercúrio.
At the age of 12, her career gained momentum when celebrities such as Emicida, Vitor Kley, Nando Reis, Vanessa da Mata and others, including Vitória, from the duo AnaVitória, discovered her videos and were won over by her voice and charisma. One of them reached Felipe Simas, who, at the time, asked if she was interested in pursuing an artistic career and she replied yes, without even thinking twice, and since then, Felipe has become her manager and representative. And it was precisely through him that Gita had the opportunity to act in the miniseries It's All Right! ("Tá Tudo Certo"), alongside singer Ana Caetano, from the duo AnaVitória.
In addition to covers and acting, Gita is also a very talented songwriter, inspired by artists who are her main musical references, such as Lorde, Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse, Gita has been composing songs and seeks to convey questions rather than love in her lyrics, and their musical style is alternative pop, with many references to Brazilian music. Despite being so young, Gita already faced some challenges and obstacles, she commented that she had difficulty composing in Portuguese, which left her discouraged with authorial projects and music in general for about two years. However, she overcame these creative blocks by understanding that she didn't need to compose in Portuguese if it wasn't her genuine desire. And when it comes to covers, Gita chooses the songs she's going to sing based on what she's feeling at the moment, and she doesn't really like to sing the songs that other people ask her to. But there are some songs that are your favorites to sing, like "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse, "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica, and the one that stands out the most is "Caçador de Mim" by Milton Nascimento, which is one of your favorite songs. Milton Nascimento is one of her biggest musical idols, along with Andreas Vollenweider and Roger Waters. But who Gita would really like to partner with is the singer RAYE, who is one of her great musical influences.
Gita is extremely perfectionist and self-critical, spending hours recording to choose the best take for the videos. She handles praise well, but prefers to receive criticism from close people who know her work and effort. But apart from music, she has many hobbies such as studying Film, Astronomy, Theology and Astrology. When she has writer's block, she goes back to those themes to get ideas, but when she's writing, she's one hundred percent dedicated to it. Her creative process for composing songs is very diverse, and she is inspired by everything she has experienced. Gita usually seeks inspiration at the piano or in her room, usually at night. She doesn't choose her musical references to influence her, they are usually the ones that attract her the most, but she goes after many of them to have a more general knowledge. Gita has a self-critical process when composing songs, because she feels that she does things better when she demands herself, but she is trying to be less of a perfectionist and recognize that it is a process that takes time and that, if she demands too much, it can be harmful. She says it's a two-way street. Gita takes good care of her voice with daily exercises and weekly lessons, and enjoys listening to some relaxing rock music like Pink Floyd, The Verve, and Big Brother and the Holding Company. And she balances her studies and her music career in the best possible way, although she is a bit challenging at times, but her teachers understand her situation and are less strict. But that doesn't take her thoughts away from her next steps in her music career, like wanting to record an album.
She says her biggest achievement to date is acting in the miniseries, but a turning point for her was when singer Aurora recognized and embraced her at Lollapalooza, that festival was a pivotal moment in her career as a fan and artist, especially in the Billie Eilish concert, her favorite singer, where she lived the happiest moments of her life. Her experience working alongside the singers AnaVitória was perfect, and she considers them as her sisters, and Gita intends to continue composing and improving her skills in this area.
Gita has proven to be one of the most promising artists working today, despite the challenges, she has never given up on pursuing a career, and continues to hone her skills. Gita Delavy is an inspiring figure, and we can look forward to what the future holds for her. With perseverance and support from the people she has captivated and those who love her, Gita has been treading a path to become one of the greatest Brazilian artists.
