His half-brother Emilio "El Indio" Fernandez was Mexico's greatest native-born movie director, as well as a greate movie star himself, while his brother Fernando Fernández was a famous singer and movie actor.
Fernandez began acting when he was 10 years old, making his credited screen debut in director Fernando de Fuentes's Allá en el Rancho Grande (1949). His second credited role, in La malquerida (1949), was directed by his brother, Emilio Fernández. Jaime Fernandez worked with the great El Indio on seven other films, and won the Ariel Award (the Mexican equivalent of the Oscar) for Best Actor in a Minor Role (Mejor Papel de Cuadro Masculino) under his brother's direction for La rebelión de los colgados (1954) (Rebellion of the hanged). Jamie had won his first Ariel award for Best Young Actor (Mejor Actuación Juvenil) for El rebozo de Soledad (1952) ("Soledad's Shawl"), and would win a third as Best Supporting Actor (Mejor Coactuación Masculina) playing Friday in 'Luis Bunuel' 's English-language _Aventuras de Robinson Crusoe, Las (1954)_ .
Fernandez eventually appeared in over 180 films and a number of television mini-series, as well as acted on the stage. The height of his career came in the 1950s and '60s, but he continued to work as a movie actor into the 21st century.

Oliver started her modeling career at the age of 16; soon thereafter, her look and poise quickly landed her on the cover of Vogue, in whose pages she has been featured numerous times throughout her professional life.
Early in her career, Oliver moved to Miami where she modeled for some of the world's most renowned magazines like Elle and Top Model. It was in Miami where her agent suggested she audition for the Fox movie Fortune Hunter. She tried out for the part not really expecting to get it (since she did not consider herself an actress at the time) and to her surprise, she got it. It was her agent who also suggested she audition for the host position for the Telemundo show Basta. She did not consider that her area of expertise but went because she does not like to close herself off to any opportunity. Again, she got the job, and hosted Basta for two years.
After several years in the United States, Oliver returned to Mexico City where she appeared in Ramona, Sin Pecado Concebido, and La Madrastra, among other telenovelas, for Televisa, the largest Spanish-language broadcast network in the world.
Due to her popularity on screen, it was a natural progression for Oliver to start her own show on Televisa, Las Hijas de la Madre Tierra, which she co-produced and co-hosted with her close friend Yolanda Andrade. The concept behind Las Hijas was "to show people what they really wanted to see:" candid conversations with famous people in their own homes, something that came easily to her since she knew many of them closely through all her work in the medium. The show evolved to also include trips to different parts of the world where the daring Montse, as she is known to her friends, jumped from planes, was set on fire, swam with sharks, ate scorpions, kissed a bear, was shot at, got into a ring with Bengal tigers... you get the picture. The show aired for eight years in Mexico and in various countries around the world.
During this time, Oliver continued to model, act in commercials and telenovelas, and serve as national spokesperson and brand image in broadcast and print media for selected global companies, which included Coca-Cola, L'Oréal Paris, and Lancome among others, and currently include Scotia Bank, Trident, and Clear shampoo.
All the while, Oliver continues to be tapped by Televisa as the network's live correspondent in historical television specials around the world. Her reputation as a person of integrity and an adventurous spirit was well employed by the network giant when they asked her to cover the Greece and Beijing Olympics in 2002 and 2008, as well as the Japan and South Africa World Cups in 2004 and 2010 respectively. She has also been called upon to host live award shows as was the case in 1998 when she hosted the prestigious music festival Viña del Mar in Chile and in 2002 when she co-hosted the MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica in Miami.
Oliver continues her reign on the Televisa network where she co-hosts (with Yolanda Andrade) the very successful interview and musical late-night show Mojoe.
In addition to her high profile media presence in Mexico, Oliver owns several businesses: a clothing line called Royal Closet with business partner Barbara Coppel; a line of sunglasses called MO Lunettes du Soleil; a talent agency, Jerry ML, which represents artists for commercial work throughout Mexico; and, a production company which specializes in producing commercials.- Actress
