- When a Russian spacecraft is lost in space with two cosmonauts on board, the KGB authorities abduct two petty criminals, Franco and Ciccio, to launch them into space and have them return to impersonate the lost cosmonauts, only to have the real cosmonauts, Paradowski and Borovin, return; misunderstandings with the two duos abound.
- In 1986, we are introduced to six friends after they graduate from high school in an upstate New York town. Carla Noll is in love with her best friend Aaron Lewis, but who is in love with Jenna Moretti a fame-seeking starlet, who does not return Aaron's affections. Craig Brewster and Will Malloy are best friends despite their backgrounds (Will comes from a poor family and Craig from a wealthy family). After the graduation ceremony, Craig and Will get into a car accident when they collide with a pickup truck while driving drunk. Craig begs Will to take the rap for the drunk driving accident because it will hurt Craig's chances of getting into Brown University since Will is not going to college. Will, out of blind loyalty to his best friend, does... and he soon regrets it when the driver of the other vehicle dies and Will is charged with manslaughter. Craig's girlfriend, Samantha Carlson, confides in Carla that she is pregnant with Will's baby. But Sam keeps it a secret for she about to go to London for college, Craig's goes off to Brown, Jenna goes off to Hollywood to make it as an actress, and Will's goes off to jail. Fast forward to 2006: one of the group has been murdered, and the rest of them are all suspects when Detective Kenneth Marjorino interviews the sulking, chain-smoking Carla about their time after graduation.

Meanwhile, Will pays the ultimate price for the one crime he did commit when FBI agents approach him to force them to take down Craig's unscrupulous father. Aaron returns from Seattle with a secret, and Jenna puts her own acting career ahead of Carla's who's now involved in helping the Phillips with their marriage when she discovers that Paul Phillips is a domestic abuser who hits his wife, Meghan, whenever he's in a bad mood. Back in 2006, Detective Marjorino learns he's carried a grudge against the wrong man for 20 years when Will tells him about taking the fall for Craig's drunk driving accident that killed his father. Also, Carla receives an anonymous letter... from someone who claims to know who the murderer is.
- In the present, Marjorino is happy because he found someone important in his case and will get a statement. In 1990, Jenna is filming a movie in New York City, but has to come back home when she learns her mother is in the hospital... dying from AIDS brought on my her promiscuous lifestyle. Meanwhile, Craig has a meeting with his father's accountant about the company which is in bankruptcy due to the FBI investigation to his father's unethical business means. Craig wants to keep his father's company afloat, but things are not going to be easy. Carla is afraid that the secret of her becoming Amy's nanny so Samantha (now married to Craig) could see her will soon be discovered. Carla, with Samantha's help, plots to get Meghan and Amy away from the abusive Paul, but soon begins to fall for the misogynist businessman and she ends up seducing him. Elsewhere in Europe, Aaron meets a beautiful French woman, named Pascale, while on a Prague train heading for Brussels and he has a one-night stand with her. Also, Will enlists in the U.S. Army and after training in boot camp, receives orders to go to Kuwait for Operation Desert Storm.

- Remy investigates the death of the father of a young débutante in a suspicious plane crash in the swamps and learns a series of facts about the unscrupulous businessman, including the fact that C.D. was romantically involved with the widow of the victim. Meanwhile, Anne, with Darlene's help, strikes out on her own investigation into the mysterious death by trying to establish a motive by either the débutante daughter Alana, or the estranged artist son Kent.
- Just days after Sylvia gives birth to a baby boy (Theo), Sipowicz suffers an emotional setback when Andy Jr. is found murdered in the line of duty. Sipowicz wants Simone to lead the case of his son's killer and also wants the opportunity for restitution. With Russell in tow, Simone tries to balance his desire for revenge, as well as his quest for justice to catch the killers. While Sipowicz breaks the news of his son's death to his first wife, Katie, he begins to show signs of an emotional breakdown. In the midst of all this turmoil, Donna makes her decision when she quits her job as administrative assistant to the precinct and moves to California, leaving New York for good.
- Simone's continued involvement with the FBI sting against Joey Salvo jeopardizes his career when the men from Internal Affairs investigate him and suspend him from active duty. Meanwhile, Sipowicz and Russell investigate the gruesome murder of a young woman where a psychiatrist, named Dr. Wentzel, insists on implicating his patient's father for her murder. Martinez and Medavoy have a hard time over a haughty mugging victim who is a writer from a local magazine that wrote a bad story on the cops of New York City. Simone's involvement with the FBI reaches a cliff-hanging climax when in a secret meeting with Salvo, the mobster is hit by gunfire by an unseen assassin. Sipowitz, following Simone, comes on the scene and sees Simone standing over Salvo's dead body... and thinks Simone killed him!
- Recurring guest star Melinda Clarke appears as Kelly, Matt's long-lost mother. Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite Macintrye) asks Damon to be part of a fundraising bachelor auction.
- When all of Echo's past romantic engagements are found murdered, Adelle and the rest of the staff of the Dollhouse fear that Alpha has returned to seek his revenge. Adelle begins to grow suspicious of Ballard who hopes to find allies in Boyd and Topher in his continuing secret plan to bring down the Dollhouse from the inside.

But when Remy learns that the victim was in fact poisoned, he sets out to find the culprit. This leads him from the shooting culprit, Angela, who's father was in competition with the murder victim, which leads to a shady produce entrepreneur, whom was in feud with the victim.
- Simone and Sipowicz investigate the murder of a woman whose body was found naked in the trunk of a car in a junk yard which leads them to a pervert with a penchant for lookalike porn actresses. Meanwhile, Martinez and Medavoy investigate a man who was found dead with a severe blow to his head from a typewriter. Simone hires Henry to take care of a painting job in the tenement building, where Henry comes in complaining about a difficult tenant. The emotionally and physically scarred Gina returns to work (with a large vertical scar across her left face), and Russell is working through her issues with her family problems by meeting a counselor.
- Santoro's brother-in-law is arrested for possession of stolen goods kept in a locker that has Santoro's name on the lease, which could cause problems for Santoro. While visiting an apartment on official business, Clem, Lowery, Doyle and Hector hear shots coming from the floor above and chase the perpetrators to the roof. One is killed, but the other gets away. They killed a black family because drugs were being dealt from their apartment. The view of the officers is that it was more than a random occurrence and that a recently paroled drug lord, Jerome McFee, was involved in some way. But the local fanatic Reverend Basil Matheson returns with the fanatic and black racist lawyer, Wendell Ford, where they put more pressure on Clem to find the killer, and then make the investigation their business to stir up more tension between the African American community and the police. Also, Roussakoff and Doyle investigate an abusive husband and decide to teach him a lesson about the results of domestic abuse. Elsewhere, Santoro and Donovan commence their plans to remove Captain Sorela as their boss by playing on his paranoia to make him think that he's under investigation which leads to the officious captain quiting as the station's chief.

Meanwhile, Remy is not too pleased when he is paired with a new trainee, the ambitious, but naive Janine Rebbenack who transfers to the squad, and she quickly annoys Remy with her by-the-book ways of handling the case. Elsewhere, Smiley asks Remy for financial assistance as he prepares to open up his own jazz and blues club.
- Jackie asks Teddy to help her plan a surprise half-birthday party for Silver, which makes Silver think back her past childhood birthday parties which were apparently her best times. Meanwhile, Navid witnesses Adrianna buying drugs from Jasper, forcing Navid to confront him about being a drug dealer. But Jasper threatens to reveal some dirt that he has on Navid should he turn him in. Dixon is determined to confront Sasha about her "miscarriage", which forces Debbie and Harry to reveal that Sasha lied about being pregnant. Elsewhere, Annie and Jasper profess their love for each other and decide to take their relationship to "the next level". After getting into a fight on the beach during surfing practice, Liam confides in Dixon, Teddy, and Ivy about Naomi's sister Jen seducing him during prom night and he wants to devise a plan to seek revenge on Jen.

Meanwhile, Sipowicz and Simone search for the killer of a mobster's son, that reveals a family affair. The pompous lawyer of a suspect in another murder case impedes Medavoy and Russell's investigation and the erratic behavior of son of the victim doesn't help much either. Also, Martinez and Lesniak investigate another murder case that may be connected to Sipowicz and Simone's murder suspect who now may be on a killing rampage.

She spends a lot of Al's money (which he swindles from Carlos) to go to the salon to achieve the natural look of the women of his village. Thus, she is spending a lot of money to look like she has spent no money on her looks. Bud says, "you are your mother's daughter." Kelly says, "Well, duh..." Carlos has spent a lot of money to come to America to get away from women of his village. Al ends up with a lot of Carlos's money.

Elsewhere, Christian has sex with yet another random woman, Alexis Stone, a bartender who soon reveals that she is a male-to-female transsexual who wishes to undergo surgery to become a man once again.

Meanwhile, Julia plots to get back at her manipulative mother after years of emotional abuse. While Sean and Julia try to form a united front for custody of Annie and Connor, Erica learns troubling details about her new Italian husband, Renaldo, who is not only a gigolo but a pervert.

Meanwhile, Brandon attempts to nurse a flu-stricken Kelly and Valerie back to health, who re-live to each other how they became hard-core enemies two years ago which involved both of them pursuing Brandon. At the end, Valerie secretly meets with a certain Derrick Driscoll, who works for Kelly's father, to ask about a possible investment plan.

Elsewhere, Silver and Teddy bond over the loss of both of their mothers and unexpectedly get close to each other.

Elsewhere, Ryan continues dating Ivy's troubled mother, Laurel, who pulls him into her dangerous lifestyle of pot-smoking and free-love, while at the same time, Laurel wants to sign Adrianna to a recording contract, but wants her to leave her band first. Also, Liam receives a surprise visit from his estranged father, Finn, who was recently released from prison and has apparently been trying to go straight by opening up a local bait and tackle shop.

Noah goes too far in helping Donna with her work, bribing a local fashion company to set the stage for her designs and purchases.
